COVID – CORONA – THE BOTTOM LINE

“True Worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth… They are the kind of worshipers that the Father seeks.”  Coming to the Father means worshiping him the way he wants to be worshiped.  Worship is the Crown Jewel in the Kingdom of God.   Photo Credit: Son of Life

I am greatly encouraged to see that many people are waking up to the fact that they have been lied to by the powers that be.  Many are recognizing that there is a conspiracy at foot and are getting harder and harder for those in power to fool.

That is a good thing.  However, it is only the surface.  What happens in the realm of what we can see, taste, smell, and feel is only the physical manifestation of what is happening in the realm of the unseen.  The spiritual realm is where everything initiates.  The truth is that there are two forces at work.  The forces of GOOD/GOD and the forces of EVIL/DEVIL.  Everything that affects us does so because of our spiritual standing.  What matters most in this world is who you choose to believe and serve.  You can protest all you want that you do not SERVE anyone, but you would be only fooling yourself.   We all serve a master, and there are only two choices.  God or The Devil.   That is why Jesus said “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24   Mammon represents the things of this world.  You must choose who we will believe.

If you settle in your heart that you TRUST GOD, you will not put what the world teaches over what GOD says.  EVERYTHING that is happening in today’s society across the entire globe is happening by design.  Those in power have an agenda and all that you see before you is part of it.  They have been plotting, building and developing the world to suit them and programming you to accept their words over God’s.  This whole business of the “pandemic” is part of the plan to DEFEAT GOD in your life.  To cheat you out of your salvation and bring you fully into the Kingdom of the Devil and under his total control.  Satan/the Devil wants EVERYTHING that is rightfully God’s.  EVERYTHING, that includes your complete submission and obedience.

AMERICA BURNING: Trump, Francis and the War on God

TheRemnantVideo
May 30, 2020
As the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis descend into a state of emergency, Michael Matt discusses the root cause of this Godless madness–the total rejection of His moral law. The vile tragedy of George Floyd’s murder is herein set in the context of the international lockdown which left millions (including Mr. Floyd) unemployed, desperate and addicted. Plus, as professional leftist agitators descend upon our city and make a mockery of the tragedy that happened here, the liberal Democrat mayor of the city is decrying the violence and loss of respect for life and property. This is the same guy, by the way, who designated March 10 as “Abortion Providers Appreciation Day” here in Minneapolis. In the meantime, why did Anthony Fauci tell America magazine that the nation must put off receiving Communion indefinitely? Also, where in the world is Pope Francis? Michael wonders if the pontiff and his globalist friends can handle Donald Trump pulling out of the WHO, trashing the WTO and getting America out of the Paris Climate Treaty. Positive Notes: The Bishops of Minnesota defy the Governor of Minnesota, New Yorkers have had enough of the lockdown and the governor of South Dakota, aside from beating Covid without a lockdown, may be the most pro-life governor in the country. All this and so much more. For more information on the doctrine of the Social Kingship of Christ: http://www.vatican.va/content/pius-xi… #COVID19 #UniteTheClans #PROTESTING

Let’s just take a look at what has come about because of the COVID 19/Corona Virus Pandemic and how it plays out in the realm of the spirit.  We will begin with the demand that we stop meeting together in groups, especially to worship.

spacer

Hebrews 10

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

God commands us to gather together and not forsake this important part of who we are in Christ.  We are one body.  We need each other.  There is faith that comes by joining together in worship building each other up with encouragement and sharing our burdens.  This is vital to our survival and to our growth as believers.

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Not only do we need each other, but we need the presence of GOD!  He promises  that when we DO GATHER TOGETHER, HE WILL JOIN US. There is no way to explain what happens within us when our spirit senses the very near presence of the LORD!  It is life changing, transforming and faith building.  The Devil KNOWS this and that is one thing he wants to stop immediately if not sooner!

Deuteronomy 31

12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that [is] within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:13 And [that] their children, which have not known [any thing], may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of the Lord.  Coming together to HEAR the Word of the Lord read and preached is vital for our understanding.  For many people, church is the only place where they hear the word of GOD.  That is likely one of the reasons for the great falling away that has occurred in this generation.  They don’t go to church so they do know the word.  Because they don’t KNOW the Word of GOD, they are easily mislead. That is exactly what the Devil wants.  Foolish people who don’t know what they believe or why…sheep that will follow an imposter.

HIDE YOUR FACE!

Genesis 1:27-27

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

GOD formed you in his very own image and likeness.  Can you even comprehend what that means?  It is far to deep to expound on here, but most importantly your face is a representation of GOD himself.  So, the Devil has three reasons to HATE YOU.  1) your face reminds him of GOD, and all that he once had in God’s kingdom which he will never have again. 2) You are the reason for his fall.  God did not make the angels in HIS image.  The angels were just under GOD until You came along.  You were GOD’s favored creation and the final straw was that GOD told the angels they had to bow to YOU!  God gave humans RULE and REIGN over the Earth.   3) When Satan and his followers polluted the seed of the earth, including humans, God condemned them to HELL with NO HOPE FOR REDEMPTION, but GOD provided SALVATION for mankind.  So, you have grace and he does not… HE HATES YOU!  He wants his position back.  He wants to RULE and REIGN.

Isaiah 53:1-6

53 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

We read many times in the Word that God hid his face from man when man did evil.  To hide your face is to show rejection, to shun, to turn away.  The Devil wants everyone wearing a MASK because it shows rejection of GOD!  It even shows that we despise the fact that we are in his image.  By wearing a Mask we are saying we reject GOD’s truth and we embrace the lies of the DEVIL!  Look around you at all the covered faces.

The Mask is a Symbol

Sin can cause fellowship with God to be broken so that the Lord will hide his “face” from his people(Deut. 31:16-17). In such cases not only will pain and sorrow follow (Ps. 13:1-2,  MT) but dire circumstances can occur. For example, the psalmist prays,  “Do not reject me (lit., hide your face from me)or I will join those  descending to the grave” (Ps. 143:7). Yet “God is merciful and compassionate; he will not reject you (lit., turn his face from you) if you return to him” (2 Chr. 30:9).  God warned the nation Israel through his messengers that if his people  sinned against him, judgment would surely come, whether upon individuals  (Lev. 17:10) or the  nation: “I have determined not to deliver this city but to bring  disaster on it (lit., I will set my face against the city for evil and  not good)” (Jer. 21:10).  So also Ezekiel prophesies concerning Jerusalem, “I will give it to  foreigners as loot … I will turn my face away from them, and they will  desecrate my treasured place” (Ezek. 7:21-22).    Source

So, when we reject GOD, he will reject us, unless we return to HIM.  I believe that the world has been rejecting God for years now.  God has been merciful and trying to get our attention.  The Devil does not want us to return to God, he wants us to show our final rejection of God by wearing the mask that covers his image on our face.   God declares that HE is our healer.  That was one of the main reasons that Christ came to earth, yes, he came to redeem us, but He also came to HEAL us.  Throughout the Bible we are told that he brings healing, that the price he paid on Calvary purchased our healing as much as our salvation!

ETYMOLOGY OF MASK

mask (n.)  1530s, “a cover for the face (with openings for the eyes and mouth), a false face,” from Middle French masque “covering to hide or guard the face” (16c.), from Italian maschera, from Medieval Latin masca “mask, specter, nightmare,” a word of uncertain origin. It is perhaps from Arabic maskharah “buffoon, mockery,” from sakhira “be mocked, ridiculed.” Or it may come via Provençal mascarar, Catalan mascarar, Old French mascurer “to black (the face),” which is perhaps from a Germanic source akin to English mesh (q.v.). But it maybe a Provençal word originally: Compare Occitan mascara “to blacken, darken, derived from mask- “black,” which is held to be from a pre-Indo-European language, and Old Occitan masco “witch,” surviving in dialects; in Beziers it means “dark cloud before the rain comes.” [See Walther von Wartburg, “Französisches Etymologisches Wörterbuch: Eine Darstellung galloromanischen sprachschatzes”].Figurative meaning “anything used or practiced for disguise or concealment” is by 1570s.

mascot (n.)

“a talisman, charm, thing supposed to bring good luck to its possessor,” also “person whose presence is supposed to be a cause of good fortune,” 1881, from provincial French mascotte “sorcerer’s charm, ‘faerie friend,’ good luck piece” (19c.), of uncertain origin, perhaps from or related to Provençal mascoto “sorcery, fetish” (a Narbonnese manuscript of 1233 has mascotto “procuress, enchantment, bewitchment in gambling”), from masco “witch,” from Old Provençal masca, itself of unknown origin, perhaps from Medieval Latin masca “mask, specter, nightmare” (see mask (n.)).Popularized by French composer Edmond Audran’s 1880 comic operetta “La Mascotte,” about a household “fairy” who gives luck to an Italian peasant, which was performed in a toned-down translation in England from fall 1881. In reference to animals (later costumed characters) representing sports teams, by 1889.

So, Globally, not just nationally, they are requesting and/or demanding that everyone wear a MASK! You have to agree that this would never even have been conceivable if it weren’t for the threat of this pandemic.

It’s Official: CDC Recommends Public Wear Face Masks

— Stresses use of cloth coverings, not medical grade, for ordinary people

WASHINGTON — The CDC is now recommending that everyone should wear a cloth face covering when out in public places to protect others in case they are unknowingly infected with the virus.

Late Friday night, the agency updated its consumer-facing web page for COVID-19 self-protection as follows:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.
  • You could spread COVID-19 to others even if you do not feel sick.
  • Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.
  • Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
  • The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
  • Do NOT use a facemask meant for a healthcare worker.
  • Continue to keep about 6 feet between yourself and others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.

Because there is currently no vaccine nor approved treatment, the agency stressed that the best strategy for preventing illness is still to avoid exposure to the virus. Even asymptomatic people can spread coronavirus to others, the CDC stressed.  (this is all about making you afraid to be near people)

During a White House briefing on Friday evening, President Trump underscored the CDC’s advice to Americans who are not clinicians, that they not wear “medical-grade or surgical-grade” masks. These are now in shortage at many hospitals, forcing administrators to adopt last-ditch strategies to extend supplies.

But Trump said he has no plans to follow the recommendation himself to wear a mask in public. “I’m choosing not to do it,” he said at the Friday briefing.    (You have a choice, choose to trust GOD)

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is transmitted primarily through person-to-person contact from people who are in close contact, meaning less than 6-feet apart; through respiratory droplets, projected in a sneeze or cough that land in the mouths and noses of people nearby and can be inhaled into their lungs, but importantly the virus can also be transmitted through talking.

Researchers reported earlier in the week that the coronavirus could be spread through normal breathing and speech. Large droplets remain one method of transmission, when they are inhaled by a person nearby or through contact with a contaminated surface and later touching one’s face. However, researchers noted that tiny particles in the air can also carry the virus.

Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, recommended last weekend that “everyone, including people without symptoms, should be encouraged to wear nonmedical fabric face masks while in public.

While asymptomatic transmission of the virus outside of China was discovered in late January, White House officials had initially suggested that it was not an important driver of transmission. “You really need to just focus on the individuals that are symptomatic,” HHS Secretary Alex Azar told ABC Newsin March.

Last Updated April 04, 2020
Even now, after it has been proven that this virus has been no more deadly than any other virus such as the flu, they are still requiring people to continue to wear these masks.  Some people are saying this could be a permanent requirement.   Note that this list was compiled June 5th, 2020 and also note how many states are STILL requiring that they be worn.

Facing Your Face Mask Duties – A List of Statewide Orders, as of June 5, 2020

Governors and public health officials across the country have implemented stringent measures to help contain the spread of COVID-19, such as safer at home orders. Yet even as businesses begin to reopen, face coverings are likely to remain popular as a preventative measure. Numerous jurisdictions have encouraged—or mandated—citizens to wear face coverings when out in public, especially when social distancing cannot be maintained effectively. Some directives also obligate employers to provide masks to their employees. (this is just another measure to break small companies and eliminate jobs.  Small business owners cannot afford to supply masks.  They are already under such a financial burden from this “pandemic” and masks are expensive.)

This post, current as of June 5, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. (CDT), identifies the jurisdictions where face coverings are recommended or required. We will update this list regularly but expect it will become outdated quickly as new announcements are made.

Note that this list does not include face covering guidance at the local level. If you would like more information, please contact your Littler attorney for additional resources that summarize such requirements at both the state and local level.

Healing Power of TOUCH – Laying on of Handsacr

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

spacer

So, he not only cuts us off from the power of healing found in our own hands, but also prevents us from benefiting from the prayers and annointing from the hands of others.  This is a very powerful thing.  When our faith is weak, and someone else lays hands on us and prays, we have the opportunity to see the power of GOD move.  This is a big faith builder.  This is one of the reasons he commands us to fellowship with like believers, because we benefit from each others faith and testimonies.

Being or feeling isolated can be devastating to a healthy person, let alone someone who is ill.  No matter what age you are, it is always nice to have someone to visit you when you are sick, just to let you know they care.  If you are feverish and weak, it is such a blessing to have some one wipe you down with a cold towel, feed you some soup or bring you dinks and check that you have taken your medicine.  I highly doubt that someone left all alone to fend for themselves has much chance of recovery at all, let alone a speedy one.

How the power of touch reduces pain and even fights disease

    • By Roger Dobson

    • excerpts only posted here.  To view the entire article click the link above.

When Jim Coan scanned the brains of married women in pain, he spotted changes that may help to shed light on an age-old mystery. As soon as the women touched the hands of their husbands, there was an instant drop in activity in the areas of the brains involved in fear, danger, and threat. The women, who had been exposed to experimental pain while they were scanned, were calmer and less stressed, and a similar, but smaller, effect was triggered by the touch of strangers.

“It’s the first study of the brain’s reactions to human touch in a threatening situation, and the first to measure how the brain is involved in the health-enhancing properties of close social relationships,” said Dr Coan, a neuroscientist at Virginia University.

Touch, a key component of traditional healing, is being increasingly studied in mainstream medicine, with some trials showing symptom benefits in a number of areas, from asthma and high blood pressure to migraine and childhood diabetes. Other research findings hint that not only does touch lower stress levels, but that it can boost the immune system and halt or slow the progress of disease.

The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine says it has carried out more than 100 studies into touch and found evidence of significant effects, including faster growth in premature babies, reduced pain, decreased autoimmune disease symptoms, lowered glucose levels in children with diabetes, and improved immune systems in people with cancer.

At the Institute for Postgraduate Dental Education in Sweden, a small trial involving 10 patients with fibromyalgia syndrome found that eight benefited from touch therapy. The results of the pilot study are so encouraging that they warrant an extended study,'” said the researchers.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is one of a number of leading health centres in the US that now uses healing touch therapy. “Research has demonstrated that patients who receive healing touch experience accelerated wound healing and relaxation, pain relief and general comfort,” said a spokesman.

According to a Stanford University report, several studies are showing significant benefits in wound healing, pain and anxiety. It says touch therapy may also have positive effects on fracture healing and arthritis. But some studies have failed to find an effect for touch, while others have had mixed results. One review of 11 separate studies found that seven showed a beneficial effect, three showed no effect, and one had a negative effect. Two out of four studies found a significant effect, but the others showed that those who did not get the touch therapy progressed better.

Coronavirus, Social and Physical Distancing and Self-Quarantine

Reviewed By:
Lisa Lockerd Maragakis, M.D., M.P.H.

Now that the new coronavirus and COVID-19, the illness it causes, are spreading among communities in the United States and other countries, phrases such as “social distancing,” “self-quarantine” and “flattening the curve” are showing up in the media.

What do they mean, and how might they apply to you, your family and your community?

Lisa Maragakis, M.D., M.P.H. , senior director of infection prevention at Johns Hopkins, helps clarify these concepts so you can understand better why they’re being recommended.

What is social and physical distancing?

Social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. Staying at least six feet away from other people lessens your chances of catching COVID-19. Wear a cloth face covering where social distancing can’t be practiced, especially in areas of significant community-based transmission. Cancelling events that are likely to draw crowds is an example of social and physical distancing.

While it may be disappointing to hear that so many sports events, cruises, festivals and other gatherings are being cancelled, there is a public health reason for these measures. These cancellations help stop or slow down the spread of disease allowing the health care system to more readily care for patients over time.

Other examples of social and physical distancing that allow you to avoid larger crowds or crowded spaces are:

  • Working from home instead of at the office
  • Closing schools or switching to online classes
  • Visiting loved ones by electronic devices instead of in person
  • Cancelling or postponing conferences and large meetings

Coronavirus: What do I do if I Feel Sick?

If you are concerned that you may have COVID-19, follow these steps to help protect your health and the health of others.

What is self-quarantine?

People who have been exposed to the new coronavirus and who are at risk for coming down with COVID-19 might practice self-quarantine. Health experts recommend that self-quarantine lasts 14 days. Two weeks provides enough time for them to know whether or not they will become ill and be contagious to other people.

You might be asked to practice self-quarantine if you have recently returned from traveling to a part of the country or the world where COVID-19 is spreading rapidly, or if you have knowingly been exposed to an infected person.

Self-quarantine involves:

  • Using standard hygiene and washing hands frequently
  • Not sharing things like towels and utensils
  • Staying at home
  • Not having visitors
  • Staying at least 6 feet away from other people in your household

Once your quarantine period has ended, if you do not have symptoms, follow your doctor’s instructions on how to return to your normal routine.

What is isolation?

For people who are confirmed to have COVID-19isolation is appropriate. Isolation is a health care term that means keeping people who are infected with a contagious illness away from those who are not infected. Isolation can take place at home or at a hospital or care facility. Special personal protective equipment will be used to care for these patients in health care settings.

Healing Power in COMMUNION

Isaiah 53:3-5

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

When anyone comes finally to the full understanding of what was purchase for them at Calvary they cannot help but worship and adore the Lord God Almighty.  He who came to earth and took on flesh to pay the price for our redemption.  When GOD does something, he does it fully, completely and perfactly.  There is nothing lacking in anything GOD does.  When he purchased you back through the blood of His son/His flesh it was complete.  You are made WHOLE again.  Whole in body, mind and spirit.  He purchased your health and healing just as sure as He purchased your soul.
spacer

1 Corinthians 11:23-30

23For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, 24and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is for you;c do this in remembrance of Me.” 25In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against thed body and blood of the Lord. 28Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the bodye eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.

If you are not walking in perfect health, you need to look to GOD for the answer.  It is most assuredly that you do not totally comprehend what was purchased for you or that you do not know how to apply it.  God is reaching out to you.  He wants to make you whole.  It does take something on your part though.  You cannot reject God’s laws or worse yet reject HIM and still expect to walk in His promises.  It just doesn’t work that way.   The Devil does not want you to walk in the promises.  He wants your rejection of God to be complete, because then YOU BELONG TO HIM!

Communion: Secrets of the Last Days

I’m a guy who used to NEVER believe in Healings and “Supernatural” things. That has changed because Holy Spirit has given me new understanding of what it means to have healing and wholeness. You never need a healing if you are living in divine health…and He showed me a piece of how to do that. I had something growing on my arm…and Jesus told me what to do. Here is my story…

There is healing in the power of Holy Communion

Published

1 Peter 2:24, “He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live what is right. By His wounds, you are healed.”

There is healing in the bread when you partake in Holy Communion in remembrance of what Jesus did on the cross. In Luke 22:20, Jesus tells us that the cup is the “new covenant between God and His people,” an agreement confirmed with Jesus’ blood which was poured out as a sacrifice for you and for me. Apostle Paul tells us that the blood of Jesus brings forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:14, “Who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.”

Besides being born again in Christ, Holy Communion is God’s ordained channel of healing and wholeness. He knew what He would accomplish through His sacrifice on the cross. Jesus wanted us conscious of how His body was broken so we could be made whole, and His blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. When we partake in Communion, we “proclaim the Lord’s death til He comes.” The bread is symbolic of His body and Jesus’ divine health and life flowing in our mortal bodies. When we drink from the cup, we are declaring that we are forgiven and have been made righteous. Jesus’ blood He shed on the cross gives us right standing before God, and we can go boldly into God’s presence.

Hebrew 4:16, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.”

Holy Communion is not a ritual to be observed, but a blessing to be received. When you eat the bread, by His stripes that fell on His back, your body is healed from the crown of your head to the very soles of your feet. In Jesus’ Name, say, “I believe and receive.” Then eat the bread. Next, take the cup in your hand and say: Lord Jesus, thank you for your precious blood. Your sin-free, disease-free, poverty-free life is in Your blood. Through your blood You shed on the cross, I am forgiven all my sins — past, present and future — and made completely righteous. Today, I celebrate and partake of the inheritance of the righteous, which is preservation, healing, wholeness and provision.

Thank you, Lord, for loving me. Now drink from the cup. Jesus has blessed us through His giving.

Churches in the U.S. are banning drinking communion wine and the sign of peace to stop the spread of coronavirus

In South Korea, a staggering two-thirds of the more than 4,000 people who have now tested positive for coronavirus are tied to the same church. In fact, Lee Man-hee, the leader of Shincheonji Church, got on his knees and bowed to the ground at a news conference as he apologized for his fringe Christian sect’s role in the spread of the virus. It plays to reason that churches are potentially dangerous breeding grounds for an outbreak like the coronavirus illness, officially known as COVID-19. Not only do services involve gatherings of large groups of people, they often involve the touching of strangers’ hands and the sharing of communal cups. And at a time when health experts are recommending social distancing, neither of these actions seem advisable. So, are churches in the United States taking any precautions to avoid the spread of coronavirus? On the level of individual dioceses, some are.

On February 27, the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey issued liturgical guidelines instructing its 109 parishes to discontinue the option of drinking “the Precious Blood from the chalice,” effective immediately.

“During the Exchange of Peace, worshipers should simply bow with respect to each other and not shake hands,” the guidance continues.

They are also instructing all eucharistic ministers to have bottles of Purell on hand and to use hand sanitizer both before and after the distribution of Communion. The same goes for liturgical ministers before and after Mass.

In Illinois, the Diocese of Joliet is taking similar measures.

“We led the mass today with a formal announcement before the mass even began, which is extraordinary for us,” Rev. Joshua Miller of St. Charles Borromeo Church told CBS Chicago. “I haven’t done it in five years… I think everybody understands the need to err on the side of caution — even on a normal flu season, but with the threat of coronavirus in particular.”

A representative for the Diocese of Brooklyn told CBS News that they have had a mandatory suspension on drinking wine from the communal cup instituted all winter. Additionally, while there has not yet been an official mandate, they have suggested that all Catholic churches in Brooklyn and Queens, New York, voluntary suspend the distribution of communion bread directly onto churchgoers’ tongues. The Diocese recommended “that folks receive the Body of the Christ in their hand” instead.

These sorts of protective measures are not unique to the Catholic Church.

While not explicitly prohibiting the passing of the peace or drinking wine from the common cup, the Episcopal Diocese of California issued guidelines to its congregations late last week, instructing them to “consider alternatives to handshaking or hugging.”

“A nod, a wave, or touching our hands to our hearts are among the many ways we can acknowledge Christ in one another,” the guidelines read.

The diocese also asked congregants to refrain from the practice of intinction, which is when people dip the communion bread or wafer into the wine.

“Intinction is not a safer practice than sipping from the chalice,” a representative wrote in a statement to CBS News. “There is a risk that the bacteria on our hands may come in contact with the wine.”

They are also encouraging any of the approximately 24,000 people across their 80 congregations who feel “even slightly unwell” or are concerned about their health to “refrain from contact with the chalice.” They are advising anyone sick to simply stay home.

CBS News has also reached out to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, where “the blood of Christ” is consumed at communion through the use of a communal spoon which enters the mouth of every churchgoer, but has not yet received a response.

Addressing concerns about the potential for contracting infection or germs from the Holy Spoon, Rev. Fr. Stylianos Muksuris writes on the Orthodox Research Institute’s website:

“From a purely microbiological perspective, the sweet red wine used in Communion is typically high in alcoholic content. This means that the chances of bacteria or germs surviving in it are virtually minimal to non-existent. Although each of us communes the Body and Blood of Christ, the invisible microbes that may enter our mouths from the previous communicant are harmless. From a purely experiential perspective, every chalice on Sundays is consumed in its totality by the priest, after several mouths have communed from it. No priest, including the writer of this column, has ever become ill or incapacitated after consuming the Holy Gifts. And finally, from a purely spiritual perspective, the Holy Gifts are exactly that: they are sacred. … If we truly believe in God, we know quite well that God would never allow harm to come to us, most especially in the reception of Holy Communion.”

Some Experts Split From Fauci on Holy Communion Recommendation
NATION |  MAY. 29, 2020
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said in a recent interview that he does not consider the distribution of Holy Communion to yet be safe— even if distributed in the hand.

DENVER, Colo. — As dioceses across the United States start to reopen public Masses, the scientist leading the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic recommended that Catholic Churches ought not resume distribution of Holy Communion. But other medical experts told CNA there are ways that Communion can be distributed safely amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told America magazine May 26 that he does not consider the distribution of Holy Communion to yet be safe— even if distributed in the hand.

“I think for the time being, you just gotta forestall that,” Fauci said regarding Communion, calling for “common sense” measures to protect worshippers and the wider community such as masks, social distancing, and prohibiting singing.

“As many times as a priest can wash his hands, he gets to Communion, he puts it in somebody’s hand, they put it in their mouth…it’s that kind of close interaction that you don’t want when you’re in the middle of a deadly outbreak,” he told America.

Fauci’s recommendation on the Eucharist came a month after he said it could be possible for Americans to connect with people through dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, or Grindr.

“If you’re willing to take a risk…you could figure out if you want to meet somebody,” Fauci told Snapchat’s “Good Luck America.”

“If you want to go a little bit more intimate, well, then that’s your choice regarding a risk,” he added.

Deacon Robert Lanciotti is a microbiologist and the former chief of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s diagnostic and reference laboratory in Fort Collins, Colorado. Lanciotti told CNA that Fauci’s call for “common sense” measures to mitigate the risk of infection does not exclude the possibility of distributing Communion.

“The primary way that this virus is spread is by direct person to person contact; droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes that land on another person and then enter the respiratory tract,” Lanciotti told CNA in an email.

“Maintaining a 6-foot distance or wearing a cloth mask are both methods that disrupt this process. Utilizing one of these measures in a group setting where infected symptomatic people are not present should be a sufficient level of risk reduction.”

Lanciotti, a graduate of Loyola College, was ordained a deacon in 2017.

He took issue with Fauci’s concerns regarding Communion in the hand.

“With the use of hand sanitizer immediately prior to the distribution of Holy Communion, and being careful not to directly touch the communicant, there is virtually no risk in the distribution of Communion,” Lanciotti told CNA.

Deacon Lanciotti pointed to an April 28 document from the Thomistic Institute in Washington D.C., written by medical professionals, researchers, and theologians.

That group recommended that out of respect for the Mass, the priest ought not wear a mask or gloves during the Mass, and neither should anyone distributing Communion.

Under the group’s recommended guidelines, those who wish to receive could approach the altar, spaced six feet apart; if the priest believed he touched the hands or mouth of a recipient, he could use hand sanitizer sitting on a table next to him.

According to the Thomistic Institute’s recommendations, the Precious Blood ought not be distributed at Mass.

To date, dioceses that have developed Church reopening plans have called for suspension of distribution of the Precious Blood. The Catholic Church teaches that reception of either the host or the chalice is a complete act of Eucharistic reception.

The Thomistic Institute’s document, distributed to bishops by the U.S. bishops’ conference, also recommends— as did Dr. Fauci— that singing ought to be discouraged.

It also states that it could be possible to receive Holy Communion on the tongue “without unreasonable risk.”

The document recommends that the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions ought not attend Mass anyway, as they are at especially high risk.

“I completely agree with this statement…In the setting of a church service, the single most important safety measure is for symptomatic individuals to stay home,” Lanciotti told CNA.

“I would argue that having sick individuals stay home, followed by adopting one more measure— masks or social distancing— is a reasonable approach. Utilizing both masks and social distancing represents a safety redundancy that is excessive and counter to ‘common sense,’” he said.

At St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, Masses resumed May 18, after more than two months of closure amid Italy’s coronavirus lockdown.

Visitors are advised to keep two meters apart, hand sanitizer is available at kiosks in the basilica, and, at the church’s entrance, the body temperatures of visitors are checked with scanning thermometers.

The Eucharist is distributed during Masses at the basilica.

Fauci, a Catholic, attended a Jesuit secondary school and Jesuit university.

In 2015, he told C-Span that he is no longer “a regular church-attender. I have evolved into less a Roman Catholic religion person to someone who tries to keep a degree of spirituality about them. I look upon myself as a humanist. I have faith in the goodness of mankind.”

He similarly told America that he appreciates his Catholic education, and especially the values he was taught at the Jesuit institutions he attended.

“I identify more, much more, with that than the concept of organized churches, religions,” he told America.

Other Catholic medical professionals have weighed in on the question of whether Holy Communion can be distributed safely.

An ad-hoc committee of seven Catholic doctors and medical school professors released on May 12 a document entitled “Road Map to Re-Opening our Catholic Churches Safely.” That group of doctors concluded that the safest recommendation is to receive Communion in the hand rather than on the tongue.

The document calls for Mass to be held with social distancing, and for the use of masks and hand sanitizer. Singing should be avoided, and those who are ill or believe they may have been exposed to the virus should stay home, it says.

One member of that committee is Dr. Andrea Baccarelli, chair of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.

Baccarelli told CNA that he agrees with and appreciates Fauci’s suggestions, and that there is a risk to the distribution of Holy Communion.

“Our committee wrote a plan to minimize the risk to distribute communion. That doesn’t mean that there will be no risk nor that we advised on whether it was safe to do it now or in the future,” Baccarelli added. “We just provided a document to guide masses and distribute Communion whenever it will be safe enough to do so.”

“If Dr. Fauci suggests it is not time yet to distribute communion, I think we should listen to him and wait before doing that again,” Baccarelli said.

Another member of the committee told CNA last week that he believes Catholics can attend Mass safely, and sacraments can be administered with appropriate precautions.

“I think that if we just use common sense to compare apples to apples for metrics that we know matter – like density, for example – then there’s no real kind of objective scientific reason why Mass is any more dangerous than going to the grocery store. I think the difference here is a perceived risk,” Dr. Andrew Wang, an immunobiologist at the Yale University School of Medicine and one of the plan’s co-authors, told CNA.

The plan calls for confessions to be held in outdoor or well-ventilated indoor areas, with the use of masks, an impermeable barrier between the priest and penitent, and frequent sanitization of surfaces.

Wang said that distributing Holy Communion on the hand, rather than on the tongue, represents an appropriate precaution for churches, especially while some things about the coronavirus spread are not yet completely understood.

Acknowledging that some people may object to that recommendation, Wang said that in his perspective, “it boils down to, is it better to not have communion at all – and by extension not have Mass at all?”

Ultimately, Wang said, going to church at this time is not risk-free, just as any other public activity is not without risk during a pandemic. He noted that dioceses throughout the country have granted dispensations from the Sunday obligation for those who are unable to attend or are not comfortable with the risk involved.

Deacon Tim Flanigan is a member of the Thomistic Institute’s working group, an infectious disease specialist who has battled Ebola outbreaks, and a professor of medicine at Brown University. Flanigan also told CNA that Catholics can return to Mass and the sacraments safely – if they observe CDC protocols.

“The question is: can I follow the CDC guidance just as carefully, in each setting, in order to decrease transmission of coronavirus? Can I maintain safe distancing? Can I maintain good hand hygiene? Can I ensure that I am not ill?” Flanigan told CNA last week.

If CDC guidelines are followed, “There is no reason to prohibit church services when you don’t prohibit other gatherings,” Flanigan said.

“The CDC gives us that guidance to decrease the rate of transmission. It’s just as important that guidance be followed at a house of worship, as at a conference, as at any other gathering.”

“If somebody makes an arbitrary judgment that a church is not going to follow that guidance, without any evidence, that is biased and there is no evidence for that,” he said.

Flanigan questioned the categories of some governors who classified religious gatherings as “non-essential,” compared to more “essential” activities like grocery stores.

“Being able to come together and pray together, being able to receive the sacraments, to encounter the Lord, right there in the sacraments, is so important,” Flanigan said.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, just as important as spiritual health,” he said. “We are a whole self, which has a mind, a body, a heart a soul. To be able to pray together, to be able to support each other, to be able to worship together, to be able to receive the Lord in Communion, is so important for us to be healthy and to thrive.”

“That is why our churches are essential,” Flanigan told CNA.

 Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
God did not just create Adam and Eve and then leave us hear to continue the race.  NO heaven’s NO!  GOD knew you, before you were even a seed in the belly of your parents.  He formed you in the womb and His eyes have been upon you since.  You are that special to GOD.  The Devil does not want you to believe that.  But, he knows it is true, and he hates that!
But, God did not stop there.   He not only formed you, he gave you a crown.  He endowed you with power to rule and reign over all the things of earth.  The Devil tricked Adam and Eve out of dominion.  BUT, Jesus Christ, bought it back.   Don’t let the Devil beguile you.  He wants to take away what is rightfully yours.   His ultimate plan is to steal all that belongs to GOD, and that includes you.

LAYING DOWN OUR CROWNS

Revelation 4:10-11
The twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.’

1. A MOMENT IN HEAVEN

• We don’t know much about heaven.
• The Bible gives us glimpses, but not a lot of details.
• Perhaps that is how God intended it, because it is beyond human comprehension.
• I believe that it is another realm of which we have very limited human capacity to grasp.
• If I look at the vastness of our universe, that is in its self, too great to fully comprehend, then one can only begin to imagine the vastness of heaven which will far exceed our limited universe.
• But in this scripture we catch a rare glimpse of one of the dimensions of this great place, where we as believers are destined to spend eternity.
• It is a place of great perpetual worship.
• It is also a place of great authority – God Himself is there. Jesus is there and there is a throne. These who have gone before are there.
• It is a place of great understanding and revelation.
• A place where we will finally grasp the greatness of God and how utterly dependant we all are on Him.
• It is like a sneak preview through a window into the timeless, matchless and majestic aspect of heaven itself.
• Oh the joy that lies before us.
• Perhaps the greatest joy will be just knowledge that we are in the presence of God Himself.

2. PART OF BEING A CHILD OF GOD INVOLVES A CROWN

• Crowns are mentioned in the Bible
• There are 5 crowns mentioned in the Bible that can be given to the children of God.

• 1. The Incorruptible Crown
1 Corinthians 9:24-25 ‘Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.’
This is also called the imperishable crown.
This crown is given to believers who faithfully run the race, who crucify every selfish desire in the flesh and point men to Jesus.

• 2. The Crown of Rejoicing
1 Thessalonians 2:19- 20 ‘For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.’
Daniel 12:3 ‘those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.’
To those who faithfully are witnesses to the saving grace of God and leads souls to Jesus.

• 3. The Crown of Life
James 1:12 ‘Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.’
For those believers who endure trials, tribulations, and severe suffering, even to the point of death.
Revelation 2:10 ‘But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.’

• 4. The Crown of Righteousness
2 Timothy 4:8 ‘Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.’
This crown will be given to those who love the appearing of Christ, who anxiously wait and look forward to the day when He will return for His saints.

• 5. The Crown of glory
1 Peter 5:1-4 ‘Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.’
This crown will be given to the ministers who faithfully feed the flock of God. This probably could also include preachers, teachers, Sunday School teachers, missionaries and all those who teach the Word of God in their respective ministries.
• So all believers are eligible for crowns.
• Charles Spurgeon identified the following:
• How is this possible?
a. By the grace of God.
b. By inheritance. It is kings that wear crowns.
c. By right of marriage as the bride of Christ.
d. By the right of conquest and victory.
e. By nobility of character – the reward of righteousness.
f. A gift from God.

• ‘There is a throne in heaven that no one can occupy but you! And there is a crown in heaven that no other head can wear but yours! And there is a part in the eternal song that no voice can ever compass but yours! And there is a glory to God that would be missing if you did not come to render it! And there is a part of infinite majesty and glory that would never be reflected unless you should be there to reflect it! Therefore comfort one another with this, that before long you shall be there! Because the grace of God has elected you, you have a hereditary right through the new birth. You have a marriage right by reason of union with Christ. You have rights of conquest as a warrior. You shall have the rights of character, for your character will be perfect before long. And you have the rights of possession, for God has given you all that which goes with the crown.’ Charles Spurgeon

3. ANY CROWNS WE MAY HAVE COME FROM HIM.

• All true believers acknowledge that all things come from His hand.
• This includes our salvation, our forgiveness, the things and positions we presently enjoy and our hope for the future. All these things come from the hand of God.
• The act of laying down crowns before His throne signifies that those crowns came from the One seated on the throne.
• By the grace of God we are what we are and we have what we have.
• There is also the reality that we are not fit to wear them in His presence.
• This needs to become a reality in our daily lives.
• He is the source of everything.
• We have no power of our own; we only have what He has made available to us.
• It all comes by the grace of God and by His grace alone.
• It is His grace that has brought us and kept.
• It is His grace that has brought us to salvation.
• And it is by His grace that we will one day stand in His presence and see Him face to face.
• There is no believer in heaven who wears a crown that is not a result of the sovereign grace of God in and on their lives.
• Isaiah 64:6 ‘…all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…’

4. A CROWN IS A POWERFUL SYMBOL.

• A crown is the traditional symbol, usually worn by a monarch.
• The crown traditionally represents power, legitimacy, victory, triumph, honour, and glory, as well as immortality, righteousness and resurrection.
• It is only on highly significant occasions that, in England, the crown is brought out from the Tower of London and placed on the head on the incumbent.
• A crown distinguishes one person from another.
• Modern day crowns find their origin in Biblical tradition.
• Crowns are made from the most precious materials available.
• The crown represents authority as it is passed from the giver to the recipient.
• The climax of every coronation is the crowning.
• It is that moment when the recognition and authority is set in place for all to see.
• Can you imagine that God wants to do this for us in front of the heavenly hosts and all the saints that have gone on before…

5. LAYING DOWN THEIR CROWNS

• Revelation 4:10 ‘They lay their crowns before the throne…’
• The question we can ask is why would they do this?
• Perhaps there are several reasons:
• A. They are deferring honour to the One to whom all honour is due.
• It is almost as if it is a spontaneous reaction to the presence of the one who carries the final authority.
• How does one sit with a crown on your head in the presence of the King of Kings?
• How can we carry our crown in front of the one who carried the Crown of Thorns?
• When we grasp how great God is and how great a thing He has done for us, we can but only remove our crowns and lay them down at His feet.
• B. They are greatly humbled in the presence of the Wonderful One, the Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.
• C. They were laying down their rights, privileges and wills. They placed everything in subjection to God.
• D. They were immensely thankful. Thankful for what God had done and how He had greatly honoured them.
• E. Their hearts were filled with love and affection. They laid down their crowns because of their great love for their God. They are happy to do this because they love their Lord. They love Him so greatly that they are willing to surrender all just as He had surrendered all for them.

6. LAYING DOWN OUR CROWNS

• It is so easy to think that all we have achieved is to our personal credit when in fact everything is a result of God’s favour and grace towards us.
• We can develop a ‘self-made’ attitude.
• Such an attitude is actually a form of pride.
• We need to get to that point where we are so moved by what God has done for us that we spontaneously lay down our crowns before Him.
• This should be our attitude now already and not just on that day when we see Him face to face.
• We should already be practising here what will be a reality one day.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.
• FOR IN THESE I DELIGHT!
• When we discover this we discover a great treasure and God takes delight in us when we come to this reality.
• 1 Corinthians 1:31 “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
• Galatians 6:14 ‘May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ!’
• There is no one in heaven who can say “I have done well!’
• Only God can say the words ‘Well done! Good and faithful servant!’
• Have you ever laid down your crowns (your achievements and successes) acknowledging it was all by His grace?
• We don’t go to heaven to learn these things, we learn them here.
• Heaven will just be the ultimate experience of this practice of laying down our crowns.
• Jesus Christ Himself laid down His crown for us and took on a crown of thorns, how much more should we not be ready to lay down our crowns for Him.
• When we take this humble approach it has a unifying effect.
• All the 24 Elders laid down their crowns.
• No one held on to anything, they all laid it all down and unity prevailed.
• Do you want unity? Take the low road.
• It is at the foot of the cross that rivalries and dissention are rendered powerless.
• The end product was worship.
• The most intense and dedicated worship.
• Here is the very worship that followed:
• Revelation 4:11 ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’
• Ultimately our very lives should be an act of worship.
• This can only be a reality when we get to that point where we get off out own thrones and lay down our crowns at the feet of Him who is truly worthy.
• 2 Timothy 4:7-8 ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of His return.’
