Tower of Babel | Story, Themes & Significance
The Tower of Babel is a mythical tower described in the book of Genesis in the Christian Old Testament. According to Genesis 11:1-9, all people used to speak the same language. Their unity of language allowed them to collaborate efficiently. They decided to build a grand tower, so tall it would reach into the heavens. Doing so would bring them glory, or so they believed. God watched his people start their construction efforts and realized that they were immensely powerful because of their ability to communicate. He realized that people would be able to do virtually anything, potentially giving them too much power over a world that was meant to be ruled by God. Before the tower was completed, God made everyone speak different languages. No longer able to understand each other, the builders were unable to complete the tower. They spread out across the world, which is how linguistic and cultural diversity began.

Now that is a very secular description of what happened at Babel. It illustrates how little unrighteous people know about GOD.
The following account of the building of the Tower of Babel comes from the book of Jasher. We now that the Book of Jasher is a valid history because it is mentioned several times in the Word of God.

Book of Jasher, Chapter 9
11 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
24 And they began to make bricks and burn fires to build the city and the tower that they had imagined to complete.
25 And the building of the tower was unto them a transgression and a sin, and they began to build it, and whilst they were building against the Lord God of heaven, they imagined in their hearts to war against him and to ascend into heaven.
26 And all these people and all the families divided themselves in three parts; the first said We will ascend into heaven and fight against him; the second said, We will ascend to heaven and place our own gods there and serve them; and the third part said, We will ascend to heaven and smite him with bows and spears; and God knew all their works and all their evil thoughts, and he saw the city and the tower which they were building.
27 And when they were building they built themselves a great city and a very high and strong tower; and on account of its height the mortar and bricks did not reach the builders in their ascent to it, until those who went up had completed a full year, and after that, they reached to the builders and gave them the mortar and the bricks; thus was it done daily.
28 And behold these ascended and others descended the whole day; and if a brick should fall from their hands and get broken, they would all weep over it, and if a man fell and died, none of them would look at him.
29 And the Lord knew their thoughts, and it came to pass when they were building they cast the arrows toward the heavens, and all the arrows fell upon them filled with blood, and when they saw them they said to each other, Surely we have slain all those that are in heaven. (This is the first time the lie “THERE IS NO GOD” or “GOD IS DEAD” was declared!)
30 For this was from the Lord in order to cause them to err, and in order; to destroy them from off the face of the ground. (Yet the end did not come. God allowed them to keep on building, until the time he had prepared.)
31 And they built the tower and the city, and they did this thing daily until many days and years were elapsed.
32 And God said to the seventy angels who stood foremost before him, to those who were near to him, saying, Come let us descend and confuse their tongues, that one man shall not understand the language of his neighbor, and they did so unto them.
33 And from that day following, they forgot each man his neighbor’s tongue, and they could not understand to speak in one tongue, and when the builder took from the hands of his neighbor lime or stone which he did not order, the builder would cast it away and throw it upon his neighbor, that he would die.
34 And they did so many days, and they killed many of them in this manner.
35 And the Lord smote the three divisions that were there, and he punished them according to their works and designs; those who said, We will ascend to heaven and serve our gods, became like apes and elephants; and those who said, We will smite the heaven with arrows, the Lord killed them, one man through the hand of his neighbor; and the third division of those who said, We will ascend to heaven and fight against him, the Lord scattered them throughout the earth.
36 And those who were left amongst them, when they knew and understood the evil which was coming upon them, they forsook the building, and they also became scattered upon the face of the whole earth.
37 And they ceased building the city and the tower; therefore he called that place Babel, for there the Lord confounded the Language of the whole earth; behold it was at the east of the land of Shinar.
38 And as to the tower which the sons of men built, the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up one third part thereof, and a fire also descended from heaven and burned another third, and the other third is left to this day, and it is of that part which was aloft, and its circumference is three days’ walk.
39 And many of the sons of men died in that tower, a people without number.

God is building a Temple of Human Stones. God does not build with bricks. God’s people build with stone and mortar. The builders of the Tower were using bricks burned in the fire and slapped together with SLIME. Here is difference between Stone and Brick:
1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
But you can’t put together a many-membered body – a living temple of God on earth — if you can’t press the
bricks(STONES) up close to each other in the building process. You know what happens when there are gaps in the seams between thebricks(STONES): It gives the “rats” an easy way to get into the temple. GODS TEMPLE CANNOT, MUST NOT, WILL NOT EVER BE BUILT OF BRICKS! I am going to interject an article here just to demonstrate.
At the very beginning of the Bible, in the eleventh chapter of Genesis, we have this description of the Tower of Babel:
While men were migrating eastward, they discovered a valley in the land of Sennaar and settled there. They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them.” They used bricks for stone and bitumen for mortar. They then said, “Let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves lest we be scattered all over the earth.” [Genesis 11:2-4]
Many people, yours truly included, believe that the Tower of Babel is the perfect symbol of secular society. By “secular society” I mean a world that sets itself up in arrogant opposition to the will of God.
Note that the Tower of Babel was constructed of bricks. Bricks have four characteristics.
First, they are unnatural and artificial. You won’t find a brick occurring in nature.
Second, they are identical and uniform. It’s not easy to distinguish one brick from another.
Third, they are functionally undifferentiated and interchangeable. A brick can serve equally well anywhere in a wall.
Fourth, they are all but worthless. So what if you lose a brick. There are hundreds more just like it.What could be more unnatural and artificial than a society that rejects God? In such a state, citizens will be made to conform to uniform standards and will lose their individuality.[1] Their work will be reduced to interchangeable roles. And, because they have lost all uniqueness, they will become utterly worthless[2].
Now, listen to what Saint Paul has to say in his Second Letter to the Corinthians:
If then any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the former things have passed away; behold, they are made new! [2 Corinthians 5:17]
In opposition to the Tower of Babel, we have a new creation. This is how Saint Peter describes this new creation:
Draw near to him [viz. Christ], a living stone,rejected indeed by men but chosen and honored by God. Be you yourselves as living stones, built thereon into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. [1 Peter 2:4-5]
There you have it. Bravely standing against secular society, the Tower of Babel, built of bricks, we have a new creation, the Church,a temple built of living stones.
Living stones have four characteristics.
First, living stones are not just natural, but supernatural.
Second, they are utterly unique. No two are exactly alike.
Third, they are irreplaceable. A stone that occupies a particular place in a wall can fit nowhere else.
Fourth, they are extremely precious.What could be more supernatural than a society in which Christ dwells? In the eyes of Jesus, every human being is utterly unique and unrepeatable. What two human beings are exactly alike? In the Church, every person is irreplaceable, because each one of us has a mission no one else can fulfill. Finally, in the heart of Christ, every human being is precious,because every one of us is made in the image and likeness of God. Each one of us, therefore, has infinite value.
The question is this: Which would I rather be—a brick in secular society or a living stone in the temple of the Church? In the former edifice, we lose our identity. In the latter, we become who we are meant to be. C.S. Lewis puts it this way. In his book The Screwtape Letters, he writes of God’s plan for His human creatures:
[He] sets an absurd value on the distinctness of every one of them. When He talks of their losing their selves, He means only abandoning the clamour of self-will; once they have done that, He really gives them back all their personality, and boasts…that when they are wholly His they will be more themselves than ever. [Letter XIII]
Only in a secular society—where men and women, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, are interchangeable—only in such a society can “same-sex marriage” and Facebook’s fifty-eight genders be even remotely considered as possibilities. In the Church, however, where men and women, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, are irreplaceable, marriage as anything other than one man and one woman for life is, to use a word from the movie The Princess Bride, “inconceivable.”
Unnatural bricks versus supernatural stones. Secular society versus the Kingdom of God. Interchangeable cogs versus irreplaceable persons. Now there’s something to ponder! Bricks vs. stones. I’m not talking about building a house. I’m talking about building a future.

KING SOLOMON’S TEMPLE AND FREEMASONRY: A FRAMEWORK FOR SELF IMPROVEMENT
TEMPLE ARCHITECTURE AND FREEMASONRY
Beyond any religious context, the building of this great structure provides a symbolic foundation for the process of self-development in Freemasonry. Masonic tradition and ritual refers to the physical architectural processes of the temple’s creation, but as a way to emulate the possibilities of self-growth and enlightenment. This structure depicts the capabilities of men when they work collaboratively, using the right tools to diligently develop themselves in order to be better for the world.
For instance, the process of building the temple provides inspiration and emulates the three degrees of the symbolic Lodge; Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. Apprentices and craftsmen worked to prepare stone that would be used for building and assembly. Master Masons outlined plans and architectural direction to guide their Brethren, harmonious collaboration taking place. Throughout a Mason’s journey, candidates emulate different phases of the development of the Temple where they ultimately represent the structure as a whole upon completion of various degrees.
This is where the Masons go against the plan of God. They, like the Druids and every other cult, have a hierarchy, where you have to earn each advance, step by step. There are NO STEPS in God’s plan. Steps and levels of righteousness, implies that the individual uses their own efforts, skills and abilities to climb the ladder. God’s righteousness is gift, provided by the one man, Jesus Christ, for all and when we accept the sacrifice as our redemption, we receive the gift. It is not earned by our efforts.
THE MASONIC LEGEND OF HIRAM ABIFF
Related to the construction of the Temple, Masonic tradition records the legend of Hiram Abiff in the Third Degree. The allegory describes Hiram Abiff as Chief Architect working alongside King Solomon and Hiram of Tyre. Construction of the temple lasted years, and members of the craft were frustrated with the longevity of the building process and the time required to advance in their titles and expertise. Three demanded Hiram divulge the knowledge of a Master Mason in order to accelerate their advancement in Masonry without the required years of experience. Upon Hiram’s refusal, the men struck him dead.
In the night, the murderers moved his body outside the city to be buried, marking the site with a sprig of acacia. The grave, however, was soon discovered and those at fault were brought to justice. Freemasons throughout the world find meaning in the legend of Hiram as an example of faith, fidelity, courage, and justice.
Today, the beam signed by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during their visit to the World Trade Center site on June 14th was installed in One World Trade Center – it’s among the final beams added to the 104-story building.
During their visit earlier this summer, the President toured the rising skyscraper, greeted construction workers and signed the steel beam. In red marker, the President wrote:
“We remember. We rebuild. We come back stronger!”

On April 30, 2012, One World Trade Center surpassed the Empire State Building to become the tallest skyscraper in New York City at 1,271 feet above street level. Today, One World Trade Center steel is at 1,368 feet, the height of the original World Trade Center. When One World Trade Center is completed, its spire will rise to 1,776 feet, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

What’s the Meaning Behind the WTC Logo?
Every logo tells a story – especially the World Trade Center logo. An essential part of rebuilding the World Trade Center was the development of a logo and brand identity that could embody our unique story shaped by our complex past and ever-evolving future. This place holds a special significance to New York City, the United States, and the rest of the world – but it means something different to everyone.
The logo that you see today, created by Landor Associates, went through several design iterations to ensure it captured the many stories and visions held by World Trade Center stakeholders, from developers to tenants to tourists. The result: a logo of five central pillars that embody the World Trade Center’s mission to never forget while always moving forward.
Ahead, we explain the historical significance and meaning depicted in elements of the logo. The pillars and the negative space between them in the logo capture symbols of the past, the Twin Towers, the 9/11 Memorial Pools, and the Trident, while also incorporating the present and future by representing the rebuilt office towers on campus and the iconic new skyline of Lower Manhattan.
History – Twin Towers
Upon completion in the early 1970s, the Twin Towers became one of the best-known symbols of New York City and for a time, the world’s tallest buildings. The acclaimed structures were the centerpiece of the original World Trade Center and remain a central part of the campus’ story. In the logo, the towers are represented front and center by two parallel lines formed from the two lower bars and the negative space above them.
Reflection – 9/11 Memorial Pools
The 9/11 Memorial Pools of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum are depicted in the logo by the two lower pillars that descend downward and echo the pools’ structure. The 9/11 Memorial Pools were built in the footprint of the Twin Towers. That is carried into the logo, as the bottom half of the pillars that represent the pools, also make up the depiction of the Twin Towers iterated above.
The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the 2001 and 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.
Resilience – Trident
The trident in the World Trade Center logo symbolizes the iconic tridents formed by the steel columns of the Twin Towers. After 9/11, parts of these structures remained standing, a striking reminder of New York City’s strength and resilience. Today, two tridents stand in the entry Pavilion of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
Remembrance – Tribute in Light
On the anniversary of September 11, the “Tribute in Light,” twin beams of light, cast four miles into the sky from dusk until dawn to honor and remember those killed. These beams are shown in the logo’s negative space between the three pillars, aiming upward as the “Tribute in Light” does into the night sky yearly on September 11.
Optimism – 17.76° Angle
The logo’s top three pillars form an angle of 17.76 degrees to represent One World Trade Center’s symbolic height of 1,776 feet and “1776,” the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. The increasing height of the logo’s pillars also reflects the campus site plan. Each office tower is arranged in an ascending tower, reaching the tallest point at One World Trade Center.
Determination – 5 Tower World Trade Center Masterplan
The World Trade Center Masterplan, “Memory Foundations,” by Studio Daniel Libeskind outlines the campus’ rebuilding plan and mission to return as the center of Lower Manhattan. The plan includes five total towers on the 16-acre campus. In the logo, that’s one pillar for each building.
4 World Trade Center opened in 2013, One World Trade Center opened in 2014, and 3 World Trade Center opened in 2018. In February 2021, the Port Authority announced Silverstein Properties Inc and Brookfield Properties will develop a commercial and residential 5 World Trade Center. Designs for 2 World Trade Center are still being finalized.

Israel, the Illuminati, and the Rothschilds

What is interesting about the Rothschilds is not only how deeply involved they are with the banking cartels, but how much interest they have in the nation of Israel. Is this because they are pro-Israel as an authentic Christian is pro-Israel? Do they want what is best for Israel? Are they essentially, on God’s side where Israel is concerned?
I’ve included a photo of the Israeli Supreme Court building, which was built with House of Rothschild money and literally forced on the people of Israel. Notice that included in the design is a pyramid with an all-seeing eye. This and other occultic symbols make up this monstrosity that Israel must deal with strictly because of the Rothschild’s Illuminati.Symbols are everything to them and the design of the Supreme Court pictured above is said to include many symbols of the occult that are obvious throughout. The Rothschilds have been involved in the Middle East for a variety of reasons. One author notes that the Rothschilds “began their multi-million dollar investment in the Zionist state of Israel in 1882 in order to preserve their control over the Suez Canal and future water rights.”[2] See? It’s all about money for them.
They continue their involvement in Israel today as noted with the Israeli Supreme Court, as one example. Beyond this, the Rothschilds are believed to be the major sponsor of the upcoming Temple project. Orthodox Jews want the Jewish Temple to be rebuilt on the Temple Mount. Obviously, several factors are involved that prohibit this from taking place at the moment. Most notably, the Dome of the Rock mosque that sits atop the Temple Mount, as well as the Al-Aqsa mosque not far away, located on the same Temple Mount. Muslims of course, consider these mosques to be holy places for Muslims (though the city of Jerusalem is never once directly mentioned in any portion of the Qur’an). The Dome of the Rock has been built over the place where it is said Muhammad ascended to heaven.
Rebuilding a Jewish Temple on the same Temple Mount would require either the removal of the Dome of the Rock mosque at the very least, or relocating the Jewish Temple to another place on the Temple Mount. Neither of these solutions would sit well with either Muslims or Jews.
“The Rothschilds have been the main financial sponsors of archaeological digs in Israel. The Masada Dig was first known to the Israelis as the ‘Edmond de Rothschild Masada Dig’ under the auspices of the Rothschilds’ Palestine Exploration Fund. The PEF established the Biblical Archaeology Society which publishes the Biblical Archaeology Review touting it as the authority on Solomon’s Temple.
“In December of 1995, a month after Rabin was assassinated, the Jerusalem Masonic Lodge was established adjacent to the Temple Mount in the underground Grotto of King Solomon. The lodge was founded by the Grand Master of the Italian illuminati Giuliano Di Bernardo who at the opening ceremony declared, “The rebuilding of the Temple is at the center of our studies.”[3]
Another author notes, “The Rothschild relationship to the Jews is deceiving.The family stance is publicized as ‘pro-Jewish,’ and they have given abundant charity to Jewish causes. But their support of the Jewish race has, in most cases, been used for the sole purpose of controlling the direction and profiting from the Jews.The Rothschilds have been described as the royal family of the Jews.Many leading Rothschilds have been dubbed ‘King of the Jews.’ But what kind of Judaism do the Rothschilds support?Do they support the orthodox Jews who believe in the Old Testament and are waiting for the return of the messiah? No.Do they support Messianic Jews who believe Jesus Christ was the messiah who came to save all men? No.”[4]
We know from the Bible that the coming Antichrist will, at the midpoint of the Tribulation, enter the rebuilt Jewish Temple and take up a position inside the Holy of Holies. There, he will declare himself to be God and demand worship. This is essentially what the apostle Paul tells us in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. “Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.”
In order for this event to occur, the Jewish Temple will obviously need to be rebuilt. Since it appears so obvious from many sources that the Rothschilds have been busy supporting Israel for several hundred years,they will also support them in their bid to rebuild the Temple. This is the Temple that will exist during the coming Tribulation and it will be within the confines of that coming Temple that the Antichrist will declare himself to be God.
According to at least one website, the Rothschilds actually purchased the entire Temple Mount and some surrounding acreage for the sum of 500 million francs.[5]If this is true, then obviously, the Rothschilds control what occurs on the Temple Mount. It is possible they are simply allowing things go their natural course for now, but this same website that tells us of the Rothschilds’ purchase, tells us of a plan that will work in their favor so that the Jewish Temple will be rebuilt.
Ultimately, part of this plan includes having a permanent “home of worship” atop the Temple Mountso that each group could worship side-by-side without interference from the other two groups. Interestingly enough, at least one website highlights this possibility, calling it “God’s Holy Mountain.”[6]
As noted with the painting from the “God’s Holy Mountain” site, people of all three main faiths gather together on the Temple Mount to worship their respective God. Of course, Muslims believe that Allah and the God of the Bible are the same, so there is no difficulty for them. Christians, on the other hand, do not believe that Allah and Jehovah are the same at all (in spite of the fact that the name “Allah” simply means God).
Yet, this is part of the Rothschilds’ plan that is in the making. For this to work, each group will have to be willing to compromise and unfortunately, neither authentic Christians nor orthodox Jews will be willing to do so. However, this will not stop the Rothschilds from moving ahead with their plan to recreate the top of the Temple Mount so that a house of worship is available to all three groups. In the end though, we know that at least enough of the Jewish Temple will be rebuilt that a Holy of Holies will exist.
Regarding the Rothschilds, “It [remains] their belief that whenever these three religions [are] once pacified to live in harmony with each other under the control of the International Community, it would eventually be transformed into a New World Order Religion…the ultimate solution to thousands of years of hatred, pogroms, sectarian wars and international hotspots would be neutralized by having a common home for each of the great religions to worship.”[7] (emphasis added)
Accordingly, the Pope himself will be on hand in Jerusalem at that future point “to dedicate the groundbreaking for the new international, interfaith worship center, [and] he will declare all world’s religions to be united, and the New World Order Religion will be born!”[8]
The problem is that many see the difficulties in the Middle East and specifically as they are related to the Temple Mount to be political problem. The reality is that this is not a political problem at all (or at least not solely), but largely a religious problem.“Any purely political settlement in the Middle East would not, by itself, bring peace. Here is where it gets interesting, from a political, religious, and global perspective. The Rothschilds (as well as their Illuminati) learned quite some time ago that war and rumors of war can be used to not only keep people and nations off-balance, but also used to change the way society thinks about issues.
It appears that this is exactly what the Rothschilds have done and continue to do with respect to the situation in Jerusalem especially. War has often been used as solutions for prime objectives laid out by the global elite. It appears to be the same with Jerusalem and the entire Middle East problem. The main goal is peace for Jews, Muslims, and Christians, allowing all three groups to worship on the same Temple Mount without fear of reprisals from any group.

Until peace is achievable, the powers that be are keeping war and rumors of war on the table as a viable tool to actually promote peace.
Several months ago, a proposal was laid out that would grant Jews certain days/times to go to the Temple Mount to pray.[11] While it is doubtful that the Muslim leadership will agree to this, it is an option and even if this fails, other options may well be put forth.
The problem of the Middle East seems to be that human powers dominated by dark spiritual forces are pushing things to happen in the Middle East. Wars and rumors of wars are being used to keep things in a constant state of flux. This will constantly put pressure on rulers and leaders to do whatever they can to bring peace to the nation of Israel, surrounded by Arabs and Muslims.
It appears, in many ways, to be coming to a head. “The Illuminati that represents the interests of the Israeli Freemasons, the Rothschilds and the Federal Reserve, the Vatican, and the Jesuits were in essence manipulating the world geo-politics in order to fulfill the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation and produce a decade of ‘fear of wars’ not just War.”[12]These warlike situations will continue until the Illuminati can manipulate things to such an extent that the necessary political and religious changes can be reached. Once this is accomplished, “peace” will be achieved and the new Temple can then be rebuilt. Once the Temple is rebuilt, things can then move ahead to eventually reveal the “man of sin” who will be the final leader of the world. To this end, the Rothschilds, the Illuminati, the UN, and all other New Age-type secret societies have been working.
What happens in the Middle East occurs due to the direct control of the Illuminati simply because the plan for a one-world government culminates with Jerusalem. As far as the world is concerned now, the constant propaganda fed to society by the news and agents of the Illuminati is believed; that Israel is the source of problems and had Israel not moved into that area of the world in the first place, once again becoming a viable nation in 1948, all would be well.That tension needs to continue to exist until all other objectives are in place.

God gives us the Bible to make us internally strong, not to give us rules to follow.
Realizing that God’s Word will bring real, positive change into our lives makes a relationship with God less theoretical and more personal.
In this devotional, we’ll dive into one of Jesus’ parables—the story of the wise and foolish builders.This story teaches us that God’s Word will make us strong enough to handle anything life throws at us if we listen to it and do what it says.
On the other hand, we can learn from the times we collapse under pressure and use those moments to change what we rely on. Understanding the way we handle the storms of life can help us recognize what we’re building our lives on, and learn how to trust God and his way instead.
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but you don’t do what I say?The people who come to me, who listen to my teachings and obey them— I will show you what they are like: They are like a man building a house. He digs deep and builds his house on rock. The floods come, and the water crashes against the house. But the flood cannot move the house, because it was built well. But the people who hear my words and do not obey are like a man who builds a house without preparing a foundation. When the floods come, the house falls down easily and is completely destroyed.”

Jesus tells us in this story that we can choose what we will build our lives on. It is a choice between relying on God’s Word or something else, which is a big deal because what you choose to build your life on will determine your future. Jesus’s parable above makes this clear and encourages us to rely on God’s Word.
This story also tells us that everyone will experience storms. Both people in this story experience a flood crashing against their house.Regardless of what you build your life on, no one is exempt from experiencing the storms of life.
The Bible teaches us what storms can look and feel like:
Panic comes like a stormy blast… misfortunesweeps in like a whirlwind … sorrow and anguish weigh you down.

Storms are the outward circumstances that can bring misfortune(a distressing or unfortunate incident or event) which can lead to panic(fear or anxiety; distress; wildly unthinking behavior).
If we find ourselves collapsing emotionally during one of these storms, all hope is not lost—storms and floods show us what we are really relying on and help us learn how to build our lives on something stronger.
One memorable storm in my life happened when I was playing football with the Xtreme Football League (XFL). I was excited to be in the starting lineup because I saw the league and upcoming season as a way for NFL teams to notice and recruit me.
Then I suddenly pulled my groin muscle and was put on injured reserve. This unexpected storm brought a flood of painful emotions along with it. I was afraid I was missing my opportunity to get another shot with the NFL. I was embarrassed that I was injured and was jealous of my teammates. I was angry; I felt this injury was extremely unfair. I wanted to play anyway and was resentful of the team’s decision to sit me.
Though I did have a relationship with God, I didn’t look to him or his Word for guidance. Instead I chose to let my emotions lead me. I lashed out both publicly and privately. I confronted my coaches, and got angry at the equipment manager. I even threw my cleats across the locker room.
I was facing storms but choosing to rely on myself to get through them, which led to greater destruction, distress, and difficulty for me and for those around me. Eventually (as I’ll explain a little later) I learned from this emotional crash, and it helped me decide to change. I became stronger as I decided to build my life God’s way.
In the rest of this devotional, we will look more closely at each of the people in this parable. They can help us understand how to build our lives on a strong foundation so we don’t collapse emotionally in the storms of life.

It is important to stop and reflect on how we are handling life and what we are building on. If we build our lives on something other than the Word of God, we won’t have a foundation strong enough to handle the storms and floods of life. Even if relying on ourselves seems easier in the moment, our decisions will eventually catch up to us.
As I shared earlier, the “floodwaters” of my unexpected injury exposed that I had not built my life on a strong foundation. Losing my ability to play football crushed me emotionally, because I had built my life on my achievements, abilities, and emotions. The things I relied on for security and confidence were collapsing around me.
Following my emotions in response to that injury led me to make destructive choices that affected me and other people in my life. I finally hit a low point where I realized I needed to change.

I prayed and asked God for help changing my heart and putting his Word into practice. I looked to God’s Word for hope by reading books and chapters in the Bible about spiritual people who faced trials, yet relied on God and his Word to come out victorious.
I also decided to listen to the input and feedback of spiritual men who advised me to go back to my coaches to apologize. Rather than competing with my teammates, I became a fan of theirs and built relationships with them (even though I still had moments of envying their success).
I recommitted to reading the Bible and putting it into practice, and even started a group Bible study for the team. I helped a good friend of mine build a relationship with God. The same equipment manager I had lashed out at earlier (when I threw my cleats across the locker room) eventually studied the Bible and also built a personal relationship with God that radically changed his life.
Before I knew it, I was even back on the field playing football.
The good thing about storms is that they wash away the weak and wobbly parts of our lives,and make room to build something better. Even the moments where we feel we are collapsing emotionally can be the start of something new. God can always give us a new start.

God wants to help us build our lives in a way that enables us to stand strong.The challenge is that building our lives this way requires the mental, emotional, and spiritual effort of digging down deep.Digging down deep helps us gain understanding about what we truly rely on or are motivated by.Then we can practice relying on God’s Word where we find it most challenging to do so.
A huge part of digging deep is learning to recognize the signs that the “floodwaters” of life are starting to knock us down. Then we can change before we start making choices that hurt ourselves or other people.
Here are some common signs we might be starting to crumble under the pressures and problems of life:
- We start hiding our real feelings. Relying on deceit makes us crumble (Isaiah 30:12-15).
- We put up a strong front around our friends. Pride and acting like you don’t need help lead to destruction (Proverbs 16:18).
- We have chronic negative thoughts about ourselves and the future. When we rely on ourselves we can’t see the good things that come our way (Jeremiah 17:5-6).
- Our thoughts are constantly racing. Fear and worry can make our thoughts run out of control (Psalm 94:19 TPT).
- We are quick to cut off friends who have hurt us. Bitterness is a poisonous way we handle the pain and hurt of life if we don’t let God’s grace help us to forgive. (Hebrews 12:15).
- We become dependent on the attention of others to feel good about ourselves. People’s approval is fickle and if you rely on it you will feel trapped (Proverbs 29:25).
- We are jealous and envious of others’ success or happiness. Jealousy leaves us unfulfilled, resentful, and always chasing the next thing we think will make us happy (Proverbs 14:30).
Recognizing these signs is an important step to digging deep so we can rebuild our lives on a stronger foundation.
When we make purposeful decisions to build our lives on God’s Word, then our lives can withstand any circumstance, no matter how challenging.
Pause and reflect
- Take some time to practice “digging deep” by asking yourself the following question: Do I recognize any of the signs listed above in my life? Which ones?
How do I build God’s way?
What good is it to mouth the words, “Lord! Lord!” if you don’t live by My teachings? What matters is that you come to Me, hear My words, and actually live by them.

Putting the Bible into practice is what helps you believe God is real and also know that what Jesus teaches is true(John 7:17). When we put the Bible into practice and see the results of what it says in our lives,our trust in God and his Word will grow.This is how God becomes personal to us.We see how his words make a real difference in our lives.They aren’t just stories, rules, or words on paper. They are personal and intended to make us strong.
Building our lives on God’s Word doesn’t exempt us from storms, but it does help us withstand them.God’s Word equips us emotionally (2 Corinthians 10:5 Voice), mentally (Luke 10:19 AMPC),and spiritually (Ephesians 6:13-18 MSG) for all kinds of tests and trials. It equips us to do good regardless of what happens in our lives or what other people around us do.
In the Bible, God gives us options outside of our own emotions, impulses, or abilities. Then we can handle pressure, anxiety, and conflict without crumbling.
Let’s look at some biblical options that can help us handle life God’s way when storms come:
- Being honest with God relieves us of pressure and shame, and keeps us safe from life’s storms (Psalm 32:1-7).
- Admitting our needs to our friends and asking for help makes us stronger (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).
- Trusting that God is bigger than we are helps us quiet our negative thoughts (1 John 3:19-20 VOICE, Jeremiah 29:11).
- Believing God cares about us calms our worries (Luke 12:6-7 TPT).
- Choosing to love and forgive leads us to have happier relationships (Galatians 6:1-3).
- Learning to find satisfaction in God alone is freeing (Psalm 73:23-26).
- Embracing the unique and different things about you and those around you is far more fulfilling than competing with people (Galatians 5:25-26 MSG).
Believing and obeying these promises will actually lead to a much better life than the one we build if we live by our emotions.
When we experience close connections, forgiveness, freedom from shame, loving relationships, best friendships, and more, then we will grow in our belief in the power of God and the reality of God. We will be moved to be in a relationship with God, and to keep obeying him and serving him.
We can make a few key decisions to build our lives God’s way:
- Set special time aside for God daily. When you do this, you are telling God that his relationship matters to you.
- Listen to his Word. Spend time understanding your own needs. Find books of the Bible to read and verses to memorize that encourage you.
- Live by his teachings. Choose verses of the Bible you want to obey and look for the opportunity in your day to apply them to the things you face or people you interact with.
Build your faith in God’s Word today by choosing to obey a specific scripture to help you with a challenge you are going through.
The more I have relied on the Bible to handle my life, the more my faith in God has grown. My ability to handle life in the most meaningful and impactful ways has grown too.God’s Word has brought me joy even when life has sent unexpected storms my way.

When you know this is normal, you can have off moments and not attach yourself to it, and still manifest what you desire. It’s what we did before. When we were upset or angry, before knowing about the Law, we did not ponder over whether it would ruin our bank balance the next day, or our relationships. We actually were detached from it- by not caring at all. But now, some people become too attached to these emotions, and assume it’s an obstacle or horrible thing that will mess up the process. You may think you are doing something wrong.
I am not telling you to “just know” or to “just believe”, but more-so to not force yourself to know or believe, because this is still trying to do something. Don’t try to force yourself to have faith, to shift into a state, to feel the feeling, to visualize or say affirmations. Let yourself be- you are a human being, not a human doing.
Letting yourself be, is what will dissolve the illusion of reality, such as your fears. And when you let yourself be, peace and love can actually reveal itself. Faith and belief will come on its own, that state will come on its own, being in the wish fulfilled, will come on its own. And this is the foundation you want, to manifest your desires easily and effortlessly.
Some are always trying to figure it out, trying to fix something, worrying, trying to figure out the answers to a specific question, etc. You do not have to do anything. You do not have to fix or change anything, you simply be. You do not have to worry about implementing anything, or doing anything. Being does not mean you stop thinking or feeling, it means you stop identifying, analyzing or judging. Stop fighting with your self. Answers come on their own when we stop trying to figure things out, and they can come quicker too!
Do you not trust in that greater power that our human ego cannot possibly fathom? And how lovely is it that we are this greater power, every essence of it.
The need for control goes away completely, because you realize you don’t have to control anything. Needing to control and fix things, stems from thinking that the 3D shadow world is set in stone, and then you need to do something about it. But when you step into love and just be (even if you feel anxious or have fears and questions), the 3D world conforms to you, with ease, and then all of the answers to your questions will come to you easily, and your fears will dissolve on its own.
Fear and love can’t exist simultaneously, at the same time. Dissolve the fear with the love of who you are, by just observing and being. We have to trust and allow that the power we cannot fully comprehend, is taking care of everything on its own accord.
Trust that because you have a desire, that already means it’s something very simple to manifest. If your desires are from God, and God is love, then why would it be something complicated and hard?
Optical Illusion
To see from the eyes of God, is to see through the illusion of everything. When coming into this new way of looking at life, you have to see everything through a different perspective. Perception is important.
I no longer needed to control or struggle against things. The very acceptance of everything being perfect as it is, looking at it from that perspective, rather than a fearful one, automatically brings peace and harmony to every situation. It automatically conforms to your desires, without you lifting a finger.
Don’t fall for the illusion of what appears to be bad. When we fall for the illusion of this shadow world, we tend to abide by the rules of this shadow world, and care more about it. Things such as time, distance, age, etc. But when you open your heart to who you really are, and let your True Self break through all of these illusions you have accepted, these illusions will seem nonsensical to you. It is true freedom. It is Love.
I know it is strange to think, that by just being present and going with the flow, that your desires can manifest naturally. That you do not need to work so hard at yourself, or manipulate or force anything. Bliss and happiness comes on its own accord. Your self concept changes on its own. As a matter of fact, nothing is actually changing. The Truth of your desires and of who you really are, is just getting a chance to be front and center on this stage we call life. To me, this is the true meaning of allowing.
There are many ways you can allow. If you want to do techniques, fine. But I urge you to do them from a place of peace and of knowing who you really are, or at least accepting that your desire is a promise and that nothing or no one can take it away from you. I love journaling, visualizing and meditating. These things make me happy. I do them from a place of knowing my desires are going to manifest no matter what. Sometimes I just declare something and then watch videos, and the desires manifest in a few hours. I do whatever I please, and whatever makes me happy that day, all from a place of Love.
This is how I like to live my life and manifest my desires. No force or effort is required. If I feel down, I let it pass through me and I do not identify with them. They are just feelings and emotions that are arising to be released. They are not out to get you or harm you.
There are never any problems or any issues. I mean this literally, when I say this. What we humans think are problems and issues, our True Self already knows this is working out perfectly as it is, for the fulfillment of our desires. I recommend you do not depend too much on the finite human mind. The mind and body are also just illusions, and when we identify with it too much, we conceive of problems and issues, and we feel pain and suffering. It just doesn’t see a way sometimes.
How wonderful is it to know, that although sometimes we cannot conceive of a way something will manifest, that, that is actually perfectly normal and okay, because there is always a way. Trust your desires- they are God given.
