Updates added 12/27/23
It seems it is time to update you on the progress of the NEOM Project in Saudi Arabia. It s interesting that out of this Project may come an awakening.  Many people are learning for the first time about the TRUE MT SINAI where GOD spoke to the PEOPLE OF EARTH and gave them His Commandments.  Surprisingly, Saudi Arabia has been receptive to the idea of allowing tourists to visit the Mount of the Law in the center of PROJECT NEOM.  EVEN CHRISTIANS.  In fact, Christians were the first tourist to take advantage of the Visit Visas offered.

It will be interesting to see how things develop.

Updates added 12/27/23

NEOM has just introduced “Siranna,” a new tourism destination within the new sustainable regional development evolving in Northwest Saudi Arabia. Aiming to blend innovation and refinement, while integrating with the coastal terrain, the design seeks to offer a luxury escape, with a 65-key hotel and 35 residences. Prioritizing minimal intervention in nature, Siranna’s development utilizes specific techniques to preserve the local landscape. The architecture pays tribute to the area’s heritage while blending into the mountains and wadi. The initiative aligns with NEOM’s dedication to creating sustainable spaces in nature.
Neom sounds like something straight out of a science-fiction novel.

The in-development Saudi Arabian city-state will have robot maids, flying taxis, and glow-in-the-dark sand, according to confidential planning documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. An artificial moon will light up the sky every night, and a Jurassic Park-style island will let visitors mingle with robot dinosaurs.

But also buried in the 2,300 pages of planning documents obtained by the WSJ are plans for the forcible relocation of local tribes, the creation of human gene-editing clinics, and 24/7 government surveillance — meaning this futuristic city may be more like dystopian sci-fi than the fun Jetsons kind.

Since 2017, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, better known as MBS, has been working with teams of consultants to develop his vision for the $500 billion city in the currently barren northwestern corner of Saudi Arabia.

It won’t be desert for long, though MBS plans to use “cloud seeding” to produce rain over Neom, cooling the city and making fresh produce widely available.

Future citizens not interested in visiting the farmer’s markets will instead be able to make reservations at a Michelin-star restaurant, which Neom aims to have more of per inhabitant than any other place in the world, according to the plans.

As for what else you’ll find in Neom, the WSJ notes plans for world-class schools with hologram teachers, the planet’s best-paying jobs, and glow-in-the-dark sand, because, well, that’s what MBS wants, two people familiar with the project told the WSJ.

“Neom is all about things that are necessarily future-oriented and visionary,” Neom Chief Executive Nadhmi al Nasr told the WSJ. “So we are talking about technology that is cutting edge and beyond — and in some cases still in development and maybe theoretical.”

It’d be easy to get distracted by all the shiny things detailed in the Neom planning documents — but the futuristic city also sounds suspiciously like a totalitarian surveillance state.

That means while you’re chilling on the glowing beach, daydreaming about your next prix fixe meal, a drone equipped with facial-recognition technology will likely be transmitting your location to Neom’s “1984”-esque law enforcement officials.

While on that beach, you likely won’t see any natives — they’ll have long since been “relocated” — but you might see a higher than expected population of buff people.

That’ll be thanks to all the medical clinics genetically modifying Neom’s citizens to be stronger, not to mention smarter — meaning MBS might not just be planning to create the city of the future, but the humans of it as well.

Daily Dose Of Red Pill
July 29th, 2022.

Saudi Arabia has proposed a carbon free 75-mile long “city in a building”, called “The Line”. Built for 9 million people..all packed into a 34sq kilometer area. “Residents have everything they need within 5 minutes”.

I wondered how they would try to get us in “zee pods, eating zee bugs..”, guess this is it right here…

Guessing this will only be a commodity for the microchipped/fully vaxxed people, leaving those who refuse to live as “outcasts”..Little do they know, it would be PARADISE compared to that hellhole ☺

Saudi crown prince says NEOM mega-project to list in 2024

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, July 26 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said on Monday his $500 billion flagship project NEOM, a huge economic zone eventually meant to house nine million people, will be partly financed through a flotation expected in 2024.

The city’s first phase is set to cost 1.2 trillion riyals ($319 billion), half of which will come from the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund, he said.

The crown prince was speaking to reporters, architects, investors and others on Monday attending a presentation that provided updates on The Line project, a key part of the NEOM development.

Saudi Arabia will tap sovereign wealth funds in the region and globally in the fourth quarter of this year to raise part of the remaining 600 billion riyals, which will also be funded through private sector investment and an initial public offering (IPO) that is expected to take place in 2024, he said.

Saudi Arabia will also allocate 300 billion riyals for a fund linked to NEOM, which will invest in companies that set up there.

The crown prince announced plans for NEOM in 2017 as part of his Vision 2030 reform plan, which aims to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy away from oil.

The kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund is the cornerstone investor in NEOM, a 26,500-square-km (10,230-square-mile) high-tech development on the Red Sea with several zones, including industrial and logistics areas.

NEOM is expected to have capacity for 450,000 people by 2026 and 1.5-2 million people by 2030, eventually housing nine million by 2045, the crown prince said. The interim goal would make the city bigger than Abu Dhabi, he said.

Asked why the development was needed, he said it was central to Saudi Arabia’s ambitious population-growth goals and its ability to compete globally.

NEOM will add a trillion riyals to the Saudi stock market value. At least 1.2 trillion in the beginning and the overall will increase after project completion to exceed 5 trillion,” he was quoted as saying on state-owned al-Ekhbariya TV.

At the presentation for The Line, he said Saudi Arabia aimed for its stock exchange to be among the three biggest in the world.

Middle East and North Africa issuers – mostly in the Gulf – raised over $13.5 billion via IPOs in the first half of this year, the bulk in Saudi Arabia, Refinitiv data showed.

The Line is envisioned as a 200-metre-wide series of “modules” for different urban uses sandwiched between two 500-metre-high, 170-km-long mirrored exterior facades that cut through a vast array of desert and mountains. There will be hanging pathways, gardens and even a stadium.

Aiming to run on 100% renewable energy, the relatively compact design is meant to cut waste and minimise environmental impact. Its location has the “perfect” conditions to harness wind energy as well as solar power, the crown prince said.

Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest crude exporter, aims to reach “net zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2060.

The crown prince touted NEOM as a new way of urban living, doing away with cars and allowing residents to feel more connected to nature.

Now, that is too funny!  Living in tiny cubicles, in a totally artificial environment, closed in by GLASS, mirrored to save you from baking in the Hot Saudi Sun I would guess.  Sure, that would make you feel much closer to nature than living in the out doors with the earth under your feet and breathing fresh air.  Absolutely!!  NOT!!!!

“If you have money”, he said, you should “raise the bar” and create something innovative and different.

Since we are doing it from nothing, why should we copy normal cities?” he added.

I believe it’s going to be the best liveable area – by far – in the whole planet.

NEOM in Progress – January 2023

NEOM is opening in 2024 – Here are the top tech opportunities for founders and expansion leaders

🧭 Introducing NEOM and its Key Sites

Hardly anyone escaped the hype around Saudi’s flagship mega project: NEOM, a city, special economic zone, and legislative stand-out in the northwest of Saudi Arabia featuring four core projects: Trojena, Oxagon, and Sindalah, alongside with the infamous The Line. NEOM has a lot to talk about and I look forward to share more about it, but since this article’s focus is on tech opportunities, I will provide just a brief overview of the key sites to kick us off.

🏔️ Trojena is foremost a recreation area in the mountains designed for nature and adventure tourism. It’s already expected to host major sports events in line with an expected opening date of 2026.

🏛️ Oxagon will be the economic and administrative heart of NEOM, a city in – you guessed it – the shape of an octagon, partially built on floating islands. The city is aiming to become a local manufacturing and logistics hub with one of the world’s largest ports. Step-wise opening will begin in 2024.

🏝️ Sindalah is a coastal luxury tourism project centered around pristine beaches and islands in the Red Sea. First hospitality locations are expected to open in 2024.

🏙️ Finally, The Line hardly needs an introduction – this is the 170km linear city designed to be completely road and car-less. It’s meant to function as a modal and testing ground for urban living, sustainability, and technology. It’s planned to reach a population of 1Mio people by 2030.

🕶️ NEOM’s Tech Vision

Aside from the more usual economic opportunities to be found in a rapidly growing, newly developed population and tourism center, NEOM is designed with the intention of being a model region and testing ground for many cutting-edge technologies. A living laboratory where new technologies can be tested and implemented at scale.

Therefore, NEOM is committed to a few remarkable metrics:

  • ♻️ Being a circular economy with minimal or no waste and sustainably sourced materials as well as zero emission energy.
  • 🤖 Put robotic service and AI at the center of the city to perform everything from security, to logistics, and personal assistance tasks with robots outnumbering human residents
  • 🚄 Achieve hyper-connectedness physically (through innovative micro and rapid transport solutions) and in information exchange with one of the world’s fastest internet speeds
  • 📈 Pursue economic diversification in deep-tech and high expertise fields such as biotech, autonomous manufacturing, and next generation entertainment production (AR/VR/3D…)
  • 👨👩👧👦 Be human-centric by optimizing key performance indicators such as quality of life, general health, and sense of community

To achieve these goals, NEOM is partnering with leading tech companies, research institutions, and innovators from around the world. It’s also investing heavily in infrastructure and development, and is committed to regulatory flexibility to encourage innovation.

What Is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)?

A memorandum of understanding is an agreement between two or more parties outlined in a formal document. It is not necessarily legally binding, which depends on the signatories’ intent and the language in the agreement, but signals the willingness of the parties to move forward with a contract.

The MOU can be seen as the starting point for negotiations as it defines the scope and purpose of the talks. Such memoranda are most often seen in international treaty negotiations but also may be used in high-stakes business dealings such as merger talks.

autonomous (adj.)

1777, “subject to its own laws” (in translations of Montesquieu); 1780, “pertaining to
autonomy;”  from Greek autonomos “having one’s own laws,” of animals, “feeding or ranging at will,” from autos “self” (see auto-) + nomos “law” (from PIE root

one-fifth of NEOM, saudi arabia’s futuristic gigacity, is complete…

Feb 22, 2023 —

According to NEOM CEO Nadhmi al-Nasr, work on the futuristic gigacity project in Saudi Arabia is right on track and progressing rapidly. In fact, he has shared that one-fifth of the construction has already been completed.

‘I can say that we have finished what amounts to 20 percent of [NEOM’s] infrastructure and work is ongoing in 2023,’ al-Nasr told international arabic news outlet Al Arabiya (find more here) at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. ‘The most important thing is being able to expand the infrastructure to all areas where we are ready to start building.’

 image screenshots courtesy of NEOM

The statement by Nadhmi al-Nasrby comes just one month after NEOM showed the world the documentation of the four megacities’ construction in a detailed video. In an interview with designboom, which has been updated here to include architectural names that might participate in the project, NEOM’s director of urban planning Tarek Qaddumi says that the design team started the construction of the spine in 2021 in Saudi Arabia, the infrastructure corridor that runs the whole length of one of the cities and perhaps the most known one named THE LINE.

The urban planning director admits that while the team has been looking at a beating-the-scheduled-time agenda, the first modules are hoped to be completed before 2030. ‘However, the first substantial population living on the LINE will be in 2030,’ Qaddumi tells designboom. Architectural firms that might take part in the megacity project include OMAAdjaye AssociatesMorphosisCoop Himmelb(l)auStudio Fuksas, Peri Cobb Freed & Partners, Tom Wiscombe Architecture, HOKDelugan Meissl Associated ArchitectsOyler Wu Collaborative, and UNStudio.

Oxagon city

As the construction grows over time, NEOM has moved to the building phase of the project and the first destination – Sindalah which is due to open its doors in 2024. It attempts to reassure future visitors that the unprecedented architecture is slowly turning into the next holiday destination.

The construction progress video that NEOM released in January 2023, shows real-world footage of the large-scale construction across NEOM regions including THE LINE, Trojena, Sindalah, and Oxagon. It is the first film in what will be an ongoing series showing progress at NEOM as the construction continues.

Based on the video, NEOM calls Sindala its luxury destination dotted with arching and sloping architecture that defines the typical standards of opulence in daily living and what might seem to be private clubhouses with members-only access.

Trojena gets the go-to destination for mountain and dry-land excursions while THE LINE retains its namesake as the flagship city of the four megacities. Oxagon, the fourth city, poses as the center for advanced studies, the probable candidate of NEOM to further drive their research on only using energy sources from solarwind, and hydrogen as it attempts to apply only renewable energy throughout the cities.

NEOM shares it will continuously document construction updates

volocopter, the aimed transportation in the region Qaddumi shares with designboom that NEOM aims to bring back health and joy into the city, and the project hopes to give people back time instead of them being busy with tedious, daily tasks.
We would like to make more time for hobbies, for interests, for friends. And until then, we’ll face challenges and difficulties like any other project, but we have the ambition to make a change in urban life,’ adds Qaddumi. CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr also comments that ‘if we are to solve the challenges of tomorrow, we must face up to them today, no matter how difficult they may seem.
At NEOM, we are addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity by bringing together a community of the brightest minds committed to reimagining what a sustainable future will look like in 20 to 30 years, and building it today. We are redefining the future now. NEOM is open for business.’
the construction of THE LINE’s spine began in 2021

NEOM will be releasing more short films soon
