OCTOPUS MIND CONTROL

This post will hopefully help many people to connect some dots.  The TRUTH is always stranger than fiction.  The dark forces that currently hold us in their power can best be represented by a GIANT SQUID.  You will see why that is as you review the contents of this post.

Understand that the multiple tentacles with suction cups a plenty take enormous effort and peel off.  The grip that the rulers of darkness have on the world we know is all encompassing and strong.  We are just beginning to uncover the truth and learn about the true history of the development of our prison planet.

If you have not seen my earlier posts list here, you might want to check them out before you see continue on with this one.  They will give you background and insight that will help you get the most out of this information

ALL THE NEWS ON THE EARTH’S LARGEST ENVIRONMENT.

From the Editor’s Desk: The Giant Squid Can Be A Panda For The Ocean

How many of you see a panda and automatically think of conservation and the World Wildlife Fund?  The well-known panda logo was designed by the famous conservationist Sir Peter Scott. one of the founding members of WWF.  The idea originated from a panda named Chi Chi transferred into the London Zoo in the same year of inception as WWF.  This panda, the only one outside of the Asia at the time, represented an easily recognizable icon. One who itself was endangered.  Of course, the image has another key feature—it is equally recognizable and impactful in black and white printing.

But this 50-year old panda icon represents a land based conservation mission. Even in an expanded view the panda only represents vertebrates which would incorporate only the most historically charismatic of ocean species, e.g. turtles, whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, and otter.  I find this extremely troubling giving 75% of the earth is ocean and 90% of that is ocean below one kilometer.  And perhaps this is even more unsettling if we consider 90% of known species are invertebrates and 92% of species inhabit the ocean. Invertebrates also incorporate a greater span of ecological roles and body sizes, are fundamental in nutrient cycling, and form the basis of many food chains and habitats for other animals.  Marine invertebrates are no less than key to our planet and vital for our own survival. Yet, marine invertebrates except corals do not attract public or political attention and thus ultimately protection.  Invertebrates are only protected by default when we conserve other species or set ocean aside.

Before we move on to the rest of this article about the mascot.  Let’s take a look at the WWF and learn more of where it started, how it developed and what it is really about.

World Wildlife Fund

In 1961, a broad call for support that was signed by 16 of the world’s leading conservationists. It was called the Morges Manifesto. This manifesto stated that while the expertise to protect the world environment existed, the financial support to achieve this protection did not.

Founders
Philippe Prufer, Guy Mountfort, Edward Nicholson, Godfrey Rockefeller, Julian Huxley, Peter Scott
The World Wide Fund for Nature Inc. (WWF) is a Swiss international non-governmental organization  (NGO)  founded in 1961 that works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment.[4] It was formerly named the World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States.
So we see that the WWF is a NGO or non-government organization,  which does not mean that it is not connected with any government, because it really is part of the WORLD GOVERNEMNT, a NGO’s are entities that are working to undermine the current GOVERNMENTS of EVERY NATION.  They are the self appointed elites who are building the NEW WORLD ORDER with YOUR MONEY.)

ABOUT WORLD WILDLIFE FUND

Founding
The idea for a fund on behalf of endangered animals was officially proposed by Victor Stolan to Sir Julian Huxley in response to articles he published in the British newspaper The Observer. This proposal led Huxley to put Stolan in contact with Edward Max Nicholson, a person who had had thirty years experience of linking progressive intellectuals with big business interests through the Political and Economic Planning think tank. Nicholson thought up the name of the organization and the original panda logo was designed by Sir Peter Scott. WWF was conceived on 29 April 1961, under the name of World Wildlife Fund. Its first office was opened on 11 Septemberin IUCN’s headquarters at Morges, Switzerland.

Think tank

A think tank, or policy institute, is a research institute that performs research and advocacy concerning topics such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, technology, and culture. Wikipedia

Several major current think tanks were founded in the 19th century. (Industrial Revolution) The Royal United Services Institute was founded in 1831 in London, and the Fabian Society in 1884

In 1865, States first established international organizations to cooperate on specific matters. The International Telecommunication Union was founded in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union, and the Universal Postal Union was established in 1874 in Belgium. Both are now United Nations specialized agencies.

In 1899, the International Peace Conference was held in The Hague to elaborate instruments for settling crises peacefully, preventing wars and codifying rules of warfare. It adopted the Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes and established the Permanent Court of Arbitration, which began work in 1902.  (And we can all see how that is going SO WELL!  Resolved all our issues and kept the WORLD PEACE all these years – Right?  WRONG!!)

The oldest American think tank, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1910 by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie

The predecessor of the United Nations was the League of Nations, established in 1919, after World War I, under the Treaty of Versailles “to promote international cooperation and to achieve peace and security.”

As of 20 April 1946, the League of Nations ceased to exist, having handed over all of its assets to the United Nations, and having granted the new UN Secretariat full control of its Library and archives.

Do you see that these organizations have been allowed to function because they promised peace and security… Have you seen them hold up to their promise??  NO!  The same elusive peace and security are NO WHERE TO BE SEEN!  Wars and conflicts have never ceased, they continue.  Weapons of destruction continue to be created and amassed unabated.  Relationships between nations, races, and religions have been improved, in fact they have become increasingly violent and oppressive.  WHERE IS THE PROMISE??  THEY CANNOT DELIVER.  ALL THESE ORGANIZATIONS HAVE MANAGED TO DO IS TAKE OUR MONEY AND STEAL OUR RIGHTS!!   AND YET YOU BELIEVE and CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THESE LIARS.  I know you are forever HOPEFUL!!  BUT YOU ARE PLACING YOUR HOPE AND FAITH IN THAT WHICH HAS NO SUBSTANCE.   PUT YOUR FAITH IN ALMIGHTY GOD!

Category: Think tanks established in 1921

 “Think tanks established in 1950”

“Think tanks established in 1951”

“Think tanks established in 1952”

The list shown above is all of the THINK TANKS that were already in existence by the time the WWF was established.  You can see that there was plenty of parties involved with lots of money behind them.  PHONY PHILANTHROPY has been their trademark all these years.  These people lead the public to believe that their interest are altruistic, but in reality they have an AGENDA and it is not one that will benefit the masses.

Since  the  first  Think  Tank  that  grew  out  of  the  Industrial Revolution  in  1831  the  number  of  think  tanks  continues  to  expand.   These  unofficial,  unelected,  self-appointed  arrogant “experts” have been gaining power over our lives exponentially.  No one has questioned their motives, or stood in their way all these years.  They keep themselves occulted.  Are answerable to NO ONE.  They are composed of the wealthiest people in the world and they are made richer by the contributions and donations from the unwitting public.

ONE OF THE MOST WELL KNOWN THINK TANKS and a perfect example of the dangers of these groups is THE WEF – World Economic Forum.

The World Economic Forum ( WEF) Originally called the European Management Forum, is an international non-governmental and lobbying organisation [1] based in Cologny, canton of Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded on 24 January 1971 by German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab.
The WWF was conceived to act as an international fundraising organisation to support the work of existing conservation groups, primarily the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Its establishment was marked with the signing of the “Morges Manifesto”, the founding document that sets out the fund’s commitment to assisting worthy organizations struggling to save the world’s wildlife:
It changed its name to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) in 1956 and was also known as the World Conservation Union (IUCN) from 1990 to 2008. The IUCN is the world’s oldest global environmental organization. Its headquarters are in Gland, Switz.

They need above all money, to carry out mercy missions and to meet conservation emergencies by buying land where wildlife treasures are threatened, and in many other ways. Money, for example, to pay guardians of wildlife refuges …. Money for education and propaganda among those who would care and help if only they understood. Money to send out experts to danger spots and to train more local wardens and helpers in Africa and elsewhere. Money to maintain a sort of ‘war room’ at the international headquarters of conservation, showing where the danger spots are and making it possible to ensure that their needs are met before it is too late.

1961 Incorporated in the District of Columbia on December 1, 1961, WWF-United States names Dwight D. Eisenhower its President of Honor
(Columbia – very important significance to the ELITE/Occult)
SO, Here we see that the WWF is the beginning of the INTERNATION/GLOBAL Environmentalist Movement. It formed the FINANCIAL BASIS for the growth of that AGENDA.  It also laid al the necessary PROPOGAND and “EDUCATION” that would build public support for the movement. Naturally it began in SWITZERLAND and that is where the MONEY is held in TRUST.  Like these people can be “trusted”.

— Morges ManifestoDutch Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld helped found the World Wildlife Fund, becoming its first President in 1961. In 1963, the Foundation held a conference and published a major report warning of anthropogenic global warming, written by Noel Eichhorn based on the work of Frank Fraser Darling (then foundation vice president), Edward Deevey, Erik Eriksson, Charles Keeling, Gilbert Plass, Lionel Walford, and William Garnett.

In 1970, along with Duke of Edinburgh and a few associates, Prince Bernhard established the WWF’s financial endowment The 1001: A Nature Trust to handle the WWF’s administration and fundraising. 1001members each contributed $10,000 to the trust. Prince Bernhard resigned his post after being involved in the Lockheed Bribery Scandal.

In 1976 Prince Bernhard was implicated in a bribery scandal involving the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

The WWF has set up offices and operations around the world. It originally worked by fundraising and providing grants to existing non-governmental organizations with an initial focus on the protection of endangered species. As more resources became available, its operations expanded into other areas such as the preservation of biological diversity, sustainable use of natural resources, the reduction of pollution, and climate change. The organization also began to run its own conservation projects and campaigns.

1980 With critical support from WWF and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the IUCN  publishes the ground-breaking World Conservation Strategy, stating that humanity exists as part of nature and has no future unless nature and natural resources are conserved.
As the World Wildlife Fund grew in the 70s and 80s, it began to expand its work to conserve the environment as a whole. This reflected the interdependence of all living things, rather than focusing on select species in isolation. While continuing to use its well-known acronym, WWF’s name changed in 1986 from the World Wildlife Fund to the World Wide Fund for Nature

In 1986, the organization changed its name to World Wide Fund for Nature, while retaining the WWF initials. However, it continued at that time to operate under the original name in the United States and Canada.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)is dedicated to protecting the world’s wildlife by directing its conservation efforts toward protecting endangered spaces and addressing global threats. WWF operates at the forefront of science and policy debates, but also on the frontlines of marine conservation where people’s source of income depends exclusively on there being enough fish in the sea. Supporting communities to securing coastal livelihoods and restoring fish stocksis central to our strategy. WWF works with governments, partners and the private sector to design and implement a true Sustainable Blue Economy to ensure that the ocean economy contributes to prosperity and the resilience of coastal communities, today and long into the future.

WWF’s 5 strategies to sustain the ocean

  1. Advocate for integrated ocean management
  2. Support small-scale fisheries and sustainable aquaculture
  3. Promote the value of services provided by ecosystems
  4. Promote sustainable marine tourism
  5. Manage the impacts of oil and gas and seabed mining industries

Regional Seas and WWF

WWF continues to support and is actively involved within the Regional Seas programmes.

  • The WWF Arctic Programme. WWF-US cooperate with the Wider Caribbean region in the SPAW (Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife) Protocol implementation and the Species list.
  • WWF has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNEP through the Secretariat for the Nairobi Convention for the implementation of programmes in the marine and coastal areas of the Western Indian Ocean region.
Near as I can determine the WWF went from Word Wildlife Fund to the the  World Wide Fund for Nature  1n 1986, and that is when they started working to protect and manage the WATERS as well as our Environment.
Think about that folks.  If you have been reading along to this point.  THE WWF and the UN have been in control of our Environment and all the funds raised for its protection since 1961/1986.  IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, they are to blame for the situation we find ourselves in.  They claim to be working with governments, scientists, financial institutions and ALL environmental agencies.  WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT?  Besides take over all of our natural parks, forests, mountains, valleys, wetlands, prairies and deserts??  They have taken NATURE away from all of us.  They have allowed Big BUSINESS to pollute all our waters.  They allow the pollutions of our skies.  If you want to be mad at anyone be made at them.  If you want to blame anyone – blame them.  I don’t think anyone has any true idea of how much money has been raised by these organizations and where that money has gone.

1986 was the 25th anniversary of WWF’s foundation, an event marked by a gathering in Assisi, Italy to which the organization’s International President Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, invited religious authorities representing Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism. These leaders produced The Assisi Declarations, theological statements showing the spiritual relationship between their followers and nature that triggered a growth in the engagement of those religions with conservation around the world.

So, here we see that they are also the initiators of the movement to unite all religions.

World Organization of Religions and Knowledge (WORK) or WORK charitable trust is an organization based in Rampur that advocates peaceful coexistence. [1] [2] [3] The organization was set up in 1987,
Coexist was founded in 2006 in the United Kingdom. The organization formed as a direct response to heightening tensions between religious and cultural groups across the world, as evidenced by a 2002 Gallup Poll of the Islamic world.
Since the 1986 meeting of the religious leaders and the WFF we have seen a great deal of effort that has to take a great deal of financing to accomplish.  Naturally the UN is behind this movement.  The same nations that started the UNITED NATIONS nations headed by the Scandinavian/Germanic Royals who conspired together… ALL for ONE,  THEY WANT TO RULE THE WORLD.  They are of the bloodline of the FALLEN who were the first to conspire together.

Stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature,

  • conserving the world’s biological diversity; (seriously? And aren’t they doing a bang up job?)
  • ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable; [and]
  • promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

In 1990, the Conservation Foundation was completely merged into WWF,after becoming an affiliate of WWF-US in 1985 when it became a distinct legal entity but with the same staff and board. The organization now known as the Conservation Foundation in the United States is the former Forest Foundation of DuPage County. In 1996, the organization obtained general consultative status from UNESCO.

Mission Statement. Conservation Foundation of America (CFA) was formed in order to preserve and protect our Natural Resources. CFA accepts and protects conservation easements on properties that are used for stream, wetland and habitat mitigation that is required by Federal and State agencies to compensate for the loss of these resources due to ..
SO, Not only has the UN taken over all of our National Parks, but now there is no organization exclusive to the USA that protects our streams, wetlands and habitat migration.  ALL funds go to Switzerland and ALL decisions about where those funds are spent are made by who KNOWS who and based on Who KNOWS what?  For the benefit of who KNOWS what or WHO?

Harvard University published a case study on WWF called “Negotiating Toward the Paris Accords: WWF & the Role of Forests in the 2015 Climate Agreement”:

DON’T LET THE THINK TANKERS DO YOUR THINKING FOR YOU!!  YOUR MIND IS JUST AS GOOD AS ANYONE ELSE’s!  USE IT!  IF YOUR MIND ISN’T FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD CALL ON GOD!!  HE WILL RESTORE YOUR MIND AND REVEAL ALL TRUTH TO YOU.

I COVERED ALL OF THE ABOVE TO HELP YOU TO SEE THAT THESE ELITE THINK TANKS AND NGOs ARE ALL PLAY THEIR PART IN THE MIND CONTROL OVER THE PEOPLE.  THEY SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO FEED YOU THE LIES AND PROPOGANDA THAT KEEP YOU UNDER THEIR POWER.

SO NOW THAT THE WWF IS ALSO FOCUSING ON OUR OCEANS, THEY WANT ANOTHER MASCOT.  And we return to the original article about the SQUID.

What is the emblematic species of the ocean that will serve to energize and unite us?

This species needs to represent a vast array of species, suffer from the same conservation threats as they do, thus protecting other species when it is protected, serve as indicator about the health of marine systems, and of course capture the public’s attention.

Guerra et al. believe that species is the Giant Squid, Architeuthis, and I agree.

Architeuthis meets the criteria of an emblematic species.  One that will hopefully unite us all on this June 8th, World Ocean Day, to strive for something greater, to finally alter our course, shed our history, and forge a new relationship with the ocean.

Octopuses can use their eight arms to grasp and even taste objects. They also can squirt dark ink to escape predators. (Jens Kalaene/European Pressphoto Agency)
Scientists have unlocked the genetic secrets of one of Earth’s underwater wonders: the octopus.Researchers on Wednesday unveiled the first complete octopus genome, a look at the creature’s DNA.“Octopuses and other cephalopods (like giant squid) are indeed remarkable creatures,” said University of Chicago biology graduate student Caroline Albertin, who helped lead the research, which was published in the journal Nature.“They can camouflage themselves with skin that can change its color and texture in the blink of an eye. They have eight . . . arms that they can use to grasp, manipulate and even, strangely enough, taste objects, as well as complex, camera-like eyes, and large, elaborate brains that allow them to be active predators.”Octopuses are carnivorous, with a hard beak, and can use venom while hunting. They also can regrow lost legs and squirt dark ink to escape predators. The first octopuses appeared about 270 million years ago. Today there are about 300 species.

NOW, you know that science has not been spending billions of dollars and as many hours to study these things just to see how they do it.   You should also recognize that many of the traits mentioned above are ones that DARPA has been wishing for years that they could install in our soldiers.  The DNA they have been extracting from these creatures will soon be employed in human soldiers that is if humans have not already been replaced by robots/androids.

By Lauren Davis

This logo adorns the NROL-39 satellite, which was launched by Atlas V rocket earlier this week. And NRO spokesperson Karen Furgerson doesn’t do much to make the logo seem less threatening. In an interview with Forbes, she said:

NROL-39 is represented by the octopus, a versatile, adaptable, and highly intelligent creature. Emblematically, enemies of the United States can be reached no matter where they choose to hide. ‘Nothing is beyond our reach’ defines this mission and the value it brings to our nation and the warfighters it supports, who serve valiantly all over the globe, protecting our nation.

So, malevolent octopus aside, what is the purpose of the mission? Here is the agenda according to the NRO press release:

NROL-39 will carry the Government Experimental Multi-Satellite (GEMSat) payload into orbit in a specially designed Aft Bulkhead Carrier, part of the Atlas V Centaur upper stage. The GEMSat payload contains 12 CubeSats, or “nanosatellites.”

GEMSat’s CubeSats will perform a variety of unique scientific experiments and demonstrate high-technology operational concepts. Sponsored by the NRO’s Mission Integration Directorate and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Launch Support Program, these CubeSats were developed by a number of laboratories, universities, and government entities across the United States.

 Two developed by Aerospace Corporation, called AeroCube-5 (AC-5), will demonstrate new technologies for pointing and tracking between two identical CubeSats. AC-5 will also record launch environment data such as pressure, temperature, and vibration; and will demonstrate a deorbit device.

 One developed by the Air Force Institute of Technology, ALICE, will test the performance of an advanced carbon nanotube array, which has great potential for smaller, lighter, and more energy-efficient satellite propulsion.

 Four developed by the United States Army — one called SNaP, two SMDC-One, and one TacSat-IV — will demonstrate nanosatellite communication capabilities.

And, while the CubeSats engage in their spy science, that octopus will be up there, watching.

This Advanced DARPA Study Has Perfected Mind Control In Squids

Squids are masters of camouflage, and can manipulate the colors emitted by their skin with a distributed central nervous system in order to blend in.

Now DARPA can manipulate the color changes too, by hacking into the squid’s central nervous system functions.

A study funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has perfected the art of using electrical signals to manipulate the color of a squid’s iridescent skin over the entire color spectrum.

The Marine Biological Laboratory in Massachusetts carried out the research.

It was a tough nut to crack, and the discovery is the result of twenty years of curiosity.

The nerve network in squid skin is immensely complex, and now the ability to manipulate that system offers new opportunities for active camouflage.

DARPA has a number of programs that set out to hack biology. This is one of them, seeking to exploit the squid’s advanced camouflage for military use.

The colors come from “iridiphores” on the squid’s skin. Now that the scientists know which nerves stimulate which iridiphores — not to mention how to electrically shock the nerve to project the right color — they’ll be able to advance the research on iridiphore manipulation.

The Mission “patch” of NROL-39 showing the logo: an octopus grabbing the earth’s globe, labeled “Nothing is beyond our reach”. (All Photos: ODNI/Public Domain)

A VERSION OF THIS STORY ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MUCKROCK.COM.

When the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) announced the upcoming launch of their NROL-39 mission back in December 2013, they didn’t get quite the response they had anticipated.

That might have had something to do with the mission logo being a gigantic octopus devouring the Earth.

The logo was widely lampooned as emblematic of the intelligence community’s tone-deafness to public sentiment. Incidentally, an octopus enveloping the planet also so happens to be the logo of SPECTRE,the international criminal syndicate that James Bond is always thwarting. So there’s that.

Privacy and security researcher Runa Sandvik wanted to know who approved this and why, so she filed a FOIA with the NRO for the development materials that went into the logo. A few months later, the NRO delivered.

The 15-page file clears up a lot of questions surrounding the logo approval process—rather than simply being somebody’s bad idea that just didn’t get squashed, it turns out the octopus had made it across many, many desks before that final OK.

As for the question of “why a giant octopus,” the NRO offers up these two clunky paragraphs, written with all the verve of a ninth-grader who only made it two-thirds of the way through the book.

If that imagery comes off as somewhat forced, there’s a reason for that – an article for what appeared to be the ODNI’s internal magazine reveals the “secret origin” of the octopus, which has less to do with an admiration of mollusca and more with a faulty component called an “octopus harness.”

That article draws from a speech made by the Mission Manager—a full transcription of his remarks are included in the file, and they expand upon NRO’s capabilities with a charming obliviousness to just how terrifying all this sounds.

So, we now have have some context as to how the octopus was selected, as well as the type of people doing the selecting. But one questions remains – did anybody, at any point, make any mention this might not be a good idea?

The only reservation expressed in the file is right there on the first page, written in blue marker—“A little sinister!!”

You think? Also note that right above is the final “Ok” that approved the logo, so they must draw the line at three exclamation marks. NROL-39 just made the cut.

New US spy satellite features world-devouring octopus

President Obama is out to put the public’s mind at ease about new revelations on intelligence-gathering, but the Office for the Director of National Intelligence can’t quite seem to get with the program of calming everyone down.

Over the weekend, the ODNI was pumping up the launch of a new surveillance satellite launched by the National Reconnaissance Office. The satellite was launched late Thursday night, and ODNI’s Twitter feed posted photos and video of the launch over the following days.

The Story Behind the Comically Villainous Octopus Logo of U.S. Spy Agency - Atlas Obscura

Unmistakable was the new NRO logo that goes with this satellite:Nothing is Beyond Our Reach,” it says, featuring an octopus with its arms wrapped around the globe.

It’s the kind of picture that you might think up if you were devising an emblem for a villain in a superhero movie.

“NROL-39 is represented by the octopus, a versatile, adaptable, and highly intelligent creature,” an NRO spokeswoman told Forbes on Friday before launch. “Emblematically, enemies of the United States can be reached no matter where they choose to hide.”

While the NRO might be thinking that the octopus represents versatility and intelligence, the mysterious creature has often been used as a symbol for a scary, evil kind of intelligence in popular culture. In the James Bond movie series, the organization long serving as Bond’s archenemy was named SPECTRE, had a black octopus logo, and ran an underwater black market called The Octopus. In a later Bond movie video game, SPECTRE simply changed its name to OCTOPUS.

In any case, emphasizing that “nothing is beyond our reach” is not necessarily the image the government may want to be sending out right now, with many in Congress considering reeling in data-gathering. The octopus is, at best, an untimely selection. You may want to downplay the massive spying dragnet thing right now,” tweeted privacy activist Chris Soghoian once it was published Friday. “This logo isn’t helping.”

Who Owns What on Television?

All those hundreds of TV channels may lead you that there’s a true diversity and variety in today’s television ... but you’d be wrong. A handful of large companies control what you see, hear, and read every day.

Let’s take a look at who owns what on television – here are the TV channels owned by 6 of the largest companies in media, as depicted by their logos:

General Electric

General Electric is a true behemoth: the conglomerate is the world’s third largest company with market capitalization of nearly $370 billion and annual revenue of $173 billion (2007). The company produces practically everything – from aircraft engine to locomotives to medical devices.

GE’s media holding includes television networks NBC and Telemundo, 27 television stations in the United States and many cable TV networks, including the History Channel, A&E, and Sci Fi Channel. It also owns the popular web-based TV website Hulu.

Update 7/8/08: A&E is co-owned by The Hearst Corporation and ABC, which in turn is owned by Disney.

Time Warner

Time Warner is the world’s largest media and entertainment company – it owns major operations in film, TV, print, Internet, and telecommunications. Time Warner has an annual revenue of $50.5 billion (2008) – the equivalent of the entire GDP of Luxembourg.

Like cartoons? Time Warner’s got you covered with Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Classic movies? Check (Turner Classic Movies). And who can forget CNN and Headline News? Both are Time Warner properties. (Note: CW is co-owned by Time Warner and CBS).

The Walt Disney Company

You may associate it with amusement parks, but The Walt Disney Company has grown to be one of the world’s largest media and entertainment corporation since its founding as an animation studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney in 1923.

The Walt Disney Company owns the ABC television network, with more 200 affiliated stations reaching nearly 100% of all U.S. television market, as well as dozens of niche cable networks. True to its cartoon animation origin, Disney captures its viewers early – it counts millions of young children as its audience with kids channels like the Disney Channel.

News Corporation

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation is a behemoth: it is the largest media company in the world by market capitalization ($38 billion). For most people, the conservative news channel Fox comes foremost to mind when asked what they think of Murdoch’s media empire – but the company’s holding is far larger: it includes Asia’s Star TV Network, the National Geographic Channel and even the iconic TV Guide network.

Don’t watch TV? Even if you prefer to browse the Internet, most likely you’ve visited News Corp’s property, which include Hulu (owned in partnership with GE through its subsidiary NBC Universal) and the social networking giant MySpace.

CBS

CBS (which used to stand for the Columbia Broadcasting System) is not sometimes called the Tiffany Network for nothing: the company is known for its high programming quality. It is currently the most watched television network in the United States, and reached more than 103 million homes in the country.

Both CBS and Viacom (see below) are owned by multi-billionaire Sumner “content is king” Redstone, through his holding company National Amusements.

Viacom

Viacom stands for “Video and Audio Communication” – and true to that name, the company owns a large number of cable and satellite television networks (the company was split from CBS Corporation in 2005, though both have the same majority owner).
