The appearance of dramatic lunar eclipses aligned with Jewish holidays is drawing global attention and renewed discussion of their potential biblical significance.

Four major eclipses—three lunar and one solar—occurring between 2025 and 2026 are coinciding with key Jewish festivals and escalating tension in the Middle East, prompting some prophetic scholars to view these celestial signs as messages connected to Israel’s fate, CBN reported.

The celestial phenomenon began with a total lunar eclipse on March 14, 2025, commonly referred to as a “blood moon.” This event was visible across much of the Americas, Europe, and parts of Africa. Notably, it occurred on the Jewish holiday of Purim, commemorating the Jewish people’s escape from a Persian plot, as recorded in the biblical Book of Esther.

This blood moon marked the start of a series known in prophetic circles as a tetrad—a grouping of four significant eclipses. This particular tetrad will span until August 2026, comprising three total lunar eclipses followed by a total solar eclipse. Spiritual observers highlight the alignment of these heavenly events with traditional Jewish festivals, a pattern that has historically preceded major developments in Israel’s history.

According to historical records, similar blood moon tetrads took place in 1493–1494, 1949–1950, and 1967–1968. These periods correspond to major turning points for the Jewish people: the expulsion from Spain and the discovery of America, which provided eventual refuge; the founding of modern Israel; and the Six-Day War, during which Israel reestablished control over Jerusalem.

“God is sending us a signal through the sun, the moon, and the stars,” Hagee said, emphasizing that biblical evidence supports the belief that celestial bodies are under divine control. He believes these signs correspond to both tragedy and triumph in Jewish history, as was the case following the Holocaust and the rebirth of the Israeli state in 1948.

A second blood moon is scheduled for September 7, 2025, roughly two weeks before the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah. This eclipse will be visible from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, lasting for 82 minutes. Its proximity to sacred observances is seen by prophetic scholars as a further indication of divine timing.

Eclipses Coincide With Middle Eastern Turmoil

The timing of these eclipses has added to speculation due to recent geopolitical events, particularly involving Israel. In June 2025, Israel launched an expansive military operation against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, citing an urgent security threat. The third eclipse in the series will happen on March 3, 2026, once again aligning with Purim. It will be a visible spectacle for viewers across Asia and parts of North America, lasting nearly six hours. Observers note the symbolic connection of Purim to the Persian Empire—modern-day Iran—underscoring the perceived relevance of the current geopolitical landscape.

Tensions in the Middle East remain high following the October 7 massacre in Israel. Since then, hostilities with Hamas persist in Gaza, Hezbollah’s influence in Lebanon has waned, and instability in Syria has led to a change in regime. At the same time, global antisemitism has grown, adding to a sense of urgency among watchers of biblical prophecy.

Final Eclipse and Future Predictions

Following the trilogy of lunar eclipses, a total solar eclipse is expected in August 2026. This solar event will pass over parts of Europe and Russia. In ancient Jewish teachings, such solar events are seen as warnings primarily for nations that follow a solar calendar, typically associated with Gentile peoples, according to interpretations of the Talmud.

“When the moon is in eclipse, it is a bad omen for Israel,” says a teaching from the Talmud, often quoted in Messianic prophecy discussions. Israel’s use of a lunar calendar is considered significant in interpreting these astronomical signs. Therefore, blood moons carry particular weight in Jewish eschatology and prophecy narratives.

This series of eclipses also bears similarities to the previous tetrad in 2014–2015. That period coincided with the rise of ISIS, increased conflict between Israel and Hamas, and mounting concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions following the U.S.-led nuclear deal. These overlapping timelines continue to draw attention from those watching prophecy unfold alongside current events.

Looking Toward 2032–2033 and Beyond

Looking further ahead, another blood moon tetrad is expected in 2032–2033, falling exactly 2,000 years after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, according to Christian tradition. This future tetrad will again align with Jewish holidays—Passover and Sukkot—and feature a total solar eclipse in the center of the sequence in March 2033.

For believers who closely watch biblical signs, this future tetrad holds particular importance. They view it as potentially marking the culmination of unfolding prophetic timelines. The overlapping of Jewish feasts, blood moons, and geopolitical strife continues to fuel interpretation and debate.

Still, others advocate a more cautious approach in interpreting celestial events. Biblical texts such as Joel 2:31 and Luke 21:25-28 do mention dramatic signs in the heavens associated with the end times. However, interpretations vary widely among denominations and scholars.

The purpose of this study is to highlight the 3 Purim Lunar Eclipses of 2024-2025-2026, but specifically the Blood Moon Triad of 2025-2026. As the Purim Prelude started in 2024, it served as a countdown of sorts of how Israel would be at war with Iran. It would echo the War in Ancient Persia between Esther and Haman. And then the world witnessed the lighting strike that Israel inflicted against Iran in the Summer of 2025.The Spirit of Esther and the Spirit of Haman will contend once again sometime in the Tribulation Period. One is convinced it will culminate in the Gog-Magog War that is led by Russian, Iran and Turkey. Let us consider the 3 Blood Moons of 2025-2026. The first and the last occur on the Feast of Purim. Interestingly, the middle Blood Moon of September 7, 2025 occurred over Jerusalem. It was just 1 of 2 Blood Moons in 2025.

The 3rd Blood Moon that will make-up the Triad occurs in 2026. Now as to what they would or could possibly mean or signify prophetically for Israel, the World and the Church in the End Times? Well, there are 3 Purim Blood Moons currently, as one has already occurred in 2024. However, that Lunar Eclipse was not a Blood Moon. So, what one would or could suggest is that the 3 Purim Blood Moons are a ‘Countdown’ perhaps. It is how the Book of Esther is apparently repeating itself presently and during the 7-Year Tribulation Period. Here are the dates for the 3 Purim Blood Moons.

One surmises that it is really about a ‘Retelling’ of how the Spirit of the Prince of Persia or Iran has risen in these Last Days and will confront the Jews during the Tribulation Period in the Gog-Magog War. It is and will be about a ‘Plot’ or Conspiracy to Genocide the Jews. So, the AntiChrist will stop the Daily Sacrifices at the 3rd Temple on the 1260th Day. This will all correspond to the midpoint time marker in 2029 based on one’s timeline. Now, the Blood Moons are said, by the Jewish Talmud to pertain to Bad Omens concerning Israel. And that has been the case. That is what Scorpio represents, ‘The Enemy’. And sure enough, that translated to how HAMAS struck a blow with the Stinger that was deadly against Israel. Why so much War and Contention with tiny Israel? It is spiritual, it is about the Divine Birthright. Since the U.N. Partition Plan of 1947, it has been the Palestinians that have rejected the original 2 State Solution. Since 1948, the constant War against Israel has been a sad State of Affairs in how Palestinians had lost Face and Favor with most of the World, until October 7, 2023.Now the tables have turned and it is Israel that has lost Face with the world. But this is going according to plan, per the Luciferian Letters of Albert Pike. The 3rd World War would be as a direct result of the fatigue of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, etc. This was because the Palestinians chose a Path of Terrorism in an excuse to have a ‘State of their own’. That Notion has all been turned around since the October 7, 2023 HAMAS Attack on Israel. The whole world is now on the side of the Terrorists.

Historically, since 1947, in every political effort to come to a Nexus of relinquishing ‘Land for Peace’, the Palestinians have gone back on their word and have continued to attack Israel’s Civilian Population, indiscriminately. Israel gave back the Sinai Peninsula. It gave back Gaza. And it has allowed the West Bank to be essentially Autonomous. Yet, the Deal was, ‘No more Violence’. No more barrage of Rocket Attacks. No more Border Infiltration. No more murdering and stabbings and killing of Israelis, etc. Has it worked?

This has not stopped the Palestinians from attacking Israel. And the point is that it will not stop, no matter how much Promised Land the Jews ‘Give Back’. The point is that the Palestinians do not want a Jewish State, side-by-side in ‘Peace and Security’ with a Palestinian one. What is occurring Geo-Politically in Israel against the Palestinians is essentially the reflection of the Eternal Struggle that is presently taking place on Earth, as it is in Heaven.

That is seen in the wars between the Jews and the Palestinians. It is emblematic of the claim to the Birthright, the Promised Land, the Inheritance and Blessings of YHVH. No small matter. It is essentially, ‘Winner Takes All’. This Prophetic Echo of a War and the Struggle, i.e., Jihad is seen in Genesis 3:15 where the ‘War of the Seeds’ is declared by YHVH. It is between the Seed of the Woman, Jesus and the Seed of the Serpent, Lucifer. The Seed of Lucifer will eventually be also a Man, the coming AntiChrist. But sadly, this Man of Sin will be the one Israel will cling to for their national Deliverance from the coming crucible and bloodshed.

But Israel’s False Messiah will only promise a temporary relief as Israel will be double-crossed and betrayed by this False Messiah Savior. As to the possible Rapture Timing then pertaining to the End Times and the Church? One just has to narrow-down the Year more so. But in one’s estimation, the Anna Code is a significant clue pertaining to the Rapture Year. It is pegged also to one’s 32 AD Crucifixion Year calculation. Nonetheless, below are the Purim Eclipse charts. The chart shows the timeline, focused on the Years 2025-26. So, perhaps the Rapture Year approaches.

Persian Wars
This is predicated on the 8th-Year Anniversary Year of the Revelation 12 Sign in 2025. Also, the September 7, 2005 Blood Moon, which by some estimation is considered the First Fruit of the New Oil (Essene), is directly in-between what one has called the Israeli Blood Moons of the Purim-Persian Wars. Taking a Pre-Tribulation Interpretation, it would follow that the next few years would then most likely be the time when the Tribulation Period could begin. Here are some Observations.

Note that the Triad of Blood Moons corresponds to this start of the Time-Frame of 2025-26. It could possibly confirm, Astronomically the start of Daniel’s 70th Week. Note also that the 3 Blood Moons Triad of 2025-26, which are Bad Omens for the Jews, has its Beginning and End Blood Moon Eclipse occurring precisely on the Feast of Purim. Then the Solar Eclipse that corresponds to the middle Blood Moon of the Triad occurred on Rosh HaShanah, September 22, 2025. Coincidence? No.

This Purim Blood Moon Triad of 2025-26 had a Prelude, also on a Purim Feast. It was that in 2024, the Lunar Eclipse subsequently occurred the day after, but was not technically on Purim, in one’s Interpretation. For 2024, Purim started on the Evening of March 23 and ended on the Evening of March 24. A Penumbral Lunar Eclipse occurred on the 25th, so I was not a ‘Blood Moon’ by definition.

Nonetheless, the Purim connection, Astronomically is signaling, that Iran and the accompanying Muslims States and Para-Military Factions will seek to pull-off what Haman could not accomplish, in destroying the Jews during the Day of Esther that became Purim. However, true to the Prophetic Pattern, the Jews will turn the tables on their Muslim Enemies when that happens, and come on top, victorious, etc.

So, based on the Astronomically Alignment of the 2025-26 Purim Triad of Blood Moon Omens, since the Hamas War of 2023 has been perhaps the prelude to the war with Inner-Ring of Muslim Para-Military Factions. It is the ‘Conspiracy’ that the Psalm 83 War alludes to. But one surmises that it will come about as Israel strikes Damascus to totally obliterate it, as described in Isaiah 17. They will use their Nuclear Samson Option as Israel is out-numbered. Israel’s Militarily is exhausting its might due to its 7-Front Wars.

This is what has happened since October 7, 2023. One conjectures that this could be the coming scenario that will lead to the advent of a ‘Savior’ that the Jews desperately seek and will accept at all costs. But this Savior will only be a Geo-Political Savior that will bring them temporary Political and Social Peace, not Spiritual Peace. It is Spiritual Peace that Israel really needs and only their true Savior and Messiah, Jesus can give that to them.

  “Blood Moon,” aka Hunter Moon is bright enough to hunt by, a phenomenon that occurs during a total eclipse of the moon when the moon is lit by sunlight reaching it through the earth’s atmosphere, giving it a ruddy bloodlike appearance. It is an event that is rare in itself and even rarer when several occur in succession.

Joel 2:31  “The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.”

Revelation 6:12 “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red.” 

Mathew 24:29  “Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken,” 

The above verses refer to the end times so many have come to associate the “Blood Moon” with the end times.

April 15, 2014 and October 8, 2014 / April 4th and September 28th, 2015 – four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses between them, each separated by the other by six full moons or six lunar months, took place. 

In fact, tetrads such as this are scheduled to occur 8 times during the 21st century the 2014/2015 one is unique in that it was linked with the Jewish holidays of Passover and Tabernacles (Sukkot). The Blood Moons occurring in April of 2014 and 2015 aligned with the Passover, and the eclipses for September 2014 and 2015, with the feast of Tabernacles. Ironically, only one of the four eclipses was visible from Israel, and only the tail end of the one on September 28th, 2015, for a short while before sunrise.

Looking back, the previous three such tetrads occurred around events that were very meaningful for the Jewish people. Thus, a Blood Moon tetrad that occurred between 1493 and 1494, on Passover and Sukkot, immediately followed the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. The next Blood Moon tetrad occurred between 1949 and 1950. Of course, in 1948 the Jewish state was founded followed by the war for independence. And a tetrad occurred between 1967 and 1968 and it was in June of 1967 that Israel, during the “Six Day War” reclaimed the entire city of Jerusalem including the Temple site.

 The four Blood Moons of 1493 and 1494, was “God’s announcement to the world that the mantle of prosperity had been placed on the shoulders of the infant nation that would become the United States’ since it became a refuge for the Jewish people.” 

The tetrad Blood Moons of 1949 and 1950 occurred on the Hebrew holidays of Passover and Tabernacles, just after Israel was declared a nation.

When the four Blood Moons next occurred in 1967 and 1968, it was at the time of the Six Day War which resulted in the unification of Jerusalem as the compete capital of the Jewish state for the first time in 2,000 years. A total lunar eclipse will transform the moon into a dramatic “Blood Moon,” casting an eerie crimson glow across the skies above Jerusalem and throughout the Jewish state. For observers in Israel, this astronomical event holds particular significance, as Jewish tradition has long interpreted lunar eclipses as divine messages explicitly connected to the Jewish people and their destiny. With biblical prophecies speaking of the Moon turning to blood before “the great and terrible day of the Lord,” this eclipse offers both a spectacular natural display and a moment of profound spiritual contemplation for those who see in the heavens the unfolding of ancient promises.

On Sunday night, stargazers across Asia, parts of Europe, Australia, and Africa witnessed one of nature’s most captivating celestial phenomena: a total lunar eclipse, commonly known as a “Blood Moon.” This astronomical event occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in a straight line, with Earth positioned between the Sun and Moon, casting its shadow across the lunar surface.

During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon passes through Earth’s shadow, which consists of two parts: the penumbra (partial shadow) and the umbra (complete shadow). As the Moon enters Earth’s umbra, it doesn’t disappear entirely but instead takes on a dramatic reddish hue, earning it the moniker “Blood Moon.”

The striking red coloration results from Earth’s atmosphere acting as a natural filter and lens. As Ryan Milligan, an astrophysicist at Queen’s University Belfast, explains, the Moon appears red because “the only sunlight reaching it is reflected and scattered through the Earth’s atmosphere.” Blue wavelengths of light, being shorter than red ones, are more easily dispersed as they travel through Earth’s atmosphere, leaving the longer red wavelengths to reach the Moon and reflect to Earth.

This particular total lunar eclipse will last from 17:30 GMT to 18:52 GMT, making it visible across a significant portion of the globe. People in Asia, including India and China, will experience the best viewing conditions for the total eclipse. The phenomenon will also be visible on the eastern edge of Africa and in western Australia.

For observers in Israel, the eclipse timeline unfolds as follows:

• 6:28 p.m.: Partial eclipse begins (though the Moon rises at 6:51 p.m. in Israel)
• 8:30 p.m. – 9:52 p.m.: Total eclipse phase, with the Moon appearing deep red
• 9:12 p.m.: Eclipse reaches its peak
• 11:55 p.m.: Eclipse concludes entirely

European and African observers will catch a brief glimpse of the partial eclipse during moonrise in the early evening, while the Americas missed this celestial event entirely.

Unlike solar eclipses, which require special protective eyewear and occur along narrow paths on Earth’s surface, lunar eclipses are safe to observe with the naked eye and visible from anywhere on the night side of Earth where the Moon is above the horizon. The only requirement is clear weather and an unobstructed view of the Moon.

In Jewish tradition, astronomical phenomena carry deep spiritual significance, often interpreted as divine messages or omens. The Talmud, the central text of Jewish oral law and theology, explicitly addresses eclipses in several passages, providing a framework for understanding their meaning within Jewish cosmology.

According to the Talmud (Sukkot 29a), lunar eclipses are traditionally viewed as omens specifically related to Israel, as the Moon spiritually represents the Jewish people. This connection stems from the Jewish calendar system, which is based on lunar cycles, in contrast to solar-based calendars used by many other nations. The Talmudic interpretation suggests that if a lunar eclipse occurs in the eastern hemisphere of the sky, it serves as an omen for eastern nations. In contrast, Western eclipses are considered to affect Western nations.

However, the Talmud provides an essential disclaimer to these ominous interpretations, stating: “When Israel does the will of the place (God), they have nothing to fear from all of this.” This teaching references the Prophet Jeremiah, who declared: “Thus said Hashem: Do not learn to go the way of the nations, And do not be dismayed by portents in the sky; Let the nations be dismayed by them!” (Jeremiah 10:2)

The Talmud (Hulin 60b) addresses a fascinating aspect of solar and lunar eclipses through its interpretation of the biblical creation account. The text examines the apparent contradiction in Genesis 1:16, which initially describes the Sun and Moon as “two great lights” but then distinguishes them as the “greater light” (the Sun) and the “lesser light” (the Moon).

According to Talmudic teaching, God created the Sun and Moon as equals in size and intensity. However, the Moon complained, saying, “Two kings cannot share one crown.” In response, God diminished the Moon’s intensity while compensating it by having Israel set their calendar according to lunar cycles. This narrative explains why eclipses can occur at all – the Sun and Moon appear the same size from Earth due to a remarkable cosmic coincidence where the Sun is approximately 400 times farther away but also 400 times larger than the Moon. Scientists believe that the Earth is the only planet yet discovered that experiences eclipses, emphasizing their significance.

Jewish mystical tradition interprets the Moon’s diminishment as temporary, prophesying that at the end of days, the Sun and Moon will be restored to equal size and intensity. This restoration is connected to messianic prophecies found throughout Hebrew scripture.

The Prophet Joel provides one of the most significant biblical references to blood moons in the context of the end times: “Before the great and terrible day of Hashem comes, I will set portents in the sky and on earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke; The sun shall turn into darkness And the moon into blood” (Joel 3:3-5). This prophecy directly links lunar eclipses to the coming of the Messiah and the final redemption.

Rabbi Yosef Berger of King David’s Tomb in Jerusalem interprets lunar eclipses as divine emphasis on worldly confusion, drawing parallels between astronomical phenomena and contemporary social issues. He suggests that just as people struggle to distinguish fundamental differences in the natural world, the eclipse symbolizes broader spiritual confusion. He noted that by hiding the moon, “God is emphasizing the confusion in the world.”

“The sun represents the masculine and the moon represents the feminine,” Rabbi Berger said.”A person who cannot tell the difference between a man and a woman is a person who cannot tell the difference between the sun and the moon.”

Modern Jewish scholars continue to find relevance in these ancient teachings. Rabbi Mordechai Genuth discussed the meaning of eclipses in Jewish tradition, explaining that under normal circumstances, lunar eclipses are considered a bad omen for Israel. This is based on a section in the Talmud (Sukkot 29a) that specifies that lunar eclipses are a bad omen for Israel since the moon spiritually represents Israel. If the lunar eclipse takes place in the east side of the heavens, then it is a bad omen for all the nations in the east, and similarly, if it occurs in the western hemisphere of the sky, it is a bad sign for all the nations in the west.

“In the time of the Talmud, only Israel set the calendar according to the moon,” Rabbi Genuth said. “Setting the calendar according to the sun was the practice of the idolaters, like Rome which named the solar months and days after pagan gods. Today, the Muslims set their calendar according to the moon, even more than the Jews, in a manner that leads their calendar to be imbalanced. So a lunar eclipse is closely connected to the Muslims and, in this case, is a warning for the Arabs.”

The Hebrew Bible records several instances where solar and celestial events accompanied significant spiritual moments. The three-day Plague of Darkness in Egypt demonstrated divine control over solar phenomena, while prophets like Isaiah and Amos predicted that astronomical events would herald the end times. Historical records confirm that a solar eclipse occurred over the Middle East in 702 BCE, during the reign of King Hezekiah, as prophesied by Isaiah, with NASA calculations verifying more than 60% solar obscuration over Israel.

Despite traditional interpretations of lunar eclipses as potentially ominous signs, Jewish teaching emphasizes that divine protection supersedes astronomical omens for those who follow God’s will. What Is a Tetrad?

Every so often, there are four total lunar eclipses in a row. At timeanddate.com, we also use the term “super tetrad” for a rare sequence of four consecutive total lunar eclipses plus four total or annular solar eclipses.

Every six months or so, there is an eclipse season. Generally speaking, each season contains a pair of eclipses: a lunar eclipse at Full Moon, and a solar eclipse at New Moon.

The lunar eclipse can be total, partial, or penumbral; the solar eclipse can be total, annular, hybrid, or partial. The nature of each eclipse depends on the alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun, as well as the distances between them.

Tetrads: 4 Total Lunar Eclipses

A tetrad is a phenomenon where four consecutive eclipse seasons each contain a total lunar eclipse. In other words, it is four “Blood Moons” in a row, about six months apart. The term comes from the Greek word tetras, which means a group of four.

Tetrads are not particularly rare, although they come in interesting cycles of around 600 years. For about 300 years, there are no tetrads at all. This is followed by a period of roughly 300 years where a tetrad occurs every 15 years or so.

At the moment, we are about halfway through the second half of this cycle. The last tetrad took place in 2014-2015; the next will happen in 2032-2033.

There was almost a tetrad in 2021-2022, with total lunar eclipses on May 26, 2021, May 16, 2022, and November 8, 2022, and a big partial lunar eclipse on November 19, 2021. The magnitude of the partial eclipse was 0.97—although this was a fraction short of being total, it looked very similar to a total eclipse, and the Moon acquired a noticeably reddish tint.

“Super Tetrads”: 4 Total Lunar + 4 Total/Annular Solar Eclipses

At timeanddate.com, we have given the name “super tetrad” to another phenomenon: four consecutive eclipse seasons that each contain a total lunar eclipse plus a total or annular solar eclipse.

In other words, it is a series of eight full eclipses in a row—no partials or penumbrals—over a period of about 18 months.

A “super tetrad” is extremely rare. So far, in our data, we have only found two: 2043-2044, and 3707-3708. The dates for the 2043-2044 occurrence are as follows.

• March 25, 2043: Total lunar eclipse
• April 9, 2043: Total solar eclipse

• September 19, 2043: Total lunar eclipse
• October 3, 2043: Annular solar eclipse

• February 28, 2044: Annular solar eclipse
• March 13, 2044: Total lunar eclipse

• August 23, 2044: Total solar eclipse
• September 7, 2044: Total lunar eclipse

Three Small Solar Eclipses, and a Big One

The first three solar eclipses in the 2043-2044 “super tetrad” are small: the Moon’s dark umbral or antumbral shadow only just grazes Earth. (In technical language, the 2043 solar eclipses are called non-central eclipses, because the center of the Moon’s shadow misses Earth. The February 2044 solar eclipse is a central eclipse with no southern limit: although the center of the Moon’s shadow strikes Earth, part of the antumbra misses Earth.)

The final solar eclipse in the sequence is a much bigger event: totality will be visible along a path that begins in Greenland, crosses northern and western Canada, and ends around sunset in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Where to see the August 2044 total solar eclipse

Although the date of the eclipse based on UTC time is August 23, 2044, totality will take place on the evening of August 22, local time. There are two large cities on the path of totality: Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

Lunar Tetrads, 1900–2299

Blood Moon Tetrads Before 1900

A tetrad is a sequence of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, each about six months apart, often called “blood moons” because the Moon turns reddish during totality TimeAndDate. Over the long term, tetrads occur in cycles of roughly 600 years, with about 300 years of no tetrads followed by a period of roughly 300 years when they happen every 15 years or so TimeAndDate.

Tetrads in the 16th–18th Centuries

Historical and astronomical records show that no tetrads occurred between 1582 and 1908 EclipseWise. This means that before 1900, the last complete tetrad series ended in 1908 (1909–1910) NASA Eclipse Web Site. Therefore, there were no tetrads in the 16th, 17th, or 18th centuries.

Earliest Known Tetrads

The first tetrads in the modern era began in the late 19th century:

Before 1900, the closest tetrad-like sequences would have been in earlier centuries, but they are not well-documented in modern catalogs. The long gap between tetrads (about 565 years) means that the last tetrad before 1900 was likely in the 16th century, but exact dates are not confirmed in the provided sources.
