Just what do you think they were telling us at the SUPER BOWL, when they showed children in cages.  Illumined CAGES.  The illuminati were declaring that OUR CHILDREN belong to them and they will dispense with them as they will.  They will hold them in cages with NO ONE to rescue them.

They have plans for our children.  They have already begun to put them into action. Some of the things you will see in the post will be hard for you to believe or except, but unfortunately they are all true.  These are all well established facts and there should be enough evidence within this post to convince you.

The race for the governor of Virginia was expected to be a walk in the park for Terry McAuliffe. After all, “China” Joe Biden supposedly “won” Virginia by over ten points during the last presidential contest. Plus McAuliffe had already been governor once, and he was running against a Republican unknown by the name of Glenn Youngkin. Yet the race for this governorship, far from being a shoe-in, turned into one of the most amazing turnabouts in recent electoral politics, for the simple reason that voters on both The Left and The Right finally found common ground: their children!

Terry McAuliffe had the audacity to declare that parents should not be involved in the education of their own children because he was tired of parents interfering in the programming and indoctrination of their (the government’s) youth. Unfortunately for McAuliffe, the concept that the government actually OWNS the children who are unlucky enough to have to go to government run public schools did not sit well with Virginia’s voters, who dumped McAuliffe out on his “woke” posterior, despite having icons such as Barack Obama, Kamala Harris and “China” Joe Biden putting in personal appearances for him in an attempt to label this parental uprising as a racist reaction to the teaching of Critical Race Theory.

Possibly to inadvertently seal his fate, McAuliffe had actually lied by publicly stating that CRT was not being taught in Virginia schools, despite the fact that the Virginia Department of Education had made specific references to this very subject matter as far back as 2015!

Naturally, the “patriarchal” concepts that children actually belong to the parents who birthed and raised them, rather than being pawns of the Federal Government and the teacher’s unions to be used as fodder for social activists movements like Antifa and BLM gained traction with a huge swath of parents across the entire political spectrum. To put it mildly, the idea that government (public) schools have some sort of “right” to teach racism while exposing children to blatant pornography from books so lewd that school boards refused to listen to them being read in public became a burning issue, catching brain dead “woke” “progressive” advocates entirely unexpected and unawares.

A preview, of sorts, of the kind of destruction being imposed upon our children was made available to parents by the imposition of the infamous “Common Core” curriculum pushed by Bill Gates earlier in this past decade. Anyone familiar with the active principles of “Common Core” can easily recognize that it is actually designed to stunt all learning and growth. In fact, it is designed to kill the pleasure of learning for the average child.

“Common Core” destroys a child’s ability to read and comprehend what they are reading; it destroys a child’s ability to understand even basic mathematics thru the construction of agonizingly complex and utterly useless mental exercises; it perverts and corrupts history into a series of two dimensional cartoons that completely bypass the founding principles of this country; and it emphasizes “socialization” as the pinnacle purpose of edukashun, rather than relegating it to the afterthought it should be.

Critical Race Theory, as well as LGBTQ (xyz) sexualization and “grooming” of our children, along with “Drag Queen Story Hour” (whereby adult males dress as outlandish and garish females and somehow insist this is just a natural “variation” in fashion) is another avenue of subversion recently introduced Into our schools to evaporate the moral boundaries between right and wrong, and erase parental control of their offspring.

Watching the stomach-churning spectacle of mothers and fathers actually encouraging their male children to emulate drag queens has to be the height of parental malpractice. But not to worry — just down the road on this same agenda is the quest to normalize pedophilia by labeling its’ “sufferers” as simply “MAPs” — Minor Attracted People. You can bet that there is already a high powered movement under way in the corridors of psychiatry to “normalize” pedophilia, in order to remove the predatory onus from the practitioners of this sexual vampirism, as their dogmatic adherents continue to push their “progressive” “woke” agenda.

Of course, throughout our Nation as well as Virginia, the tenets of CRT (Critical Race Theory) continue to be spoon-fed into the brains of innocent young children, making them aware and “woke” that a person’s skin color determines their value as well as determining whether they fall into the category of oppressor or victim for the rest of their lives. Those pushing this repugnant message take pains to make sure there is no “course” entitled CRT so they can claim it is not being taught in schools. However, they get around this obstacle by having the entire curricula of the school focused thru the lens of CRT, so that this sick world view permeates reading, history, sociology, and even mathematics!

The drive to usurp parental rights, and even parental knowledge, continues to move forward at warp speed in liberal bastions of states like California. A new law was recently passed to allow young children to get an abortion without their parent’s knowledge or permission; the same release from parental authority is now being offered so that children can get COVID shots and boosters without parental consent!

Unfortunately, many parents may think that it is only the public schools that are a threat to their children’s health and welfare. The truth is that today’s children are being attacked on every level, from every direction, from a cadre of twisted societal engineers who view your child as their tool to implement their New World Order.

Today’s children are literally BOMBARDED by constant, covert exposure to ideas and emotions that are actually designed to sicken, depress, and subvert them into racially and sexually “questioning” zombies who have no idea of who they are, what things are truly of value, and where they are headed in their lives as sentient human beings.

To illustrate this multi-dimensional assault on our children, the BBC recently ran a major story about YouTube cartoon videos designed to appeal to a young demographic, from ages 3-12, which seem to feature well-known cartoon figures such as Peppa Pig, Sponge Bob Square Pants, The Cookie Monster, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Elsa from Frozen. However, these are NOT really the aforementioned well-known cartoon characters; rather they are caricatures derived from them. They are designed to bypass superficial parental scans while their harm and evil is inflicted on the young viewers’ minds.

Many of these videos are designed to terrify, frighten or disgust young children by presenting them with ideas and situations far removed from the domain of the real cartoon characters. For instance, the character that looks like Peppa Pig visits a dentist, where she is painfully tortured in a dental chair. Just check the titles to get a glimpse of what they are really injecting into children’s minds: “Frozen Elsa’s Huge Snot.” “Naked Hulk Loses His Pants.” Or “Bloody Elsa’s Arm is broken by SpiderMan.”

Curiously, the people who create these videos, and the corporations behind them, refuse to address any inquiries into their purpose, nor are they willing to discuss or describe why they are inflicting stressful, painful and sexually twisted imagery and story lines on young viewers who are exposed to them. It’s almost as if they had some sort of AGENDA… to destroy, twist, pervert and subvert an entire generation’s sense of security, trust and well-being.

The reason it “seems” this way, is because that is EXACTLY what is happening—these silent, secret video producers are purposely creating Satanic rip-offs using easily recognized approximations of famous cartoon characters in order to lure their youthful viewers into imaginary scenarios that produce extreme fear, worry, stress, anxiety, violence and sexual perversity, all the better to to let their poison fester in the minds of their young viewers. This is part and parcel of their evil “programming” of our youth… done right under the noses of the most loving parents!

Today, the literal war for the hearts and minds of young children is moving full steam ahead on various fronts, and parents must become aware of the massive forces being employed to capture and permanently socially “engineer” the values, dreams, goals and ambitions of the youngest members of our Nation and the rest of the world. The “social engineering” that is currently directed against (not simply towards) your children is frightening and very worrisome when one understands that corruption, perversion, brainwashing and the abolition of family values lie at the heart of this assault on your children’s well being.

Recently, the Sesame Street character “Big Bird” did an entire monologue regarding the great news that the China/COVID virus vaccines were now available for children and how important it was for young children to protect their friends and neighbors by getting the vaccine jab to safeguard their friends and family. Of course, this sort of coercive programming utterly ignores the fact that children ages 5-12 hardly ever catch COVID, there are no known instances of children transferring the disease to adults, and the odds of children actually dying from the virus are astronomical — in fact, children in this age group are far more likely to be struck by lightning than to be killed by COVID.

But that doesn’t matter to the fiends who run the COVID vaccine drug companies. They totally ignore the very real threats and dangers which the so-called “vaccine” (really a genetic modifications system) presents to children, including paralysis, palsy, myocardial infarction of the heart muscle and pericarditis, all of which are potential after effects of this experimental “vaccine” that is far more likely to injure its young recipients than it is to protect them from a virus from which they have almost zero possibility of death.

Yet attacking the developing immune systems of our young children is still not enough for these drug-pushing fiends; the next wave of vaccination madness posits jabbing young infants of 6 months to four years with these experimental genetic modification injections, and the doctors advocating this atrocity in the halls of our government have actually stated that “they” will determine the efficacy of this program months down the road by using those inoculated children essentially as their guinea pigs to judge the effects of this mass vaccination program. It is simply sickening!

Not to be outdone, the major pharmaceutical creators of this scamdemic are now promoting it among children by running commercials declaring that vaxxed children will become like “Super Heroes” and help save the planet along with the rest of humanity by surrendering their individual sovereignty to the tender mercies of the Vaxx machine when they line up to get “The Jab.”

At the same time that the push to inoculate every living, breathing, creature is moving into overdrive, it is quite instructional to see just who remains legally exempt from all the COVID vaccination “mandates.” This list is quite revealing, as it highlights the typical hypocritical liberal mindset that might be quite accurately described as: “Do as I Say; Not as I Do.”

The following groups do not have to receive any sort of COVID vaccine:
—All members of Congress
—All Congressional staff
—the entire Judicial Branch of the U.S. Government
—the entire White House staff
—All CDC employees
—All FDA employees
—All U.S. Post Office employees
—All employees of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
—All Pfizer employees
—All Moderna employees
—All illegal immigrants

Now don’t you find these “exemptions” rather curious? One might almost be tempted to say that those who seem obsessed with seeing that the rest of the Nation get completely vaxxed and “boosted” also seem to have absolutely no desire themselves to follow the same vaccine mandates they would impose on the rest of us. Makes a person wonder: Why?

Yet the dangers faced by our children today are being generated by entities other than the schools, drug companies or video cartoons. Our children are being targeted on nearly every level in our society. Even something as innocuous as children’s clothes are now being created with themes of death and Satanic symbols. Singer Celine Dion’s new children’s clothing line (Celine NuNu) is a glaring example of an occult agenda aimed directly at our youth, with skulls and death oriented occult symbols sprinkled “liberally” throughout the entire clothing line. Only the most naive liberal hive-minded “progressives” would subject their children to this sort of sick subliminal indoctrination.

Just who are these people who are doing their best to destroy the lives and childhood of our most precious gift: our children? “They” are not just the politicians, the communist infiltrated school boards and the teacher’s unions. “They” are not just flaky video producers who are ripping off known cartoon characters to make scary and perverted videos for a supposedly adult audience. “They” are not just clothing and fashion designers, nor music industry titans, who bombard young minds with disgusting slang like “bitches” and “hoes” and “MoFo’s.” Rather, “they” are a loosely coordinated cabal, a conspiracy at the highest levels who have gathered under the umbrella of Evil to destroy an entire generation’s values, ethics, and the ability to think clearly and precisely, while doing their best to undermine American values and family values, all in service to the State and the high tech titans who think they run this world.

What can you do to lessen the influence of these subversive programs aimed at destroying the values and ethics of your children? Probably the very best alternative is to remove your child from any public schools if at all possible and begin the process of home schooling to be sure that your values, ethics and morality are transferred to your children in the most nurturing environment — your own home.

If you cannot remove your child from the grasp of the public school system, then the best alternative is to go over your children’s school lessons DAILY, and help supply the antidote to the mind rot which the public school system and the teacher’s unions (filled with Communist fellow travelers) seek to impose and inject into your children’s minds to permanently warp and corrupt them.

Further, it is imperative to monitor your children’s exposure to television programs and on-line social media, which together are being used to re-program an entire generation of America youth for the purpose of creating division and disdain for America and American values, while creating a cadre of narcissists and snowflakes, easily cowed and triggered, and all of them ill equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world in the struggle for the future of Mankind.

The important thing to remember is that your children are the most valued prize of those who would destroy them and the American way of life. If you wish to stop the degeneration of our society and re-instill the values that made this country the greatest Nation on Earth, then it is a necessity to recognize that your children are at risk, and only you, as their Father or Mother, their parents, can prevent them from turning to the dark side of obsessive fears, compulsions, and mindless, nihilistic pleasures and instead instill the very virtues that have stood the test of time as the timber upon which we may build that Shining City on The Hill that is our Founding Fathers’ promise of the American Dream.

Boy-howdy, satirical music is really cheesing off the masses this past month! Just after posting an article roaring through Matthew West and the modesty debate (you can read it here), another tongue-in-cheek ditty decided to kick up a fuss. Only this one was by the San Francisco Gay Men’s Choir (SFGMC).

In a Broadway-esq ballad that aired in support of Pride Month (June), “We’re Coming for Your Children,” the announcer/soloist cheerfully shares that they have a message for anyone against LGBTQ equal rights: They’re coming to convert your children!

You gotta love their subtly.

This went over about as well as when your husband tries to convince you to trade in the family minivan for a Harley. (Or was that just mine?) The video only managed to scrape a meager 88 likes (and more that 5,000 dislikes) before it was removed from YouTube altogether.

When people understandably flipped out, the SFGMC assured everyone that this song was just a musical joke that fell flat and that all the outrage was really just the alt-right taking their lyrics out of context to further victimize and hinder LGBTQ progress.[1] It wasn’t because they actively sang about coming after your kids and then you! No no, that part was just a misunderstanding.

I hopped on and listened to the song for myself,[2] and let me tell ya, for a song that’s supposed to be fictitious, there’s a whole lotta truth in it. (You can see an archived video along with a transcription of the lyrics at the end of this post.)

Since equality is what is asked for, let’s evaluate this song with the same charity we extended Matthew West. We will be fair. We will accept the good and reject the bad (what we here at Mama Bear call the chew-and-spit method). We will extend grace where grace is due. But you can bet we will stand firm in truth because as our Mama Bear motto states: when you come after our kids you can bet we will demolish your arguments. But don’t worry, you won’t catch me singing the response. Unless you want me to…


Some people are freaking out a little about this opening line so let’s take a deep breath for a second. I wouldn’t even be surprised if even the soloist’s unblinking stare was meant in jest. Children are ideal converts because most haven’t been taught how to think critically about the messages they’re viewing. Without religious “biases,” children will accept just about anything, like the family with two dads which made an appearance on Sesame Street this past month.[5]

Yes, children and adults should know that different expressions of sexuality (and types of families for that matter) exist. They should also know how to treat them with respect as fellow humans. But this isn’t the real issue.

The real problem is that the goal of the LGBTQ agenda is to have kids believe that all forms of sexual expression are morally good in spite God’s clear design. If kids aren’t taught this from an early age, the song won’t need to convert your kids, they’ll already have them.


If I could ‘amen’ an aspect of the song, this would be it. Not because I like it, but because it’s scary accurate. Over the past few years, LGBTQ themes have been trickling down from teen and adult media into popular kids programming and products. Child characters are exploring bisexual lifestyles, asking to be identified by they/them pronouns, or dancing around pride flags.[6] Some of these occurrences are so quick you would miss them if you weren’t attentively watching it with your kiddos.

This isn’t including the explicit presentation in movies like Mitchell’s vs. The Machines, transgender storytimes, and progressive sex ed curricula geared toward kids as young as kindergarten. Sure the song might have been labeled satire, but the overt childhood outreach by LGBTQ+ activists is anything but a joke. The reason for this steady stream of LGBTQ+ material is in part normalization. Normalization is when something that used to surprise you barely makes a blip on your radar–especially when it comes to morality. In some ways, this can be a good thing. Jesus wasn’t shocked when He found himself constantly surrounded by sinners. Nor did He fake a “disciple meeting” when the tax collectors invited Him to lunch. Nope, He knew sin was ‘normal,’ which is why He went to the cross.

The problem with our culture’s goal of normalization is that it’s trying to numb our kids to the existence of sin so that they’ll eventually see it as no big deal.[7] Which is exactly why the song joked that, “Gen Z is gayer than Grindr.”[8]

Folks, Romans 1:18-32 was meant to be a warning, not a how-to manual. We need to maintain a proper view of sin if we are to be effective for the Kingdom. Yes, sin is common (normal) to everyone, but that doesn’t mean it’s no longer sin (Romans 3:23-24). Our kiddos need to be familiar enough with the world that they aren’t dumbstruck when it marches through your city next June. They also need to be gentle enough to know that though we’re all lost, all of us are worthy of redemption (Matthew 5:13-162 Timothy 2:25). Let’s equip them to speak life, shall we?


One of the lyrical jabs at parenting was a fair hit, namely the Christian tendency to shelter kids against alternative ideas.[9] This popular parenting tactic is anything but biblical, yet it still continues even today. Parents, your kids are going to ask questions. Thanks to the internet, answers are just a click away. This is what the soloists were excited for when they sang about how you can’t keep your kids from LGBTQ information. They’re totally right of course, but just because something is ‘information’ doesn’t make it truth. This distinction is super important given that many millennials and even more of Gen Z-ers have bought into the postmodern teaching that what’s ‘true’ is different (and even contradictory) for each person.[10]

One of the greatest skills we can impart in our children is critical thinking.[11] If your child has a postmodern view of truth, they won’t critically evaluate what they read, watch, or hear. (Judges 17:6) Everything will just get tossed on the ‘truth’ pile of tolerance as they head off to those discos we read about earlier. If we want our kids to stand firm for truth, we need to be proactively evaluating the arguments of the LGBTQ agenda while helping our children see that Christianity cherishes the whole person.


There’s been tons of fallout from this video. What I haven’t seen is a lot of compassion for the hurt that helped motivate its release. You get a glimpse of it in the song. When the soloists complain about being seen as ‘not respectable,’ they’re touching on the loss of dignity they feel when the sum total of their identity is hinged on their sexuality. What they don’t realize is that the LGBTQ agenda is doing the exact same thing–defining them by their sexuality.

Embracing one’s sexuality is seen as embracing one’s “true self”. This isn’t just an identity claim. This act simultaneously drives a wedge between them and the Savior who offers true redemption, love, and community. This same Savior, by the way, calls everyone to submit their bodies to the cross, not just LGBTQ folks.

It’s time the church starts acting like the church: a place of healing and refuge for all who seek redemption through Christ. I’m not excusing the activist’s real attempts to lead children (and adults) astray from Biblical ideals and morality. I am saying is that they are worthy of the same grace that Christ extends you and me. Let’s start ministering like it.

We’ve also confirmed from another source that FEMA’s leadership has been completely overrun with communist operators who are planning on exploiting FEMA authority to flag and exterminate pro-America, pro-Trump dissidents who tend to be vaccine skeptics as well. We have also received documentation of the exact inventory of FEMA’s killing machines which have been distributed to FEMA centers across the nation and will be used to murder large numbers of dissenters who are flagged by FEMA.

Well, they’ve finally done it.

We’ve been watching for it all along, hoping against hope that the System would prove us wrong and somehow behave itself. But we kept watching, because we know what the System is made of.

Sure enough, it finally happened.

Today in dependency court madness, LA County Dept. of Children and Family Services (DCFS) recommended that the court remove my client’s child from their physical custody after the parent tested positive for COVID-19. This is a non-offending parent. The judge ruled in favor of DCFS and detained.” (emphasis added)

So says a Los Angeles-area attorney in a post on Facebook last week. (We have not yet been able to confirm the case, but the lawyer’s account remains live on Facebook.)

He continues, “Let that sink in . . . DCFS is asking for children to [be] removed from their parents’ custody due to COVID-19 despite the parent making the appropriate arrangements for their child. (emphasis added)

To be clear, right now we are talking about one child in one courtroom. The family, who we understand are working on filing a writ of habeas corpus to have their child returned, hasn’t had time yet to finish that writ, let alone file for a full appeal.

However, once there is one rotten ruling, it becomes easier for others to follow.

Some of you have been sounding alarms ever since reports came out that child welfare forms were changed to indicate COVID-19 was present in the home at the time of the child’s removal.

Our analysis at the time was, and remains, that the change in the form was not intended to make COVID-19 an excuse for separating families. It was intended as a means to warn a potential foster family or group home that an in-coming child has been exposed to the virus.

But, like so many of you, we also saw the potential for danger, and we have kept our ear to the ground. Sure enough, now an LA County judge has taken the plunge down the rabbit hole.

To state the matter plainly,the government has no authority to remove a child from their private home simply because the child or a parent has contracted COVID-19.  This is especially true if, as indicated by this family’s lawyer, the parents have made appropriate arrangements to see to it the child can be taken care of somewhere away from the infected parent.

In such instances, there is absolutely no need for the court to even be involved.

This is not—this will not be—the new normal. Under no circumstances will we stand by while innocent families suffer the humiliating and life-shattering trauma of unnecessary, unconstitutional, unconscionable separation.

We are working to know more about this situation, and we will certainly stay vigilant in watching for more instances, and for tracking what happens in this case.

The LA County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) successfully convinced a judge to remove a child from a home because his parent tested positive for covid-19. Is this the “new normal?”
“Let that sink in . . . There are reports of other attorneys in the Los Angeles area facing similar challenges.
No agency has the authority to remove a child from their private home because someone in the household is sick. This is the most unnecessary, unconstitutional and unconscionable of acts taken so far by authorities. So how did the court get involved in the first place?
When child welfare forms were originally changed to inquire if covid-19 is present in the home, authorities intended to warn new foster families of the presence of a potential covid-19 infection. However, it seems that this information is being used as a weapon now against families, to separate children from parents and isolate them.
This is important to know, for any information you give out about your family’s health and travels can and may be used against you in a court of law due process forfeited. Contact tracing is being configured into many aspects of society, setting up the infrastructure to forcibly track, isolate, test, remove and vaccinate people, with no informed consent. Hospital policies now dictate that fathers cannot enter the delivery room and attend their child’s birthan act of family separation that further conditions us to accept that children are property of the state. Medical kidnapping has been going on for a long time, but it’s now uglier than ever.
Contact tracers are being deployed by the thousands by state governments. People going about their daily lives are being ordered to undergo home arrest and quarantine for merely crossing paths with someone who tested positive for covid-19. No illness, not even the slightest of symptoms are needed to impose arbitrary 14-day quarantines on innocent people. It’s important to note that these are not evidence-based quarantines. These are deliberate assaults on human freedom, an attack on our right to associate and assemble. These contact tracing efforts are dragnet breaches of individual liberty, conditioning everyone to believe that all people are, by default, biological sources of contamination and infection. Even in the spirit of protecting public health, most of the time, there isn’t even a shred of evidence to suggest that an individual be considered for isolation; nevertheless, countless people are now being tracked down by the state’s contact tracing army and told to isolate for no rational reason whatsoever.spacer

Contact Tracing and contact investigators are turning friends and family against their own.  Some of the contact information they will get directly from your cellphone, PC, laptop, notepad and/or all the other appliances in your home that are feeding them data.  More destructive is the fact that they have crazed humans turning on their neighbors, friends and relatives through the contact tracing program.  You may find that your own family becomes your worst enemy.  Forgive them.  God told us this would happen.  

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.  Matthew 10:21-22.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. As provincial agencies prepare to “re-open” society, serious concerns have been raised about mooted government plans to track people – using smartphones and other technologies – who have been infected with the coronavirus.

The CBC reports that: “Canadian Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien said the COVID-19 health crisis calls for a flexible and contextual application of privacy laws.”

Therrien made this statement in a government press release, but has yet to elaborate.

And, as of now, Alberta and New Brunswick have both launched their own voluntary contact tracing apps.

So, we need to continue to raise our voices to ensure that these measures stay voluntary.

In other countries, like the U.S., Congress is considering measures which would give the federal government $100 BILLION for “diagnostic testing for COVID–19, to trace and monitor the contacts of infected individuals, and to support the quarantine of such contacts…”

And, most chillingly, the bill would also provide for “services” related to the “quarantine [of people] at their residences.”

Could this kind of measure be on its way to Canada?

We simply must resist imposing Big Brother on ourselves for “safety’s sake.”

The basic idea of using new technologies for surveillance is that a smartphone app will record each instance when an infected person comes into contact with an uninfected person, and, theoretically, notify the uninfected person of possible exposure to the coronavirus.

Basically, your phone could be equipped to spy on you for the government.

And, that’s exactly what we could be facing if we don’t demand that government prohibits mandatory contact tracing and surveillance.

There are massive concerns with privacy, security and efficacy.

Here is a list of the biggest threats to freedom:

  • Government Surveillance and Privacy – Such apps might not only allow the government to trace your movements (which it can already do), but know who your associates are. Is it really the government’s business who you associate with?
  • Security – These apps are ripe for attacks by hackers. Do you really want some unknown people, company or government to know who your friends and family are?
  • The Data – Who will really have access to this data and how long will it be stored? Do you trust ‘Big Tech’ and the state to do “the right thing” with your data?

The threat to personal freedom and to privacy is not to be minimized.

In South Korea, for example, where contact tracing is mandatory, people’s private details, like credit card information, GPS location data, CCTV footage, travel documents, and medical records, have been used by the government to discourage free movement.

Using targeted cell phone texts, they have gone so far as to blast out particular personal information about individuals who have tested positive for a contagious disease.

Anyone can see that such a system could be open to abuse…

Today, authorities focus on health concerns, but who says that they won’t focus on political considerations in the future?

And, there are other serious concerns about smartphone surveillance, chief among them being: will this technology work at all?

Experts, like Dr. Farzad Mostashari, the former national coordinator for health information technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, who was interviewed by The Verge, suggest that false positives will be a major problem.

So, for all of these reasons, we encourage you to sign and share this urgent and important petition, today.

U.S. Democrats propose ominous ‘6666’ bill for coronavirus tracing

May 11, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – In a bizarre story that seems so much like a conspiracy theory that you need to check it out for yourself, House Democrats have proposed a measure to fund tracing of individuals believed to have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for coronavirus and require them to quarantine. What makes the story seem so far-fetched is that the bill number is H.R. 6666. No joke!

In another strange twist that has to be intentional, the shortened title of the bill is, “COVID–19 Testing, Reaching, And Contacting Everyone (TRACE) Act.” H.R. 6666 was introduced May 1, 2020 by 39 House Democrats, led by Illinois Representative Bobby Rush.  (May 1st is a high satanic holiday)

The bill authorizes the Health and Human Services department to give out $100 billion dollars for fiscal year 2020 alone “to eligible entities to conduct diagnostic testing for COVID–19, and related activities such as contact tracing, through mobile health units and, as necessary, at individuals’ residences, and for other purposes.”

The bill also seems to suggest an unlimited amount for 2021 and for as long as the Coronavirus looms. In the words of H.R.6666: “sums as may be necessary for fiscal year 2021 and any subsequent fiscal year during which the emergency period continues.”

And the funding is not for something only speculated about. Ventura County California has already rolled out the program, announcing on May 4, 2020 that they were launching a pilot “community contact tracing program.” 

Dr. Robert Levin, the director of Ventura County Public Health, said the county would be hiring large numbers of contact tracers and isolating every one of the people who test positive for COVID, and find every one of their contacts and make sure they were quarantined and check on them every day. Dr. Levin also noted that the program would likely be nation-wide with thousands brought on to be contact investigators. 

Perhaps most controversially, Dr. Levin spoke of removing people from their homes. His words: “We also realize that as we find more contacts some of the people we find are going to have trouble being isolated for instance if they live in a home where there’s only one bathroom and there are three or four other people living there and those people don’t have COVID infection we’re not going to be able to keep the person in that home. Every person who we’re isolating for instance needs to have their own bathroom and so we’ll be moving people like this into other kinds of housing.”

Dr. Levin’s comments caused a stir with some personalities who have been questioning the lockdown measures to sound alarm bells over possible state abduction of people from their homes.

Dr. Rashid Ali Buttar, an American osteopathic physician who has gained a major audience for his questioning of the lockdown and related measures being utilized to combat Coronavirus, lambasted the proposals for removing people from their homes relating it directly also to H.R. 6666.

“We have no idea if people are going to be testing positive have false positives based upon those tests,” he said. “So the point is that the chance of them testing someone and then being high and then being positive is pretty doggone high even if the person doesn’t have COVID 19 but they’re going to use that to pull you or your loved ones especially your children away under pretense of public safety.”

They’re going to say that your child has to be removed from you because you have COVID 19 and so to protect your child we’re going to take that child or we’re gonna take your grandmother or your father or you and put you into quarantine,” he continued. “This is a load of rubbish because if you’re in your home isolated who are you going to expose alright? And if they’re gonna try to take you away from your family the chances of you having infected your family even if you did really have COVID 19 it’s about 99.9 percent so this is a bunch of BS. They’re using this as an attempt to further divide us as individuals it divided us from our friends from our social circles now they’re dividing us from our own family units.

Following criticism, Ventura county health PR officials were telling media that the removal of infected persons from their homes is totally voluntary. Ventura county’s Natalie Hernandez told Fox News last week, “we’re not forcibly removing people,” adding that the county was offering a “completely optional service.”

Dr. Levin himself apologized for creating confusion. “I either misspoke or it was misinterpreted – I’ll take the blame of having misspoke,” Levin saidin a press conference reported by Fox News. “I gave people the impression that if you were isolated, you would be taken out of your home and put into a hotel room or a motel room or sequestered in some other way.”

“If I did do that, I am very sorry,” he said.

Despite the apologies and the claim of misspeaking, another Ventura county health official let slip the non-voluntary side of the program in another newscast. Chris Ornelas, a contact tracing nurse in Ventura county, said that should someone refuse isolation a health officer would be consulted for “next steps.”

“If it’s someone that is refusing, we will definitely consult with our health officer to look into the next steps,” he remarked.

I called the Ventura County health department Saturday to ask what Ornelas meant by “next steps” but have not yet had a response.

As the program ramps up and gets more and more serious about contact tracing and quarantine confinement of those who may have been exposed to the infection, symptomatic or not, that’s where a perceived connection to the prophesied ‘mark of the beast’ known by the number 666 comes into play, which is precisely why the name of the Democrat bill to fund massive contact tracing being H.R.6666 is so uncanny.

Last month CNN reported on the contact tracing program in effect in China where all residents are required to have a mobile phone app that marks them as either green, yellow, or red. Green enables them to enter public places such as stores, public transit and restaurants while yellow forbids them to enter public places and red means police enforced stay at home.

If you’re thinking something like this will never happen in the West, think again.

Just this month Alberta became the first Canadian province to launch a coronavirus contact tracing app. However, the app is voluntary and as of Friday only had 120,000 or 3 percent of the province’s population of four million download the app. The province is now pushing for more people to voluntarily download the app.

It only makes sense if they’re serious about contact tracing to insist on use of the app the way they are in China. And it would also make sense to somehow ensure that people can’t leave their tracing devices at home when they leave the house, hence the thoughts of implantable tracing microchips.

And in case you’re wondering if such microchips has ever moved beyond the tracking of pets, one U.S. company rolled out micro-chipping of its employees already in 2018. Since then 11 states have banned companies from microchipping their employees. Moreover, just a few months ago, Bill Gates’ company Microsoft patented microchip technology for cryptocurrency, but that’s another story.

How can Nununu claim to be promoting “gender neutral” clothing for children, while at the same time their clothing items are divided between “boy” and “girl” on their web site?

There is nothing more innocent and vulnerable than a newborn baby.   
So is it any wonder that the illuminati would use a cultural icon as the stalking horse for the mental and spiritual re-programming of our children?  The promotional video for Celine Dion’s new line of children’s clothes (Celinununu) is full of dark subliminal messages.
We first see Celine riding in the back of a limousine while her voice over solemnly intones:   “Our children… they are really NOT our children…”.  Then exactly whose children are they, one wonders?  We shall soon discover that another, outside force has ominous plans for them.
We next see Celine enter a hospital maternity ward, her silver evening gown now changed to black.  She is carrying a black bag with a large white cross that resembles a plus sign.   All of the male babies are dressed in blue, on the blue side of the aisle; and the female babies are on the pink side, dressed In pink.  The standard gender bathroom symbols for male and female are on the walls of each side.
Celine reaches into her black bag and removes a box that also has a large, white cross on it.  She opens the box and takes out what appear to be black diamond flakes which she blows over the children, as if casting a spell.  Instantly, several flashes occur and then we see the same black and white crosses on the walls, and suspended from the ceiling.   The infants’ clothes have also changed, from pink and blue to black and white.   Disturbingly, (if one slows the video) we also see that large stuffed black dogs and voodoo dolls with huge, white eyes are now occupying the cribs along with the infants.
The first baby we see is now wearing a solid black jumper with the words “NEW ORDER” in large white block letters.  Celine smiles approvingly before she is tackled by security guards as she looks into the camera and says twice:  “It’s OK, it’s OK…. I’m Celine Dion…”.
Exactly what are we to make of all this?  If one accepts the superficial explanation of Celine and her handlers, we are told that Celine has always been interested in fashion and she is simply bringing new style to children’s clothing, while also popularizing the idea that infants do not have to be “molded” as male or female from birth; rather, they should be free to “choose” their sexual identity, as if they really could choose to be the opposite sex, or even genderless.
When several Christian observers warned that they saw a not-so-subtle push in the direction of a gender-fluid Satanic society, they were ridiculed for being parochial, “old-school” socially repressive Puritans.  The “New Order” script emblazoned on some of the clothes simply was a suggestion for children to think new thoughts and achieve new dreams. Nothing mystical or magical, or occult. That’s just a “conspiracy theory.”
But even a cursory examination of the fashion line’s Instagram account reveals the truth of the matter.   After doing so, only a truly naive simpleton would not wonder exactly why Celine Dion was promoting Satanism to the children of our world.
The images found at celinununu on Instagram expose young, impressionable minds to language, symbols, patterns and thoughts connected with Satan and The Dark Side, and lead them away from God into a “New World Order” controlled and shepherded by the Illuminati.
 This IS the Illuminati’s effort to possess our children at the earliest moment of vulnerability to bring about the creation of their “New WORLD Order” thru the mental re-programming of an entire new generation in service to Satan.
As anyone who truly understands this world already knows, the most critical information is transmitted to mass consciousness via symbolism.  Occult information and occult propaganda (for that is exactly what this clothing line represents) is transmitted via symbols to the subconscious mind of both the viewer and the wearer of this clothing line.   Make no mistake about the creators of this clothing — it was all done with a very distinct, occult purpose–to program not only the children wearing these clothes, but to program their parents as well!
The most repetitive symbol seen throughout the video are the white and black “plus” signs, which some would call crosses.   But they really are not religious crosses — they are “plus signs.”   Now rotate those “plus” signs 45 degrees, and those “plus” signs become X’s!
It would seem quite logical that they actually represent X chromosomes — the chromosomes that determine sexual identity.  Once the transformation in the nursery appears, all we see are black or white crosses — which are actually Xs.   Those double X chromosomes are the determinant for the female gender, making the female gender the dominant gene throughout our New WORLD order.  Indeed, the very word used to define the new Celine Dion clothes line is a sexual referent.   The Urban Dictionary states that, “nununu” refers to sexual private parts of both sexes.
It should come as no surprise that these new baby and young child designer threads are the product of an Israeli company whose two designers are Jewish Israeli citizens — Tali Milchberg and Iris Adler.  According to their press releases, Adler and Milchberg have created “edgy” new designer label “must haves” that the Hollywood elite now covet, and have flocked to dress their children in these daring fashions so that they would be au courant.
When this fashion line was launched in November of 2018, the publication “National Catholic Register” featured an article about this new clothing line for children, stating that Celine Dion had unleashed “….a new demonic force into the world.”  This is based on:
–  a child’s face embraced by skeleton hands, with one eye visible
–  a young 5 year old girl wearing a T-shirt with “HO!” printed in huge black letters;
–  two small little girls standing under a neon sign that says: “Let’s Get Physical”;
–  a young girl approximately 6 years old wearing a loose sweatshirt emblazoned with eyes,  while her hand sports the All Seeing Eye of The Illuminati; –  an approximately 3 year old girl with antlers coming out of her head;
–  a baby wearing black stars and a black skull cap with two large devil horns;
–  children wearing black and white animal masks;
–  and just to make sure you really get the message, a young child wearing a goat’s head holding open a book of magic spells clutched to their chest.
There are also multiple images often associated with Project Monarch mind control victims found at the same Instagram account  — faceless humans, dark mirrors, masks that hide identities from the Self — all of these images are a direct link to mind control processes and triggers.
Yet whether Celine Dion is an unwitting tool or a conscious conspirator in all this, there is no doubt that Tali Milchberg and Iris Adler, left, the two creators of this fashion line for children aged 0 to14, (and by extension, their parents), are heavily involved in promoting the program of the Illuminati for the rest of humanity.
As their web site states:  “Fashion has the power to shape people’s minds, inspire their desires to be free and to find their own individuality thru clothes.”  So apparently Nununu is telling babies and their parents that it is OK to go thru life leading a gender neutral lifestyle in service to Satan.
While piously proclaiming that their clothing line “liberates children” and “…frees them from the “role” of a boy or a girl…” it seems obvious that the true intent of this rag house is to promote gender confusion at the earliest age, coupled with cultivating a macabre interest in death, the dark side and black magic.
Of course, Adler and Milchberg protest this line of reasoning, insisting that they are just “…trying to stop sexualizing kids….”.   Really?   And they do that by creating a pink T-shirt for little girls emblazoned in huge black letters with the word “HO!” on it?
How can Nununu claim to be promoting “gender neutral” clothing for children, while at the same time their clothing items are divided between “boy” and “girl” on their web site?
It seems clear that Celinununu’s true intent is to subconsciously program the children of the rich and famous, the media “elite” and those who “aspire” to take the path of the cabal for One World Government.   To fulfill that evil agenda, they are leading everyone — government, military, media and parents — to focus on death, the Black Arts, and the blinding light of Lucifer’s dark message.

Beverly Gardens Elementary School in Riverside, Ohio, began holding these drills shortly after the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. San Antonio Elementary participated in a school evacuation drill with the Pasco Sheriff’s Department, Pasco County Fire Rescue, and Pasco County Emergency Management. Our Active Threat Plan requires each school to identify an off-campus location for family reunification in the event of a crisis that requires an off-site evacuation. The sheriff’s office and school district regularly conduct ATP drills in order to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

Is your child prepared to bug out from school? Once she reached a certain level of maturity, mine certainly was.

A few years back, I posed the question, Should Your Kids Know How to Bug Out…from School? and the answers to that question were incredibly varied. Some parents said that the kids shouldn’t be in public schools in the first place. Others said that they absolutely had a plan in place for their children. Still others said that the very idea was irresponsible and that kids should be under the supervision of a responsible adult, particularly in an emergency situation.

There are all sorts of practice runs guaranteed to traumatize kids into submission, including live shooter drills and evacuation drills. In the latter, the children are unexpectedly and quickly herded onto buses and sent to an alternate location. (Michael Snyder gave numerous examples of situations in which schoolchildren were put on buses and sent to alternate locations without parental consent.).

During these drills kids are not allowed to phone their parents and parents are not even allowed to know where their children are in many cases.  In some incidences during which the school forewarns parents about the drill, the parents are told that they cannot pick up their children “for any reason” during the drill.  Many schools now boast of having supplies to keep children at the school for 48 hours in the event of an “emergency” during which time the children will not be released to their parents.

And it gets even worse. In the name of predictive programming, do you recall a “drill” during which the police took over a school and practiced fighting “angry parents”?  I’ve been plenty annoyed at different schools my daughter has attended, but in no way have I been compelled to attack the school, requiring SWAT teams to defend it against me and my band of likewise irate moms. This stuff doesn’t just apply to kids in the public school system.  Very rarely is a parent with a child 100% of the time, every day of the year.  Home-schooled kids go on outings with other families, go to church functions, and enrichment activities.  Whenever your children are not with you, a plan needs to be in place for their safety.

This is also not just about defying perceived authority. Another scenario could be a major disaster during which your children find themselves without a responsible adult to turn to.  Would they have the skills, supplies, and ability to get home or to a safe meeting place?

Is your child mentally prepared to bug out from school?

Each parent knows their own child the best. Not all kids are mentally equipped for a bug-out situation. If you feel that your child would panic, or your children are very young, this may not be a viable plan for your family.

If your kid is the independent, competent sort, then it may be time for a discussion on determining a plan for when and how to bug out from school.

If, out of the blue, the teachers just tell students to get on a bus, and there is no compelling reason for them to be doing so, it might be time for your child to use his or her own judgment on whether boarding that conveyance is actually a good idea.

Does your child have good judgment? If your kid is the type that is prone to panic and poor decisions, this might not be the best plan.  But if you have a level-headed youngster who has a grasp on the reasons why they would need to bug out, it’s definitely worth a discussion.

How does your child know when it’s time to leave? A degree of stealth is necessary to get away undetected. As well, not all situations require such drastic measures. You may feel, as a parent, that certain adults are more trustworthy and will be looking out for the best interests of your children.

What about younger siblings? If there are younger siblings at the school, your older children will need to plan how to connect with them.

Should older kids abort the bug-out if they can’t connect with the younger ones? A decision should be made ahead of time whether or not older children should stay with their younger siblings in the event that everyone can’t make their escape.

Where are your rally points?  You need to set up a primary and secondary rally point where you’ll meet your kids.  This should be within a couple of miles of the school, and it should be in a place where your children can stay hidden from the main road. The plan should always be to go to the primary rally point, but if for some reason that is unsafe or inaccessible, there should be a secondary rally point that is reached by a different route. Creating a specific route to rally points is vital so that you know where your child will be if you need to find them before they arrive at the meeting place.

In what situations should kids abandon the bug out plan? There are some situations in which evacuation is very necessary. For example, some places are prone to forest fires and you wouldn’t want your child out on foot in such a scenario.  If the school building were to collapse, it’s obvious the children would be relocated to a safe shelter. This is the point at which your child’s judgment comes into play. It is vital to discuss different scenarios in which evacuation is necessary.

How to build a bug out bag that won’t get your kid expelled from school

It is also important for your child to have the proper gear to take off on foot, as well as the ability to use all of it.  It’s important to practice things like filtering water in order for a young person to feel confident doing so.

This can be tricky, however, since schools are prone to hysteria regarding anything that might be considered a weapon.  “Zero tolerance” makes for a very restricted selection of items.

  • A hiking pack (My daughter keeps a teeny tiny fold-up hiking pack in the bottom of her school bag – it’s lightweight and would allow her to keep her hands free on a long hike.)
  • Comfortable weather-appropriate footwear (my daughter leaves a pair of winter boots, sneakers, etc., at school instead of carrying them back and forth every day)
  • Water filtration bottle (This all-in-one is inexpensive and easy to use, and this personal filter can be used with any water container )
  • At least one full water bottle, but preferably two
  • Snacks like granola bars or energy bars (I rarely advocate packaged foods, but Clif Bars  are made with pretty good ingredients, taste yummy, and are very filling)
  • Weather appropriate clothing (snow gear, light hoodie, gloves, hat for sun or warmth)
  • A fire-starter that won’t get them in trouble – this FireSteel also has an emergency whistle
  • Space blanket – This kind is better quality and won’t rip as easily as the dollar store kind. It can be used for warmth or as a makeshift shelter should your child be caught outside overnight.
  • First aid kit (band-aids are a must for potential blisters) Check out these instructions for a mini-kit in an Altoids tin
  • Extra socks – dry socks are vital if your child ends up having to walk a long distance or in bad weather
  • Communications – I hate cell phones with a passion. I really do.  However if your child is in school much more than a mile from home, this is a quick link between you assuming that systems are still working. If you have a rally point where you can hide a small cache, consider putting a two way radio there if it is within range of home.  Check out this excellent piece on family communication plans.

If you think your child is mature enough to bug out from school, chances are you also believe he or she possesses the common sense to own personal defense items without accidentally shivving a classmate. However, schools tend to have a different opinion on this topic. Things like multi-tools, matches or lighters, or self-defense items are frowned upon and can result in enormous trouble from a “zero-tolerance” school system that seems unable to differentiate between a tool and a threat.  These are things you must take into consideration when choosing items for the emergency kit, and you have to weigh the pros against the cons.

Only a few options exist that won’t get your child kicked out of school and served with  felony charges by the overzealous “justice system.” The key is adaptability. If your child finds himself or herself in a survival situation, a little skill for improvisation can help.

In a pinch, everyday objects can be pressed into duty for self-defense.  To name of few items typically found in a classroom or a schoolbag:

  • A ballpoint pen
  • Scissors
  • Heavy objects
  • Any type of aerosol spray (hairspray, spray deodorant, etc.)

While these are far from the best self-defense items, they can be effective if wielded correctly. Some of these items can be kept in a locker or backpack and appear quite innocent until they are needed.

Talk to your kids

Whatever your feelings are about kids bugging out, these subjects can still bring up discussion points. Talk to your children. Make up scenarios and say, “What would you do if…?”  Brainstorm and discuss things to help them build a survival mindset.

Starting shortly after the Columbine terror attacks, terror drills have become a regularity in schools throughout America. These drills serve two purposes: Terrorize American children and provide cover for future false-flag terror attacks. The truth about governmental drills is they are rarely done on locations that are not a future “target”, and you never know when the terror drills will go live.

The amount of terror drills occurring at American universities and colleges is terrorizing in and of itself. Aside from brainwashing the students to the new and terrifying way of American life, it allows government agencies to perfect false-flag terror scenarios and work out any kinks prior to the terror drills going live.Currently, school and university terror propaganda is also at an all-time high. In 2012 alone, there were at least 30 cases of school and university attacks, outbreaks, threats and scares with at least 12 major plots to bomb or shoot-up U.S. schools or universities allegedly thwarted by officials. Numerous school and university terror drills have also prepped local, state and federal officials for impending school terror on the level of the Columbine shooting and the Beslan massacres, both of which were state-sponsored attacks. School and university terror is blinking red on every level; the only question is when and where the state-sponsored terror attacks will occur.

“A school safety drill that included police officers in riot gear with weapons has caused concern among some parents who say it was too realistic and frightened some students.”

“Students, who were unaware police were conducting a drill, were taken from the classroom into the halls, patted down by officers and asked what they had in their pockets, the newspaper said.”

“Some of these kids were so scared, they just about wet their pants,” said Marge Bradshaw, a parent with four children in Godfrey-Lee Schools. “I think it’s pure wrong that the students and parents were not informed of this.”

The students were not told that the drill was about to take place and the teachers were given just a moments notice.

The mock attack was funded by a Homeland Security grant and required the participation of students to act bloody and injured, also involving hospitals, morgues and mannequins painted up to look like dead children, as parents were ordered to dash to emergency rooms frantic in the belief that their child had perished.

The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District later had to apologize for characterizing homeschoolers as terrorists after hundreds of complaints poured in (Infowars, 2006).

School shooting drill gets cops, kids on same page

“Basically, the weaponry is the same weapon we carry on duty,” said Albany Police Sgt. Travis Giboney. “However, they use a marking cartridge: kind of like a paintball, except it’s a gas-driven paint pellet.”

Two counties’ worth of law enforcement, and a couple of dozen student volunteers, took part in this active shooter drill at West Albany High on Wednesday.

“It’s kind of scary at first,” says sophomore Matt Groshong. “You can even feel the gun when it goes off, and when it hits, when the bullets hit, it’s all so realistic, it’s just weird.”

There are many unknowns, but one thing’s for certain — there’s at least one shooter on a rampage.

As law enforcement heads into a situation, the kids who are playing the roles know what they’re doing, and the bad guys also know what’s going on. But these guys don’t know what to expect. In that sense, it’s the same feeling they’d have if they walked into an active shooter situation.

The bullets are replaced with paint, and the good guys always win, but the cops and the kids say they’re better prepared for the worst.

“I don’t think people think about it happening at their school, because they’re like, oh, that doesn’t happen here,” said sophomore Jake Blecker. “But I mean, potentially it could happen anywhere, and so it kind of gives you an experience of what it would be like and how scary it would actually be.”

There are about 100 law enforcement officials from Linn and Benton Counties taking part in the training, which continues through Thursday. Officials debrief each group after their simulations to talk about what they’ve learned, and how to improve (KVAL News, 2007).

AbstractThe Burlington Township High Scool in New Jersey along with the local police and fire departments are taking heat for a fake hostage drill conducted on the school grounds last month.

The drill, aimed at testing the reactions of faculty and first responders during a simulated attack, included an imaginary scenario that has some Christians up in arms.

During the simulation, two mock gunmen from a fake right-wing fundamentalist group called the “New Crusaders” — a group that does not believe in the separation of church and state — stormed the school. The idea was that they were angry that one of their daughters was expelled for praying before class.

Nobody from the school, including from the superintendent’s office or the police department, was willing to talk about the drill on camera, but the township issued a statement saying the chosen scenario was never intended to offend any group and was meant to be generic in nature.

“The term ‘Christian’ was not included in the scenario. It was believed that all groups pray and prayer in school is a universal issue,” reads the statement from the school.

“Similarly it is further believed that all groups experience right-wing fundamentalists in their organizations. The bottom line was the protection of human life should a significant event unfold.

The spokeswoman for the school told FOX News that any “perceived insensitivities” to any religious community are “definitely regrettable.”

“It was certainly not the intent to portray any group in a negative manner,” said Liz Scott. “The district cherishes and we respect and celebrate the diversity of culture and the faith that exists within our community. Our schools have respected and supported staff members and our students’ right to pray.”

But critics say even though the word “Christian” wasn’t stated explicitly in the scenario, which was created by the Burlington Police and the township public safety director, it is offensive and clearly implied the fake gunmen were Christians.

Pawson also said the scenario was not realistic.

“Those kinds of buzzwords, ‘crusader’ — that’s Christian only — ‘right-wing fundamentalists,’ ‘separation of church and state,’ ‘praying’ … all those phrases together, buzzwords equal ‘Christian,'” said Bob Pawson, the national coordinator of the Scriptures in School Project.

“This is an unreal scenario, like I said. No child can be expelled for praying in a school since it’s legal; therefore, the parents wouldn’t have gotten mad, they wouldn’t have used guns. If a school district had expelled a girl for praying in class, the parents would have shown up with attorneys, not with pistols.”The school says critics are blowing things out of proportion and that only about a half-dozen students participated in the drill. But the other side says it’s religious ignorance and there’s no excuse for it (Fox News, 2007)

AbstractEmergency crews from Wood County gathered Tuesday at Ohio Valley University to participate in a full-scale emergency exercise designed to critique and improve how agencies respond to emergencies.

Sponsored by the Wood County Local Emergency Planning Commission, the exercise involved agencies using normal radio channels to communicate and react to emergency scenarios acted out by volunteers at OVU’s main campus.

Police and fire crews gathered at the south campus, which was designated as the staging area, until they were dispatched to the scene.

“We have volunteers who will be role-playing, and our agencies will respond to these emergency calls with real equipment,” said Doug Hess, chairman of the emergency planning commission. “A lot of the agencies do their own kind of training, but this is an opportunity for all the agencies to work together in very realistic scenarios.”

An outside consulting firm was hired by the planning commission with state grant funds to organize and evaluate the exercise.

Jeff Harvey, with JH Consulting in Buckhannon, said his company specializes in emergency preparedness training.

“The backstory in this whole exercise is centered around a disgruntled student who will spur a variety of emergency situations,” said Harvey. “We have people designated as actors, observers and evaluators. The evaluators are experienced professionals who will be judging the preparedness of the emergency crews.”

Crews will be evaluated on communications, sheltering, security, tactile and hazardous material response, said Harvey.

“This is an exciting undertaking,” Hess said. “Tonight, our law enforcement and fire agencies will handle a variety of situations. There might be a chemical leak, a fire or an explosion. They could be dealing with a hostage situation or a bomb. For the most part, what happens tonight will be somewhat of a surprise to emergency crews,” he said.

During the first emergency drill involving a possible explosive, an actor made an emergency call to the 911 center, prefacing the call with the phrase, “This is a drill,” to inform dispatchers that there was not an actual emergency.

Agencies experienced glitches in communications, resulting in delays. Real emergency situations resulting from heavy rains in Wood County resulted in many of the ambulances participating in the drill to be dispatched to other areas.

“It’s an interesting scenario,” said Hess. “All of these agencies should react as if this was a real-life emergency.”

The American Red Cross, hospitals, the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, The ARC, Volunteer Action Center and Wood County Schools participated in the drill and provided volunteers. The SWAT team, sheriff’s office, police and volunteer fire departments participated in the training exercise.

A second emergency exercise will take place from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Vienna Elementary School (News & Sentinel, 2010).

Abstract: East Carolina University officials are scheduled to conduct a full-scale emergency planning drill May 18 at a residence hall on the west end of main campus.

Students, faculty, staff and visitors are advised to avoid the following areas between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.: Green, White, Clement, Fletcher and Garrett residence halls, as well as Bloxton House and West End Dining.

Because of their proximity to the drill site, Mendenhall Student Center and the Student Recreation Center will be closed to the public until 1 p.m. University employees are asked to report to work as usual.

Some streets and parking areas on campus may be blocked, including Trustees Way at Fifth Street and in front of Jenkins Fine Arts Center; Faculty Way behind Jenkins and Bloxton House; a parking lot north of the Student Recreation Center; and Reade Street from Reade Circle to Fifth Street. B1 parking lots off Reade Street between 5th and 3rd streets will be unavailable.

The drill, a normal part of ECU emergency planning, is designed to prepare staff and law enforcement to respond to an active shooter on campus. People should be aware that the exercise may involve actors, emergency outdoor speakers and simulated use of weapons, said Tom Pohlman, environmental manager with ECU Environmental Health and Safety.

I recently received my 1st grade students back to school paperwork. Going through the packet I found a letter serving notification that my son is now required by law to participate in monthly anti-terrorism drills.

In fact, after doing more research, I learned that all NJ schools which provide services to children from Kindergarten and up are now required by law to participate in monthly drills.

Schools must hold at least twice a year, in addition to the twice a month fire drills the following:

  1. Active shooter
  2. Evacuation (non- fire)
  3. Bomb threat
  4. and Lockdown

On top of those drills, schools will be required to also hold other security drills, which include the following:

  1. Shelter-in-place
  2. Reverse evacuation
  3. Evacuation to relocation site
  4. Testing of school’s notification system and procedures
  5. Testing of school’s communication system and procedures
  6. Tabletop exercise
  7. and Full scale exercise

With a Full Scale Exercise defined by Law as:

“Full Scale Exercise: This is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional activity involving actual deployment of resources in a coordinated response as if a real incident had occurred. This exercise tests many components of one or more capabilities within emergency response and recovery, and is typically used to assess plans, procedures and coordinated response under crisis conditions.”

The NJ Department of Educations has recently changed the guidelines concerning the frequency of these emergency drills. Each month a school must conduct one fire drill and one security drill which may be a lockdown, bomb threat, evacuation, active shooter, or shelter-in place drill. All schools are now required by law to implement this procedure.

The school district is working closely with the Brick Township Police Department through our school resource officers to correctly implement these procedures. Our staff members have all be trained in our emergency drill procedures and are well prepared should we have to deal with a real emergency. The goals of the training drill are to improve our ability to protect students, save lives, and reduce injuries. They also allow us to evaluate our emergency operations plan and improve our response skills.

In order to protect students, in case of an actual emergency students will only be released to the parents and/or other adults listed on the emergency information sheet. Please be sure that this information is current and accurate. It is a good idea to have several trusted adults listed with the school.

This letter serves as notification that the Brick Township Public Schools will be conducting these drills in accordance with the NJ Department of Education Guidelines. The dates and times of the drills will not be announced. you would only be notified if there were a real emergency.

Abstract: More than a dozen injured men, women and children lay scattered on the ground or stumbling in a daze around a remote corner of the University of Southern Indiana, victims of a severe weather event.

That was the scenario that greeted the team of emergency responders as they crested the top of the hill beyond the university’s baseball diamond Saturday morning.

Although it was a mock disaster drill and the emergency responders were students they were a real team — a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) receiving the same kind of training other such volunteers from throughout Vanderburgh County have received.

The students were participating in the training as part of their course work in a physical education community health class. When their training is complete, the students will be fully equipped and prepared to respond to real disasters, said John Murphy, program manager for the Evansville-Vanderburgh County CERT program.

“This is a campus CERT. The university is a small city on its own,” he said.

He said the training will prepare the students to react, most likely before other assistance arrives from the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and other agencies.

The goal, he said, is to locate and assess victims and situations so they can be reported to emergency responders when they arrive, and then assist as needed.

“They are first responders in their neighborhood. We train them to take care of themselves and their family first and then go out and help,” Murphy said.

USI theater students applied realistic makeup to 16 volunteers. The pretend wounds and actions of the volunteers were to mimic a host of injuries predetermined injuries.

Wearing green hard hats, gloves and backpacks full of supplies, the students set up a medical center while some spread out to triage the injured, determining the severity of the wounds and applying first aid to those in immediate need. Others formed a search team to locate victims. (Students triaged??)

After the first round of training, county CERT volunteers helping with the training critiqued their performance.

“Overall, they did a great job,” Murphy said.

Among the scenarios were locating a dummy that had been placed underneath wood and concrete ruble, and rescuing it; and assisting an injured person outside simulated house on fire.

Class instructor Renee Frimming noted that the training was something students could continue to apply after graduation as they went on to jobs and lives in other communities.

Student Cesilie Huebner said the training also helped her think about she might prepare her own home and family for disasters (Courier Press, 2011).

AbstractAll over the United States, school children are being taken out of their classrooms, put on buses and sent to “alternate locations” during terror drills.  These exercises are often called “evacuation drills” or “relocation drills” and they are more than a little disturbing.  Sometimes parents are notified in advance where the kids are being taken and sometimes they are only told that the children are being taken to an “undisclosed location”. 

In the years since 9/11 and the Columbine school shootings, there has been a concerted effort to make school emergency drills much more “realistic” and much more intense.    Unfortunately, the fact that many of these drills are deeply traumatizing many children does not seem to bother too many people.  Do we really need to have “active shooter” drills where men point guns at our kids and fire blanks at them?  Do we really need to have “relocation drills” where kids are rapidly herded on to buses and told that they must surrender their cell phones because they will not be allowed to call anyone?  Our schools more closely resemble prison camps every single day, and it is our children that are suffering because of it.

It is also important to keep in mind that much of the time these drills are not the fault of local school administrators.  Often, these drills are being mandated at the state level.  Our politicians have become obsessed with “school safety” in recent years, and apparently their idea of “school safety” involves deeply traumatizing our kids.

Earlier today I was doing some research and I came across a forum where a parent was describing a relocation drill that would soon be happening at a school in Oklahoma.  Well, I went to public schools all my life and nothing like this ever happened when I was growing up, so I wanted to do a little digging to see if this was actually happening around the country or if it was just an Internet rumor.

Unfortunately, what I found out was quite disturbing.

It turns out that “relocation drills” are being conducted at schools from coast to coast.

For example, the following is an excerpt from a letter to parents about a relocation drill that took place in Woodhaven, Michigan….

Our school district continues to focus on the safety of staff, students, and our community. We have a detailed emergency plan so we can respond effectively to major catastrophes. We work closely with the fire and police departments from the City of Woodhaven and Brownstown Township to implement this plan. As part of these efforts, we are conducting a practice emergency drill on May 19th. It will begin at about 9:20 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m. This practice drill will simulate a boiler explosion at Patrick Henry Middle School. We will evacuate all staff and students from PHMS, Erving Elementary School, and the Administration Building.

The Woodhaven and Brownstown Township Police and Fire Departments, DTE Energy, and staff from Wayne County RESA will help secure the buildings and monitor this practice drill. Erving Elementary staff and students will be evacuated by bus to Bates Elementary School, and PHMS students and staff will be evacuated by bus to Woodhaven High School.

But just putting kids on buses and taking them to other schools was not enough.  During the drill, some students and school staff were instructed to pretend to be injured.  In addition, parents were instructed not to call the school during the drill and children were instructed not to call their parents….

As part of the drill, we will pretend that some students and staff are injured. Pretend victims will be assessed and transported to nearby triage centers. Please be aware that Hall Road and Van Horn Road may be closed to traffic for all or part of this drill. There will be a number of emergency vehicles at PHMS and Erving Elementary School during the drill. Your cooperation is necessary for this practice drill to be successful. During drills and emergencies like the one we are planning:

Please do not telephone the school. Telephone lines are needed for drill emergency communications.
Impress upon your children the need to follow directions and take drills seriously.
• During an evacuation drill or a real emergency, students will be kept at their school or will be evacuated to another site. They will be released only to adults listed on their emergency contact form. Any adult picking up a student (reunification) will be required to show picture identification.
Students and parents should not communicate by cell phones during the drill or emergency situation. Students need to be attentive to the instructions from school and safety personnel.

But at least in that drill parents knew where their children would be taken.

That was not the case during a recent relocation drill in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho….

Students at Lakeside School District walked out of their schools this morning to prepare for the worst case scenario. They were transferred by bus to an off-site location in less than a hour. But it was only a drill.

Their Bus Evacuation Drill started at 9 a.m. and students were transferred to their undisclosed emergency location and returned back to school.

“As you might expect, student safety is our first priority and security is tight even during a practice,” Karyn Stockdale, district clerk, said.

It was later revealed they were bussed to Benewah Wellness Center as their acting evacuation shelter.

It was “later revealed” where the “undisclosed emergency location” was. I am sure a whole bunch of parents were thrilled when they heard about that. What purpose is served by herding kids on to a bus and taking them to an undisclosed location?

School officials just seem to take these little “exercises” way too seriously.

For example, check out the tone in the following excerpt from a school newsletter from one school in Pennsylvania….

“As mentioned in a separate letter in our CB Electronic Envelope last Wednesday, our school will be involved in an Off-Site Relocation Drill. This practice opportunity will sharpen our skills and provide us with the chance to review important safety procedures in the event of an emergency. This Relocation Drill is scheduled for Friday, December 16, 2011. Here are some very important reminders for all parents and families:


In every classroom, teachers will prepare students for this activity. To ensure that every child and adult arrives safely to the relocation site, no child will be released for any reason during this practice activity or real emergency. All parents are asked to review the detailed letter explaining the official steps for such drills and practice activities.”

No child will be released for any reason? What if there is a family emergency? What if a child becomes very ill? Our schools are becoming way too militarized.  It really is quite frightening to see what is happening to us. It takes a lot of effort to pack up all of the students and all of the staff at a school and ship them off to an alternate location.

The following is another example from one school in Iowa….

The second drill is planned for Thursday at 9:15 a.m. During the second drill officials will simulate a relocation of the entire EE-12 student body and staff by school buses.

For some schools, this kind of a drill has now become a regularly scheduled yearly activity.

The following is from a school handbook in Vermont….

Lockdown drills are practiced several times a year. In a Lockdown students remain quiet and undetectable behind a locked door. Students prepare for these drills and are supported by their teachers. Saint Albans City School practices, at least once a year, an emergency evacuation/relocation drill where we leave the school building and go to alternate sites.

Keep in mind that it says “at least once a year“.  That means that it could happen even more frequently if they want it to.

Some schools even have plans for students to be “housed temporarily” at alternative locations.  The following is from a school website in California….

Evacuation Plan: Requires that all building occupants leave and go to an alternate location. Evacuation may mean only going outside and away from the building until an all-clear signal is given. In some circumstances, students and staff may need to be transported and housed temporarily in another location until the Go-Home Plan can be put into operation.

In some instances, parents are encouraged not to pick their children up at all in the event of a major emergency.  The following is from an article in the Washington Post….

School administrators in the Washington area yesterday stepped up preparations for possible terrorism, and most school districts told parents that they would be prevented, or strongly discouraged, from picking up their children in the event of a biological or chemical attack.

So what measures would be taken to keep parents from getting to their children? That is a frightening thing to think about. But these “relocation drills” are not the only kind of drills that parents need to be aware of.

In many areas of the country, schools are holding “active shooter” drills where men in full military gear are pointing guns at children and firing blank rounds.

The following is one recent example that happened in Brecksville, Ohio….

The emergency drill at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High involved hundreds of students, including members of the Drama Club who portrayed wounded and panicked students.

Junior Ashley Elek said Chardon High School was on their minds as they went through the very realistic looking drill, in which many students were “killed” and “wounded.”

In many areas of the country, there is not always advance notice of these “active shooter” drills.  Sometimes students are told that there will be an “active shooter” drill and sometimes they are not. 

Sometimes teachers do not even know that an “active shooter” drill is coming.  When that happens, the results can be incredibly traumatic.

Just check out the following example from New Jersey….

About 50 teachers at a New Jersey school experienced a terrifying moment when a shooting rampage turned out to be a drill, but the teachers didn’t know it.

It happened Aug. 28 at the Phillipsburg New Jersey Early Learning Center.

A man burst into the library and started shooting. But the gun didn’t have any bullets, just blanks.

Teachers took cover under child-sized tables, crying and trembling.

“People are crying. The girl next to me is trembling and shaking. You heard people crying. You heard other people praying. It was pretty dramatic,” one teacher said.

Can you imagine?

Why would we ever want to put our children through that?

I think that some of these twisted sickos actually enjoy the thought of making little kids pee their pants. In some cases, children are told during these “exercises” that a particular group of Americans is attacking the school. For example, during a terror drill at a public school in Muskegon County, Michigan, students and teachers were told that “homeschoolers” were the ones attacking them….

The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke.”

In another case in New Jersey, students were told that the gunmen were from a group of “fundamentalist Christians” called “The New Crusaders“….

Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the ‘New Crusaders’ who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class.”

What possible purpose do drills like those have? Sadly, those running things keep wanting to make these kinds of drills as frequent as possible.

In New Jersey, new guidelines require that a “security drill” be held at public schools at least once a month.

As you can see from this document, an “evacuation to relocation site” drill is one of the kinds of drills that can be chosen to satisfy this requirement in New Jersey….

The following are examples of other security drills that schools can hold:

• Shelter-in-place; Reverse evacuation; Evacuation to relocation site; Testing of school’s notification system and procedures; Testing of school’s communication system and procedures; Tabletop exercise; and Full scale exercise.

When I was growing up, there was just one kind of emergency exercise.  When the fire alarm sounded, we all trudged out to the football field.  We stood around and talked for a few minutes and then we went back inside.

But the environment in U.S. public schools today is totally different.  Our children are being forced to endure endless “relocation drills”, “lockdown drills” and “active shooter drills”. These drills are just another reason why many parents have decided that it is time to pull their kids out of the government schools entirely.

Our public schools more closely resemble prison camps than they do institutions of learning.  Millions of our kids are leaving high school dumb as a rock, but they do know what to do when the alarm goes off (Family Security Matter, 2012).

ALICE & Run-Hide-Fight Training: Teaching Students to Attack Gunmen

What sounds like good theory and satisfies surface-level emotional needs is more complex, expert says

Training of school staff, who are legally and morally responsible for the safety of children, should be the focus.  (No, you have been entrusted with our children, they should be the primary focus. They should not be terrorized and traumatized by the very people we trust to look out for their best interest.)

Teachers, administrators, school police and security officers, and other staff  should continue to take the primary lead for protecting students. (They can practice protecting out children without traumatizing them.)

Should schools train secondary and elementary students to throw objects and physically attack armed intruders in their classroom? (NO! little children are not capable of overcoming adult attackers.  No matter how well “trained” they are to expect terror.)

ALICE Training, Run-Hide-Fight, and Similar Options-Based School Active Shooter Programs Generate Controversy and Debate

The debate grows as a number of current and former self-defense trainers, individuals with military background, and some School Resource Officers and others in law enforcement advocate for this approach.  This is often referred to as ALICE Training, where ALICE stands for Alert-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate or run-hide-fight, a federal Homeland Security Department program originally created for use in workplace settings. We respect the individuals and organizations putting forth these theories, but it is our opinion that the concepts are well-intended but not well-thought-out for preK-12 school settings.

ALICE, run-hide-fight, and other similar programs offer little-to-nothing new with alerts and lockdowns, and schools are already being trained to have evacuation plans.  The idea of “inform” questionably assumes that someone in the school will be able to visually monitor all of the suspects while simultaneously “informing” or communicating their whereabouts to everyone in the building. Those who understand preK-12 school security know that the majority of schools do not have comprehensive camera systems for monitoring and tracking active shooters (or anyone else) and there are risks in the implementation of this theory.

The controversial issues rise over the Counter component of ALICE, or the fight componentof run-hide-fight, which advocates training children to try to “distract” and “confuse” armed suspects by throwing items and attacking the heavily armed gunman.  Many educators, law enforcement officers, parents and school safety specialists do not support this proposed approach for “training” students in preK-12 school settings.

This question was posed to school safety expert, Ken Trump, by Fox News Channel producers in December of 2008 in response to a Massachusetts school district that was considering such training options with children as young as 10 years old. Ironically, the Texas school district that was one of the first, if not the first, to advance this concept reversed its decision back in 2006 according to an AP report (see section below on school leaders rejecting the approach).

Preying on Emotions May Make Theory Sound Good, But Implementation is More Complex

Recent years have brought out discussions of arming teachers, bulletproof backpacks, and now flying textbooks. Such proposals often prey on the emotions of anxious parents and educators looking for a “quick fix” to the complex issues of school safety and emergency planning.

To put that expectation on young, emotional, scared, frightened children is really a slippery slope.  It has a high risk and higher probability of escalating a situation than it would to neutralize the situation. They are asking them to make some quite serious judgments that even trained adults are challenged to make.  It is an unrealistic and highly risky expectation and burden to put on kids.

Advocates of such training are quick to claim that opponents of the training are forcing children to become “sitting ducks” waiting to be slaughtered.  While this emotional appeal obviously strikes the chord of anxious, concerned parents, it fails to recognize many critical implementation considerations ranging from child learning and development factors, to implementation issues such as whether school districts could even possibly provide the quality and quantity of training necessary.  Those experienced in school safety who have worked with schools know that with today’s academic demands, the vast majority of schools are struggling to provide the comprehensive and ongoing training needed for the adult crisis team members and staff we entrust with the care of our children.

Questions and Concerns About Schools Teaching Children to Attack Armed Gunmen

A number of implementation questions and concerns exist about school districts taking on the task of providing training to their students to throw items and physically attack armed gunmen.  These include, but are not limited to:

  1. It is unrealistic to expect 25 students and a teacher to react simultaneously, with split-second accuracy and timing, when a person with a gun unexpectedly walks into a room.  Coaches spend hours, weeks and years working with youth to perfect athletic skills, and team dynamics often do not generate such skilled snap judgment capabilities and physical precision in non-life-and-death circumstances. We do not have a student show up to one football or basketball game practice for an hour or two, never come back to practice and then expect them to play effectively six months later if we toss them into a game at a critical point.Military units work for weeks, months and years to develop such skills.  And police departments train patrol officers extensively, and SWAT officers practice intensely throughout their assignment in a SWAT unit, to develop such skills and abilities. How could anyone who understands training, and especially anyone who understands child learning and behavior, believe that an hour or two presentation or video would adequately prepare students to fight armed intruders?  Are schools supposed to train teachers to lead the response by issuing the order, “All right, kids: Attack the gunman!”   Do they expect students to practice throwing books at teachers or other students and then attack them once every month as a new drill?  (I don’t care how MUCH training they want to provide, CHILDREN are not capable of handling a terrorist situation. And in fact we should be doing all we can to protect them from such images, they should be able to maintain their innocence as long as possible.)
  2. It is particularly unrealistic to believe that one, two, or even several hours of instruction (or “ipod target practice”) can adequately prepare any group of children to have the precise physical responses and split second judgment to make the life and death decisions required when confronting an active shooter. Truly effective physical self-defense training requires both extensive instruction and countless hours of practice. It is highly questionable whether a lecture, with or without videos, or a one-time “practical exercise” would accomplish the stated goals. Most experienced school safety consultants, who understand the intricacies how schools work and the constraints placed on them, know most schools considering such training would not be capable of offering either the quality or quantity of training necessary to accomplish the goals behind such proposed training.  School districts also could not ward off even the most frivolous after-the-fact law suit that would inevitably challenge the school district’s implementation of this type of training delivered in the described manner. (why are we even considering this ridiculous training??  Our children should not be submitted to this trauma.  The schools exist to teach our children, reading, writing, math, and science.  NOT jungle warfare.  If the schools do not feel they are equipped to protect our children, then close them down and let the children learn at home.)
  3. Would throwing objects incite a suspect to fire his/her gun when he/she might not otherwise do so? While proponents of such training can point to real and hypothetical scenarios where it may have some impact, we can also look at situations where it could have escalated a situation.For example, in the Fall of 2008 in a Cleveland, Ohio, suburb, a high school student walked into a classroom with a gun drawn and then went out into the hallway, fired a round in the ceiling and one into a trophy case.  The school’s principal and assistant principal calmed the student and  the student turned over the gun with no one injured.If students automatically start hurling textbooks and ipods at the student when he first walked into the room with the gun drawn, many could have been shot. School shooting threats have included students such as the individual above who could have, but did not, harm anyone due to the intervention of adults.  We have also seen very targeted school shootings where the shooters were looking for specific persons and/or types of persons, and did not attack many others that could have been attacked.  Would we want everyone to start throwing items and attacking an armed person, with questionable probability of success, only to trigger more anger and shootings by these typically mentally unstable persons who may not have otherwise plan on shooting everyone? We also saw the extreme situation of dozens of terrorists who seized a school in 2004 in Beslan, Russia.  Would we want children to try to physically attack a couple dozen intruders armed with high powered weaponry, most likely to place themselves in a position of guaranteed to be shot on-sight?And while some incidents with armed students and other individuals have involved the shooting of adult school staff members, many others have not.  Advocates for training students to attack armed persons seem to overlook the role of the adults in the school.  Yet time and time again, adults have taken the leadership role to prevent harm and/or to save the lives of their children from potential attackers, including armed individuals. Not every situation is going to be clear cut in how it may unfold.  Responses to unfolding incidents by police and adults in schools will vary based upon the facts and nature of unfolding incidents.  Responsibility for taking the lead with these judgment calls should be the primary responsibility of well trained adult professionals, not emotional, frightened children.
  4. It is simply not realistic to recommend such confrontational training for young children due to their developmental levels and related factors. One proponent of this type of training acknowledged it should be recommended only for students in grades 7 to 12. At that point, the question becomes: “What about our younger children?”If current practices are considered so inadequate for the middle and high school grades that children must be taught to throw items at and directly attack armed gunmen, what is their plan to protect children in grades Pre-K to 6? Or are the young children simply written off as “sitting ducks?”
  5. What consideration does such proposed training take into account for special needs students (physically challenged, emotionally disturbed, autistic students, medically fragile students, students with learning disabilities, pre-school and daycare center children housed in schools, etc.) and how would this factor into the proposed theory behind teaching children to throw books and attack armed gunmen?
  6. Has such proposed training been thoroughly reviewed and endorsed by experts in child developmental issues, child psychology, child learning theory and related areas? (Note: To date, we have seen no endorsements nor have we heard of any from child development experts. In fact, several psychologists have suggested this approach is dangerous.)
  7. Will the school district mandate every student participate in the training?  What about parents who do not approve of the training and/or who do not wish their child/children to participate?  Will parental approval be received for each and every child to participate in the training?  And what then is expected of those children who do not wish to participate in the training, whose parents do not want them to participate in the training, and/or who do not feel safe, comfortable or capable of reacting in the manner taught in such programs?
  8. Who will instruct such programs? What is the basis for their qualifications?  Is the local law enforcement agency giving a one-shot training to teachers and then the teachers are expected to implement it with little-to-no professional experience, skills, and qualifications to do so?If they claim certifications to instruct such programs, what is the basis of the certification? Who is the authorizing/certifying agency? Is the “certification” merely a certificate of attendance for attending a training workshop? Are the trainers representing themselves or acting as agents for a company or a law enforcement agency? What liability insurance do they carry to protect themselves and indemnify school districts if and when lawsuits are filed in connection with such training?
  9. Are the instructors (and their agencies, such as police departments in the case of School Resource Officers (SROs) or other police department training officers), prepared to absorb the potential liability for the outcome of the training they provide to school students and staff?Does your school district have a formal legal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with their local law enforcement agency teaching the program which delineates the responsibilities and liabilities assumed by both of the organizations? In addition to the outside trainers, is the school board and administration prepared to accept the potential liability for approving such training? Has your School Board attorney rendered an opinion on the subject?What is your school board’s formal policy and regulations governing this program?
  10. Have parents been provided written detailed information on the full scope and expectations of the training, in particular that their children are being trained to attack armed intruders?  Have parents been given an opt-out option in writing?

School Leaders and Other Experts Reject and/or Question Schools Training Students to Attack Gunmen

It’s interesting that the public school district in Burleson, Texas, where teaching students to fight intruders first received national/international media attention in 2006, actually backpedaled on training its students to physically confront armed intruders.

An October 26, 2006, Associated Press news story said that, “A suburban school district that taught students to attack a gunman if he invades a classroom now says it regrets the training and that students should not physically confront armed intruders.”

The article went on to quote the school spokesperson:  “That was not something we believe in and not something we supported,” district spokesman Richard Crummel said.  “It wasn’t brought to our attention until they had already done the training.”

The district reportedly sent letters home to over 8,500 students expressing their regret for the training and saying that the district did not, and would not, support teaching students to attack an intruder, according to news reports.

The superintendent of the Burleson district was quoted as saying he was surprised to have seen the training video according to one news report.  The Burleson Star indicated in one story that the district dissolved the program in October of 2006.

A November 1, 2006, article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram also attributed an international security expert who studied the 2004 Beslan, Russia, school siege with saying that, “… the practice of students throwing objects at an armed intruder would probably result in deaths.”   The article went on to say that this expert said that, “But two or three hours of training provided six months before a potential incident is far from adequate.”

The proposed training again received national news coverage in December of 2008 when a Massachusetts school district reportedly was discussing the idea of training students as young as 10 years old to fight back against a classroom gunman.

According to a December 10, 2008, story, the Massachusetts school district’s superintendent said the proposal to provide such training created some concern among administrators.  She was quoted as saying: “We had immediate discomfort with all of this because it’s not the way we’ve thought about it in the past, and also we worry a little bit more about the liability of all of this.”

Concerns continue in more recent years. One Wisconsin sheriff’s deputy told Ken Trump that educators in one of the elementary schools in his district told elementary children to bring cans of soup to school to put in their desks to throw at heavily armed gunmen.Another high school principal told us he was told in this type of training to play loud music over the PA system to distract a heavily armed active shooter who would be shooting in the hallway.An elementary principal reported receiving a broken shoulder during this type of school active shooter training. In 2018, a PA superintendent whose district reportedly uses ALICE training made international news after testifying to the state legislature that his district put five gallon buckets of river stone into their classrooms for students to “stone” armed gunmen.  We question these and other odd theories and tactics put forth with these types of training.

January, 2018, article in Security Management Magazine reported evaluations by one national school security firm finding that participants with options-based active shooter training having lower scores than those who had not completed any training. They found that administrators and staff trained in these methods missed critical action steps that should have been implemented. The article also indicates that employees who had completed options-based training opted to attack in situations where it was not the best option.

It is worth noting that this article also had a sidebar indicating that school insurer EMC Insurance has paid out more than $1 million in medical bills to school employees receiving injuries from one active shooter program over  22-months.One police department is also reportedly being sued due to those injuries.

Supporting and Better Preparing School Staff and First Responders is Most Reasonable, Viable Approach

We should not expect schools to train students to bring a calculator, ipod or backpack to a gunfight. We should, however, demand that schools adequately prepare our school staff with best practices for preventing and responding to crisis situations to protect our children, teachers and school staff.

The court standard of “in loco parentis” (meaning “in the place of the parent”) sets the standard for expectations of school leaders.  When parents send their children to school, it is the adults at the school who are acting in the place of the parent (in loco parentis) Just as a father or mother would and should be responsible for taking the lead in making judgment calls and taking immediate action to protect their children, so is the expectation of school administrators, teachers and support staff when the child is in their custody.

Ken Trump summed up this as follows: If I am out at the mall with my family and shots are fired, or police are chasing a potentially armed shoplifter, as the adult in charge I take the lead in making the split-second decisions as to the best course of action to protect my wife and children.I do not look down to the little children all around me and say, ‘Go get’em, kids. Tackle that potentially armed guy.’  As a father and school safety professional of 30 years, I expect the same leadership and actions from the adults with whom we entrust our children at school each day.

Most importantly, our teachers, administrators, school support staff and school police and security officers have repeatedly and consistently stepped up against threats and into the line of harms way to protect our children in schools across the nation that have been confronted with violence and threatening offenders.We are proud of them and advocate for more training and support to best prepare them for continuing to take the lead in protecting our children for whom they are responsible and care for so much, but also know that the decision to confront a shooter is an individual, personal split-second decision, which is different from schools, as organizations, teaching the tactic and making it school policy.

Options DO Exist for Comprehensive School Safety Programming

There are many other options schools can and do take to protect children that are not leaving children as “sitting ducks.”  A few of the many examples include having trained, armed school resource officers (SROs) and school police department officers on campuses, employing trained and professional security staff, reasonably diversifying lockdown drills and doing police-controlled evacuations, utilizing proactive security measures including physical security and violence prevention practices, training school staff and crisis teams on emergency response procedures, training students on drills and common sense security measures such as not opening doors for strangers and to report strangers in the building and on campus, providing blueprints and floor plans to first responders and having them train using school facilities, improving prevention and support programs for students, and a host of many other measures.

The key is to have comprehensive school security and preparedness plans, not simply knee-jerk, feel good reactions such as the ones we have heard like arming teachers and having kids carry bulletproof backpacks. Most important is having well trained adults capable of making fast, solid judgment calls to protect children and themselves.  (Allowing teachers, who are trained in using firearms and licensed to carry; to carry on campus is a good option.)

We fully support effective school safety training.  The real questions, though, are: “What is effective? What and who are we training? and “Can and will it be properly implemented in schools?”

We also fully supports and encourages the right of parents to teach their children how to react to various types of threatening situations. Such discussions should be age-appropriate, presented with an understanding of the developmental and emotional state of the child, and realistic in expectations and outcomes.

Get a written opinion from your school board attorney and school insurance carrier

For those districts who still choose to adopt options-based training like Run-Hide-Fight, ALICE, or other models, our additional advice is simple: Get a written legal opinion from your school board attorney and from your insurance carrier that they approve of your district using these models that encourage self-evacuations and teaching staff and students to throw things and attack the gunmen.Make sure your workers compensation insurance carrier supports these programs being trained in your district.  You may need this record of approval to back you down the road.
